So...what's James Casey's injury?

Anybody still want Vickers on this team? Muffed a kick, giving them extra special field position and let a pass clank off his hammerhands like he was trying to catch an anvil that surely would've been a TD/lead late in the game.

Dude is a BUM.

CUT.

I'd rather see no FB than that clown ever again.

For an offensive genius guru brainiac, Kubiak sure couldn't figure out a way to call more than 2 screens the whole game to slow down the blitzing that was killing them. Casey could've had a huge game today.

So is Casey in fact injured, the title and post don't match up completely.

Are you being sarcastic about cutting Vickers. Yeh he cost us the game, but the dude has been on the field a handful of times. 2 mistakes and we're cutting his ass.

If you want to cut somebody lets cut Jacoby, the best play the guy had all day was defensive pass interference.

houstontexans.com says he and Mario BOTH have pectoralis injuries.

First it was hamstrings and now pecs...

Don't forget about Mike Brisiel, Brice McCain, and Schaub, who were all injured or out in the 4th quarter. We have to win next week to pick our confidence up....

I don't see no dang sarcasm smilies. If I was coach that chump woulda been gone after he clanked every pass that was thrown to him in preseason. If it was up to me Anderson woulda been cut after he dropped that pass. Mid-game. Like take off your pads right now and go home. I'd have been like Homer Simpson the way those chumps played. Jacoby shouldn't be seeing anything but returning kicks, that guy doesn't have it.

Huh. I was just kidding and now I feel kinda bad about that title...

Injuries are mounting :toropalm:
And it's like every single one of the star players. The team that never was...

And the CURSE continues! GEEEZ.....can this team ever get a friggin' break! For 10 yrs this team has been stuck in the mud....& sinking, along with it's die hard fans! Oh well, this is still my team!:toropalm:

Hopefully Casey's injury isn't to the extent of Mario's....because I think I might explode if Vickers is even merely mentioned as the replacement starter. I'd rather watch Samkon Gado run the ball than ever see another pass to Vickers and his buttered hands.

Bring me Adimchinobe Echimandu. Hell, where is Wali Lundy? Jesus christ SAVE ME!!!!!!!

Injuries are excuses, good teams still find a way..

- steelers
- green bay
- patriots

We want to play with the best then we have to play like them and get people to step up and make the effort.

You guys are right. Not having the the best wide receiver in football and the best defensive player on our team is just another worthless injury-related excuse.

"Good teams overcome injuries." No, they don't. Not when they're severely important to the team. I'd love to see the Steelers, Packers, or Patriots lose their best player on offense AND defense at the same time. The Chiefs lose their best offensive and defensive player and they're one of the worst teams in the league.

I'm sick of cliched statements like this.

 Since when was Andre Johnson placed on I.R.?

And are you really going to list the Packers and Patriots? You do remember when the Patriots lost their future HOF QB about 3 plays into the season right? What was their record that year?

Injuries are NOT a excuse this year. The other team that we're competing with in this division has also had key injuries.

Alright. I'd like to see the Patriots lose Tom Brady for 3 games AND whoever-the-**** is their best defensive player for the rest of the year and not look awful too.

Hell, they still have Brady AND have looked shaky despite their wins. They have no deep threat, a mish-mash of RBs, and their D is very suspect. They don't look very unbeatable at the moment.

This is a crap post. Lawrence Vickers is a good FB when filling the role he is meant to fill. He was the hammer for Peyton Hillis last season, and that's the role he excels in. He's a hammer, and he has hands like a hammer. So what's the first thing our genius play callers do? Stick him out there for a catch. Lawrence Vickers needs to play full time (if Casey is out) and end the season with zero rushes, zero catches, and zero yards. The coaches knew what they had with him, and that's why Casey won the job. They wanted the versatility, and that's not Vickers.

Vonta Leach never really caught passes either. Most FBs in this league aren't good for more than a few catches all year.

Oh, you mean the Cleveland Brownicles, who thought so highly of his "hammering" that they CUT HIM FOR NOTHING? Advertised himself as the complete package and all he has been is a complete package of crap. Call my post crap will, ya? :pirate: I just calls 'em like I sees 'em. Bums is bums. Yes but the Patriots, Steelers, and Packers have depth. The Chiefs (and apparently the Texans at WR and LB) don't.

That's on the coaching staff. We had no legitimate option when Andre went down. This staff decided Jones was capable. He isn't.

Every team is going to have to deal with injuries. It's up to the coach to make sure that you have enough depth to cover for them, and to adjust their gameplan to fit their new starters' strengths. Kubiak did neither.

The Patriots quietly have one of the best backups in the league. If Brian Hoyer had to come in, they would still be able to complete. It's my opinion that Brian Hoyer could start in this league...he's pretty good.

If the pats lost Brady for 3 games and they lost their best defensive player for the rest of the year, it wouldn't be the blow that you think. Hoyer is a solid QB and he could keep the ship afloat for 3 games and their defense kinda sucks anyways. Also this is kind of a moot argument to begin with. Andre Johnson does not = Tom Brady.

Even with the injuries that we have, there is ZERO excuses...especially with the division that we play in. Almost every team in this division has had their best player go down....some teams have HOFers that will most likely end up on I.R. and the only team that isn't missing key players is 1-4. Sorry, but there's NO INJURY EXCUSE right now and there's still no reason why we can't win this division with the players that we have right now.

We had 416 passing yards yesterday and that's with passes getting knocked down everywhere yesterday. I'm going to have to assume we were able to come up with a plan that allowed us to still move the ball through the air. Also Kevin Walter had 5 catches (including one beautiful catch that he had to lay out for) 81 yards and a TD...I'm going to have to say he was a "legitimate option". There are different ways to skin a cat...with Andre out, we're going to have to rely heavily on our TEs

Look...all we have to do while Andre is out is beat the Titans, THAT'S IT.

Even if we lose to the Ravens next week and the Titans win, if we beat the Titans the following week it'll tie us back up, but we'll be 2-0 in the division and they'll be 0-2...thus keeping us #1 in the AFC South.

These.

Injuries DO have a very big impact. And they DO impact a W-L record.

And consider this. The injuries are not going to stop just because AJ went down last week, and Mario went down this week. Who knows . . . Foster might blow out a knee against the Ravens. And the week after that, Schaub might separate his shoulder, Cushing might pop an ankle, or worse . . . our vaunted OL might be going down.

I know what's bothering people more than how the W-L record will be affected. They're freaked out that Bob McNair himself might use the injuries as an excuse.

And he will. :)

So . . . like my 10th grade geometry teacher used to say whenever the class would bomb one of his pop-quizzes . . .

"Cheer up! It's about to get a whole lost worse"

i think that is just where we are at as a franchise... we got a pretty good starting line up and hopefully we can start acquiring some depth and pple to mold for the future... idunno if our FO will handle this properly but that's what i would do...

The injuries to the Chargers' WRs are not what cost them last year. Possibly the worst special teams play in NFL history is what killed their season. Our last season's pass defense was their last season's ST play.

Good teams overcome injuries (outside of losing your starting QB), because THAT'S what good teams have to do every year and it's true. If we simply can't find a way to overcome it, then we simply aren't a "good team" and we aren't ready for the big stage.

Excellent post. You're exactly right here about Vickers. He is not a bum because he dropped that pass. That's never been his strong point. He's a hammer and a bruiser for RB's. That's always been his strength and he should have been brought here to do just that. He isn't versatile like Casey.

Must spread the rep. The Texans should have known by this time what his strengths and limitations are.

The Texans have evidently labelled Casey as a "minor" grade I injury to state that he is day-to-day. As a FB, you put virtually all the stresses on the Pec muscle to push the D off. If they don't assess the injury extent correctly and appropriately bring him along, you are even more likely to extend the injury than when dealing with a hamstring. My guess is this is what happened with Butler who was at first labelled as an "elbow" injury and allowed to participate in limited practice......the next thing you know he is placed on IR with a triceps rupture (the triceps tendon inserts into the "elbow" and this is the most common site of rupture).

No. He's a bum because he can't catch ANY passes lol....Yes, it makes calling a passing play for him STUPID. What is it? His BUM ****ING HANDS.

If I miss that pass, ok, if an NFL player hands or no misses that pass....
Idk, maybe I'm making a bigger deal about it than need be.....but since "hands" is a good enough reason to keep David Anderson's "popular" ass around here (who also clanged a pass) it seems like it should be enough to NOT keep other's around. Joel Dreesen too, if he's going to continue to be targeted THAT much he needs to put some stick'em on or something.

James Casey per Kubiak on 610 day-to-day with pectoral "strain." If he's truly day-to-day, it is a grade 1 strain.
I really hope it is. It would be a shame if he finally got a legit shot to play and it gets derailed by injury.

If he were to start Sunday, would he not play rather cautiously? Can't see a tear not slowing someone down quite a bit. I tore a button off a shirt once and did not want to work for a week and no one was trying to knock me down.

How do you play cautiously when your entire game depends on your pec?

My thoughts exactly. Anybody who's blocking is going to use their pec muscles. If there's even a shread of doubt I think you have to keep him out. A little tear can turn into a big one pretty quickly. And the pec doesn't always cause pain unless it's being contracted so you can tear it without knowing.
