Our "SuperBowl"???

Okay, who can tell me why I read every week how " this is their Superbowl"? Does this imply that the Texans will play "harder than necessary"? Or is it just a way to explain or excuse a possible LOSS by their team? Either way it sounds very weak, IMO.

The Saints are a great measuring stick for our team. Being 3-0 with quality wins goes a long way than 2-1 with wins over average teams and loss with a good team.

I was listening to Around the Horn yesterday, and they were saying "this is the biggest road game in the Texans history".

Give me a break. It's week three. I'll be happy if we go 2-2 over the next four games.

well it is an outlet to if they lose. An excuse if you will. Just like all the colts fans, after we beat them they were like well it was their superbowl good luck losing the next 15 and crap. It is a statment that shows us no respect meaning we have never won anything significant.

Exactly. The Titan fans will say the same thing, Jag fans too if they are awake, maybe Pittsburgh as well. Let them build in excuses, I don't care. I just hope they need one in the end.

........here we go again

shouldnt we all be used to it by now ? If i go to school everyday and a bully takes my lunch money i should begin to expect it everyday. Let them talk their **** and try to make themselves fill better :whip:

Who said it? It is a common expression by commentators all around the league but I haven't heard it this year about the Texans.

I lurk on opposing boards when possible and two of the three forums to my experience has mentioned it being our Super Bowl (Colt/Saints). Not that it matters all that much, but that is where I saw it.

F em'. Until the Texans prove they are legit things like this are gonna continue to be said about them. I've grown numb to all the doubters, and haters.

With this teams history, you gotta have thick skin to be a fan.

So fans of opposing teams? Just seems like kind of lame smack talk.

This game reminds me of the colts week 1 last season. Everyone is treating it like a make or break game. The best part about it is the Steelers are up next. We have a few tries to prove we're legit.

2-0 in this span would just about do it. :)

It means many things, most of the time all rolled into one...

Say in the case of the Texans and the Saints, If an ubiased ESPN/whatever commentator says it, then his opinion is probably that the Saints "are" a Super Bowl contender and that the Texans are "not"... He may also believe the Texans will play with more passion because of who they are playing...

But say a Saints fan says it, yah, it will be an "excuse", and sometimes an "insult" shot at the Texans, but in all honesty most of it is probably related to their belief that their team is the best and everyone wants to beat them and will play their best against them...

I always take that comment as meaning that that respective team is the best team we will play all season. I think it also insinuates that we will "play up" to them, and that, if we win, it will be because we gave it our all and not that we are necessarily better than them.

Whatever.

The Saints are a very, very good team that is playing at home. I expect them to win this game. They should win this game.

I know the Saints have a history of losing, but that kind of comment stinks of insecurity.

The Saints are favored. They ought to win. The Texans may beat the Saints...but there is no shame in losing a game you aren't favored to win. All this other crap is fan drama.

The Texans will be in first place in the AFC South after Sunday, win, lose, or draw. It's 1 of 16, and every game is important in the NFL (until you clinch). But, it's not the Super Bowl.

Before the Saints success I got the same thing from people (mostly my friends that are cowgirl fans). The texans IMO are right there as far as making the playoffs and making a push. I like the Texans just not this week lol.

So tired of hearing that $h-t, "thier super bowl", and biggest game in team history. You now the Saints aren't that far removed from being a 30 year joke. I work with a lot of NOLA folks, and most of the time thier good people, but good lord give'em one SB and they're the biggest sh-t talkers on the planet!!!!

I understand what you're saying, but I think it's more about energy than "importance"

When they say, "the Texans played like it was their Super Bowl" means they put forth their best effort. From start to finish. I think the Texans can use some of that, because we've seen them play regular season games with less intensity, focus, & energy than they should have.

agree, although this is not a MUST win due to our sorry division i think we still need to everything we can to win. Our players need to build the mindset that no matter what they will not lose. until they have that we will always be talking about making the playoffs rather than making them.
