Looking at Uncontrollable Factors

I'm thinking outside of the lines here, but I think it would be in our best interest if the Saints beat the Bears today.

Here's why: I think it compounds the danger of going to a hostile environment against an 0-2 team. The Saints would most likely be in desperation mode to avoid going 0-3.

The reason I believe this is because of last year's 0-2 Dallas team fooled us. I think I can speak to most of us when we thought this game was going to be somewhat easy for a few factors: we were coming off two incredible wins and Dallas was coming off 2 embarrassing losses, plus we were at home...technically. I think it's pretty obvious that Dallas was a mediocre team, but they played their hearts out to avoid going 0-3, then seemed to let off of the gas after they finally got that win and lost the next 5.

Bottom line is that the Saints are already going to be a very tough road game. However, I hope we could all agree the 0-2 Saints would be a lot more hungry than the 1-1 Saints.

Speaking of which, Lady Gaga doesn't have "woman" lines.. she's got no hips, which makes me think she's not a she... or at least hasn't always been that way.

& those costumes just scream chorus line

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

First, the Cowboys didn't fool us. They were horrible last year.... we were worse, at least that day. The Saints aren't playing bad football. An 0-2 Saints team is a dangerous team.

& I never take any game lightly. I don't believe we are at that tier yet, that wins the games they are supposed to. I'm hoping we are, but I don't believe it.

I believed it going into 2009, but 2010 I think we took a big step backwards.

^ Now this is why you're a rook... :pop:

The Cowboys didn't fool us... our defense was atrocious last year. Remember? And we proved that in week 2... what would follow was a part of that and what happens when our offense was unable to keep pace last season.... the defense falls apart. It doesn't matter who is 0-2 or 1-1... They are a dangerous team regardless and the Texans can't be overlooking them on the road.. who would do that? Nor will the Saints be any more motivated...

Unfortuantly you are right. But I go into every game hoping like hell for a win, but with this team, you just never know. I really think we need to be at least 3-1 after the first four games. 4-0 would be better. :)

Sorry let me clarify my post.

A lot of us thought we were hot sh!t after two weeks and we were talking about going to the playoffs. Losing to an 0-2 team during Week 3 was a humbling effect on our "arrogant" fans as one poster likes to call it.

It doesn't matter if the Saints are 0-2, 1-1, or 2-0. The Superdome is a hostile environment regardless. Next week is gonna be a tough game and a real test to see where we are at.

If there is one game out of our first 4 we can stand to lose, it's this one. An NFC loss is much less harmful than an AFC loss. With the Colts and Jags both losing to AFC teams this week we need to worry (ugh...I can't believe I'm saying I'm worried) about keeping Tennessee off of our backs. Beating the Ravens was a huge win for them, and it's against a team we will have trouble with.

Of course, I hope we win, but we really need to be at least 3-1 to keep our division rivals out of our shadow, and if we split the next two, the Steelers are the far more important team to win against.

The popular opinion on this board was that we were lucky. They were ugly wins & we had a lot to work on.

Most people only recognized the issues on defense. Some of us pointed to the problems on offense.

But no one here (that I know of) thought we were hot ****

Yep.

Our defense has only allowed two td's in two games. We are finally good enough defensively to give the offense chances to make plays even if they stumble.

I agree with your sentiment, but I believe the Texans are currently on the edge of glory. There's no question that Kubiak and fans have had a bad romance the past few years, but since he's shaken off the bad paparazzi I believe he will win this love game in the end. It may be tough, but if Kubiak can get Jacoby to not just dance on returns, and if Sean Payton can't read his pokerface, you and I may be celebrating 3-0 with Alejandro!

You need a wife. :kitten:

As to the topic itself....

I will buy it.

Facing an 0-2 Saints team who would be remembering the preseason loss to us back in August? Yeah, they would bring guns to a knife fight if we faced them in their house with the Saints being 0-2.

However, I still think this is bad mojo for us no matter what. It's the Saints.

Colston being out, IMO, is a minor assistance to the Texans (not "joyful" about his injury, don't get me wrong...I'm just sayin'...). Tate ate them up in the preseason and they will be keying on him a lot, IMO, which opens up everything else for us. IF Kubiak employs all the weapons, which I think he will.

More I think about today vs. Dolphins, the more I think Kubiak went juuuust as "vanilla" on offense as he could go today. He wants to open up the playbook vs. Saints. And I wonder about the Wade Phillips end of the stick, too. Is he going to try and open up the more exotic-looking pre-snap stuff and the plays, as well? I hope so.

The Falcons proved that even a "Dream Team" like the Eagles are beatable on any given day. The Eagles had got a QB in Vick who is getting concussed fairly frequently, IIRC, and they're hanging their hats on Vick the whole way...which we see how that worked out for the Colts.

Thusly, we need to win vs. Saints and just keep the streak going. I can tolerate one loss in the next string of four games...but that means we have to beat three of the following: Saints, Steelers, Raiders, and Ravens. Then after that, we face the Titans. We need to have a lot of swagger come time to play the Titans.

Why? A wife would only dilute my awesomeness as I would have to loan her some to be at an acceptable level to me.

LMAO.

I will reply in the form of the character Dwight Schrute from the hit television sitcom known as "The Office."

In my best Dwight Schrute voice....

I had assumed you could regenerate your awesomeness instantaneously as it is siphoned from your collective being.

Weakling. You are not suitable as breeding stock, I'm afraid. Which is perfectly fine...every member of the pod has a role to play in some way or another.
