Who will be the #2 starting CB before the end of the season?

Yikes, i didn't read the entire thread title before I voted!
I was voting for who I thought would be CB2 in the season opener...

I voted Allen because I know at some point he'll be #2 (due to experience) but I believe that Harris will also make a good push and may end the season in that spot too bad I can't vote for two people that will be #2 during the season.

I voted for Brandon Harris. I'm not sold on Jason Allen, and I've yet to hear anything good about Kareem. It's a damn shame too, cause I was one of the people saying a new defensive staff would really turn his game around.

Ooops.

I did the same thing.

I think Harris might be the starter by the end of the season. But I expect Allen to be the starter at the beginning of it.

I voted for Brice McCain.

I think it is a little premature to do a poll such as this, because there is really no way of telling.

It's just a popularity contest right now.

I think Jason Allen will start but by the end of the season I expect Brandon Harris to crack the starting lineup and become the #2 across from Joseph. Harris was one of my favorite CBs in college and I think he was a lot better than Kareem Jackson coming out of college based off of what I have seen.

Now, if we could get Harris to catch the balls instead of batting it away...

Harris. I picked him for the draft and the fact he was passed over by Houston & then a trade back up in 2nd round to get him made my day. Guess I'll run eith that hoirse foir a while. The INT he got Monday was sweet showing good ball awareness & willingness to get on the ground for it.

I voted Kareem Jackson:bag: because I think he'll be pushed the most into that position and I'm hoping he succeeds. This is something I'll be paying VERY close attention to during the four preseason games.

Man, was this a GREAT draft or what!!? Going into the draft I felt like it was deeper than everyone gave it credit for. I truly feel like this draft could rival that of 2006's that gave us Mario, Demeco, Winston and OD. That's saying something about these guys. Watt - Reed combo there was my favorite outcome that could have happened. The fact we traded up back into the 2nd to get Brandon Harris was just icing on the cake. Holy moses I love those three picks. I think Harris can instantly come in and be a great nickle corner for us but it wouldn't suprise me if he takes over the #2 spot by the end of the season.

Enjoyed your post OMT. As I have posted, my time with the Texans had about played out and signing Wade Phillips was a hook. I liked Watt although I was hoping J Jones would slide. I never thought Reed would be there in second and Harris was my # 2. I sadly waved bye bye but was kicked in the pants stunned when Smith traded back into second. I was hopping around my place like Demi Moore had just called to invite me over for a quiet get together.

Rashad Carmichael was another pick as I was unaware of his pro day 40 at his school. This guy can be a future star.

Now my hopes turn to the DB coach.

Agree'd we have very limited information to go on ..... Now if you ask again after pre-season .... We'll at least have those games to guage each by.

(I didnt vote).

I would really like to cast a vote, but must abstain until I see me some pre-season football first. It will be more relevant prior to opener against the Colts w/without Manning?

I think it'll be ja.

I just think that when he came in last year he added a stabilizing force to the d whereas Kareem mad it shaky.

Mixed with what I saw last year, and with the training camp reports I think it will end up being Allen. He has better field speed than Kareem and he also seems to have better ball skills.

Maybe with competent safety play and good coaching he will be able to better showcase his talents. Maybe bein surrounded by a log of talent will help. Maybe the light may have come on for him.

People disregard practice, but good players normally look good in practice and bad players often look bad. Kareem has skills, but it sounds like a lot of the same problems from last season are still lingering and he hasn't made plays in practice.

I haven't heard anything good about Kareem. Just bad stuff and meh.

Maybe by the end of pre-season be will look a lot more solid. We'll see.

It's really odd to hear (read) a guy who stressed "trusting his own eyes" to be swayed so easily by outside "information" as it tailors only to his POV; it's truly is (odd)!

Kareem Jackson. Dont laugh plz. Every DB gets burned their rookie year. Jackson was thrown to the wolves, left on an island, and thrown under a bus, only to have dirt kicked in his face on a defense that sucked. This will only piss him off and make him stronger. WATCH.

I voted KJ, simply because someone on this board reported that he has already been named #2. Cant remember what thread. NOT that I believe everything I read on this board, cause I don't, BUT, we all know by now that GK does not like to admit he made a mistake. He'll start KJ just because he can. I'm hoping Wade steps in and bitches him out and it never happens. BUT, we do have preseason to see what happens, and since I'm in a believers mode, I'll just keep on believin that KJ will GET IT before the reg season starts.

I'm not so sure about that Sandy. I have no concrete proof but I think the line has been draw in the chaulk. Defense=Wade, Offense+the rest-0-the stuff=Gary Kubiak. I think this is an arrangement that will work out pretty well. I believe both coaches know the deal and will work together to make it happen.

Then again, I could be FOS. :fans:

Hope you're right my friend!! Maybe this will be the year the SB will be won with a two headed HEAD coach! ( Damn! wish I knew how to photocrop!):)

on that Abc football special. Ole Gary said K. Jac will start, cause the games has slowed down, he sees more, blah blah blah, they havent even played a game yet so how does he know the games has slowed down for him ???

Ummm I watched Jackson last year and since the question was asked I can only go off of the information that I have available.

I stepped out and made a prediction.

Anyone could say let's wait til pre season to judge, but I was answering the question within the context if this thread.

Am I 80 percent sure it'll be Allen? No. I'm probably around 65-70.

But if I'm answering the question right now, I'm going with Allen.

That could change after I've seen pre season and had a chance to personally evaluate the team.

lol how can anyone make an educated choice without a single preseason game played.

The same way people make record predictions without having seen anything.

What's wrong with making a guess and re analyzing when you have more data?

It's called guessing.

I'm guessing Jason Allen starts out the season as the #2 CB. For all the bitching I read last year about no veterans people certainly are willing to discount that fact from Allen's game. 6 INT's is nothing to sneeze at either.

However, by the end of the season? Brandon Harris. Dude's got spunk. How's that for an educated choice?

HOW CAN ANY OF YOU HAVE OPINIONS?!? LAUGH OUT LOUD AT YOU!!!

I think you have nailed it. Wade will put on the field who he thinks will succeed. Forcing KJ to start if not ready would be the wrong move. No one wants to be wrong on any high pick but KJ will be a faint side note if Texans win and he is on the bench.

I think if more people understood the "by end of season" detail of this poll, Brandon Harris would either have more votes or be tied with Allen.

My take on the two: Allen is a better CB now, but Harris has a higher ceiling.

It's in the damn title, shun. I'm sure the people that voted knows what the question was pertaining to. And as you can see, it is not even, nor does Harris have more votes. Your bias-ism has failed, your cogency has failed.

In Brisco''s defense, I made the mistake of skimming the thread title, and my answer was based on who I thought would START the season at CB2.
At least one other person confessed to making the same mistake, so there are two potential votes that might have been made differently if some of us were actually paying attention to what we read.

Mea Culpa

Personally I don't think that is true about Allen.

Why wouldn't we think KJack's ceiling is higher than Allen's

Because as a pro, so far, he has been pretty bad by most accounts. There have been some questions raised about his long speed and footwork. Also, all we hear and see is him getting beat nearly every practice. And not just beat, beat pretty good.

No one knows how Kareem will progress, and no one knows how he'll play this Monday let a lone 3 months from now.

Just out of curiosity, why are all your posts always so aggressive and condescending? I have feared asking before b/c I know I'll just be yet another name on the long list of people receiving neg-rep from you...

:ohsnap:

Read fail here, my vote was for the opener.
Who'd you vote for beginning and who'd it be for end of season?
same. I picked jason allen, but i think KJ will end up being the #2 CB.
See there's 4 people that voted for the wrong person just because they skimmed the title quickly. I'll admit my initial thought was beginning of the season by I read the title carefully.

At the end of the day Allen may very well have the most votes. As of this post, Allen had 31; Harris had 20; Jackson had 14. It's not unreasonable to think Allen would have a few less votes just based on the 4 individuals above. Plus out of the 69 other votes I'd imagine a few may have made that mistake too. Harris-Allen could easily be tied. But we're talking about a small sample size here of only total votes.

I just don't think we need to call Brisco out like that especially when he has a pretty fair point. It's not the end of the world man. peace love harmony. :smooch:

Shoot I'll add SheTexan in on this too unless she says otherwise. Sounds like she's thinking regular season too. Sounds like she's not high on Jackson so I'm assuming she would say Harris or Allen for starter by the END of the season should Wade have his way.

He is just a troll that's all.

Something just doesn't sound right to me.

The Dolphins have already tried to salvage Allen (first round pick) by moving him to safety.. they still managed to have 4 guys on their roster that they prefer at safety to Allen.... & we're not talking about guys named Palamalu or Reed.

I can understand being excited that Kubiak & Smith finally got us a veteran CB instead of making us endure an entire season of nothing but the kids "finding a way to get it done."

But it's not like he came in & immediately dropped Kareem a spot on the depth chart.... if we got Cromartie.. Kareem would have been reassigned to nickel, mid season. If we got Grimes..... maybe... If Dunta was here, I seriously doubt Kareem would have started before Dunta or Glover.

But we got Allen, Kareem continued to start & was only taken out of the game periodically (presumably when he was winded).

So Jason Allen couldn't bump KJac when KJac was a rookie... but he's going to now?

I'm not buying it.

It is just my opinion, but I think anyone who believes Allen is, was, or will be a better cornerback in this league that Kareem Jackson is still upset with the Texans or Kareem for some reason or another.

I don't think Kareem is great... I don't know that he will ever be a number 1. Like most of you, I have my doubts.

So me putting Kareem over Allen in our depth chart has nothing to do with how good I think Kareem is, it is more about how good I don't think Allen is.
