I'll be honest... after seeing his interview last night on NFLn... he seems a little disconnected from the team. I thnk that Arian Foster will start to show signs of Arian Foster being all about Arian Foster. He just radiates that sort of jibe to me. I hope he remains focused and remembers that this is a football team because he is a badass. ALWAYS sheds the first tackler. LOVE IT!

That's what you got from that interview? I'm watching it right now he just seems soft spoken to me. Crediting his O-line and the passing game to all his success.
Maybe I'm just a Foster fan-boy and I don't know it (Actually the leading candidate for Foster manlove is definitely Carr Bombed).

Yeah. I can't go by sound so I focused on his face for tone. All I do is read people like that all day long. It's how I get by in life. Of course, that shouldn't mean much or anything like that but it's just what I read into. The love for his team seemed somewhat force-fed looking at his expression. I believe I heard a while back that he is still locked-up for two more years....but he is barely making around $400K, if that. He may pull a Dunta or Chris Johnson if we don't bump up that salary.

I haven't seen the interview but from the communication management training i've done over the years we are always told that 5% of communication is the words used and the other 95% is all in the way you say it. I'd say that puts you at an advantage when it comes to reading people when they're speaking NH cos all you are focused on is the body language and how they project themselves.
That said i sincerely hope you're wrong on this occasion of course.

Do you mean by that that he seemed somewhat self-centered, preoccupied with himself, with his new found success or am I misunderstanding what you're saying ?

An Exclusive-Rights Free Agent is an NFL player who is not under contract, but has only two years of NFL experience (less than 3 "accrued" years). If his former club (Texans) makes him an offer at the three year veteran minimum salary, then that's it, he has to take it or leave the NFL. These guys have no right to negotiate with other teams. They are "free" only in the sense that they're free to quit.

I saw that to a minor extent when I watched it the first time. After seeing NH's take on it I watched it again with the sound off just for humor. Now I see where NH is coming from, and he may be on to something. Not to beat a dead horse, or sling him off a cliff(too soon?), but he was known for having a bit of an attitude when he came out of college if memory serves me correctly.

The questions they were asking were stupid ones. They kept asking him about Andre Johnson and even asked him about Cortland Finnegan. What? I would look that way too.
Later on he did say that as long as you have a Texan logo on your helmet he's going to play hard for you.

He probably won't (or shouldn't) hold out next year b/c he can't really test the market with other teams & his current status as a exclusive rights FA. Plus no one knows what's going to happen with the lockout crap. He'll likely keep his mouth shut until the year after when he can fully test the market & if he has a season similar to this one, he shoult hit the lotto.

Even though Foster was with the team all of last year including the last 2 games of the season when he started and was the teams primary back and had over 200 hundred yards rushing, it's diffricult to understand that even then Kubiak & Co evidently didn't have a clue what they already had on their roster as they used their #2 pick in this years Draft to take another running back ?

The question of SS is what they probably will say justified the pick. And AF's initial "discipline" problems also. But it still doesn't fully answer the question you bring up.

I could see him holding out and I would fully support him. Its not like hes going to be franchise tagged, hes going to be making the minimum.

If Tate is the kind of player we think he can be we will get 2nd round value out of him for extending Foster's career alone. Never a bad thing to have multiple quality backs in this league. Plus that's a position we might not have to address in the draft for a while outside of the occasional late pick on an upside/system guy.

Consider this - The Eagles are generally considered to be one of the top teams in terms of both coaching and talent evaluation.
They had Mike Vick in camp last year, on the roster all of the 2009 season (including getting him on the field for some wildcat duties), a full off season/ training camp this season, and his previous tenure with the Falcons to evaluate him.
After all this, not only did they restructure Kevin Kolb's contract to reflect the fact that he was the starting QB and heir apparent to Donovan McNabb, it took several games into the season and some waffling/flip flopping on Andy Reid's part before it was clear what the Eagles ultimate decision was at the QB position.
Players sometimes practice differently than they play (both better and worse). Additionally, if two good games was all it took to gain a level of comfort regarding a players long term ability, our RB's at this point would include both Chris Taylor and Ryan Moats.
Also, there was a lot of heat directed to the Texans last year (and with more validity than this argument) regarding the fact that Slaton's sophomore season was a combination of injury and suckitude (probably in reverse order). I can't imagine anyone really expected the Texans to look at Foster and Slaton last April and come to the conclusion that they were set at RB for the '10 season.
Look at our 1-2 backs right now: one is Foster (an UDFA) and his backup is a vet FA pickup and its a solid positiuon for us. That's why I think using the #2 overall has to be an overreation to a legitimate but not top priority need in the presason, especially when you consider our huge needs on defense which were no secret before this season started but now with the play of the defense in the regular season have become even more obvious.
I know hindsite is 20/20, but using our 3rd or 4th or later on another back while using the first 2 or first 3 or even first 4 picks on just D would have been the move. Afterall its been no mystery around here about where this teams weaknesses are ?
Can't go along with your comparison with Vick. He as a player, his very unusual and really infamous history resulting in actual prison time and the whole PR problems involving the league, the PETA thing, etc. make his situation unlike any other we've seen in or out of sports.
Of course many probably had thoughts about the restoration of his enormous skills/talent, but the fear of the risk in his downside was also always present
in their minds. Can you blame them ?

No (That was kind of my point), but blaming them doesn't make any less sense than criticizing the Texans for not going all-in on a UDFA with two meaningful games under his belt and a background of maturity/attitude issues.

I would argue that our defense looked to be in better shape than our running game last year. By a lot actually. Seems like a mix of hindsight and revisionist history.

I saw AF on the "gentlemen's leauge", which is this little skit that airs on DirecTV's channel 101 right after Friday Night Lights, it's part of the filler for the hour long program time at the end because there is no commercials. He was hilarious! Also Owen Daniels and David Anderson have been on there a couple times. Check it out if you can.
