Malcolm Sheppard Waived/Hill activated

Just noticed on transactions page at HT.com that Malcolm Sheppard has been waived. TE Hill has been activated.

I'm shocked that the best DT on the team has been cut. Hold on, I'm not newtexan and am not shocked at all.

Will be interesting to see if Hill gets any play. If he is meant to be the best blocking TE we have it might make our run game even better.

Hill, without doubt will re-inforce our run and even our pass block ability. But don't expect much in the reception numbers. The down side is that teams may tend to get more of a heads up for the run...........but then again, they have to stop it.

This move may be also in anticipation of helping the OTs, especially Winston after his last poor show (injury?)

What?! Wait!?

Commence an immediate suicide watch on newtexan! woe! Alas! What will he do?

Hill, if healthy, should provide help on ST and in certain packages.

crackheads :kitten:

Hill was drafted in 09 10 picks after Quinn in the 4th rd. He is an excellent blocking TE with athletic moves/hands of a Jermichael Finely but as we've seen has exteem difficulty staying healthy on game days.

Yup. He is a small lineman with hands. If he can stay healthy he can be part of interesting 2 te sets.

He won't stay healthy.

He'll get hurt again.

As if there is any doubt about this? I mean, it is what it is.

Get our one or two games out of him, do an injury settlement when the impending injury actually occurs in the near future, and move on. Rick Smith should already have the paperwork drawn up and on the corner of his desk, IMO.

We've got 4 TEs, if OD is good to go. A couple of 3 TE sets sprinkled in there would be even more interesting.

I like the idea of the 2 TE set. I heard that OD may not be avail Thursday. As long as we have Dressen or Casey on the 2 TE set with Hill, we will still have a pass catching TE threat. Having Hill available should help out our running game even more. Not sure what type of special teams player he is.

His name is Anthony Hill, we drafted him in the 4th round of last year's draft. He played in 5 games last year until he tore his ACL against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec.13. Hill has had one catch (for 9 yards against the Colts.) Hill's strengths are in the run game, but he'll mostly be asked to play on Special Teams.

Thats what I am thinking. Having that extra blocker will help the running game and the pass protection. Its like having 6 olineman. Plus if you completely forget about him, he can sneak out and grab a pass or two.

I wonder if we'll even see newtexan around anymore.

Do you guys think newtexan is actually Malcolm Sheppard?

I was going to post a joke about newtexan, but after reading through a few posts on here, it obviously wasn't going to be original. :-\

DR, are ya yankin' us? Or is this for real?:kitten:

I'm not yankin! The ESPN rumor page says that the Colts offered a 4th round pick to the Patriots for him, but the Pats requested at least a 2nd in return for the budding DT! Word is that the Jets also offered a 5th for him, and the Titans offered a 1st + Randy Moss. Nobody knows what will happen, but we'll follow it.

:pissed:

I knew it was a mistake! :heh:

Mark my words, Sheppard will be a very good football player. He'll probably make it to the PS. I expect to see him competing for a starting spot or at the very least, heavy rotation next season. He is a smaller version of Mitchell. I think as his body develops and he gets more time in the weight room as a pro he'll be a very good player.

Vicious motor on this guy.

The titans signed Sheppard off our practice squad.

Titans signed DT Malcolm Sheppard off the Texans' practice squad.

The Texans have been looking for help along the defensive line all year, so the fact that Sheppard has been active for just one game should tell you all you need to know about his chances of making an impact in Tennessee.

The Texans sign

Texans signed DT DeMario Pressley.

A fifth-round pick by the Saints in 2008, Pressley saw regular playing time down the stretch in 2009 only to be released prior to this season.

I regret he's gone, and especially since he was picked up by the enemy. The guy had a real good story.
Did he actually get any playing time while here ?
