*FLUSH* There goes our season. And with it...

... goes Frank Bush, Rick Dennison, and David Gibbs. Kubiak needs to go too, but he may be saved by the grace of a lockout. The conservative approach is to fire all staff but Kubiak, let him hire his own OC, and allow a consultant to find a DC for you. The aggressive approach is to clean house right now so that a new coach can implement his new system before the 2011 lockout.

Of course, we all know what fits McNair's personality, so I'm betting on no midseason changes at HC. But I saw McNair and Smith on the sidelines today in the 1st quarter, so maybe there was a meaningful evaluation. Hopefully they paid attention to how Kubiak didn't figure out how to punish the opposing defense for stuffing the run until the 3rd quarter-- But I doubt it.

What I expect to see is a new DC sometime soon. For those of you wanting Kubiak's head: I'm with you, but because of the lockout, odds are good he'll be the HC in 2011.

EDIT: Another thing McNair saw from the sidelines: We forewent the opportunity to hail Mary at the end of the first half, while the Jaguars won the game doing it in the second.

Ill say it agian i think Kubes wins some games 8-8 maye 9-7

and keeps his job Maybe

I know if the D stays like this All the coaches and some of the players will be gone on the D side of the ball

But i got a hunch Mcnair may keep either Kubes and Fire Rick smith or Keep RIck smith and Fire Kubes ...... thats just the picture im seeing right now

I don't think 8-8 or 9-7 would save Kubiak's job again......not after a 4-2 start. We've also seen that story before, so McNair can't sell it as some "they finished strong and were winners" BULLCRAP! (That still irritates me to this day). McNair said he'd keep Kubiak as long as he feels the team is improving. Where's the "improvement"? You got a badass running game (that your head coach ignores for stretches at a time), but everything else has regressed this year...

QB....regressed (showed flashes today, but isn't the same guy he was last season)
TEs......regressed (I want to see more of Casey)
WRs.....regressed (Andre is Andre, but he's hurt. KW finally showed up to the party and what happened to "Big play" Jones???)
LBs (Don't even want to talk about it, it depresses me)
S (see above
CBs (Oh dear god, see see above
suicide.gif
)
DL (is horrible...Barwin was a HUGE loss, he gives me hope for the future though and Mark Anderson might be a player down the line.)
OL (has been way too inconsistent)

There's no improvement......but I do hope this terd keeps swirling down the drain, so then there's no possible way he survives another offseason.

Just curious, who do you think we'll beat?

QB: Today was the first game of the season that the bootleg provided a big play. It only took 10 weeks, 19 attempts, and Jacksonville's secondary. Last year he could do it in every game. It's doubtful that Schaub will ever find someone who fits him as well as Kyle Shanahan.
TE: Even Yahoo fantasy scouts say that James Casey would be a starter on any other team. We let Kareem get torched because of his ceiling, but Casey is on the bench because he needs time to learn?
LB: Cutting some slack here because of injuries. Cushing had 9 tackles today, so I'm not writing him off yet... But there is a noticeable difference in his performance that has me wondering when Clay Matthews is going to test positive too.
CB: John Clayton opined that we made a huge mistake letting go of Dunta. Personnel mistakes were made at this position, but not the handling of Dunta's ridiculous contract. The stupid mistake was cutting Jaques Reeves for no justifiable reason and replacing him with an unknown quantity in Jackson.
DL: Losing Barwin hurt, and I think Mario's injured, but where is the pressure in the middle? After nine years of yearly DT shuffling, our most reliable DT is a guy we got from the worst team in NFL history.
OL: About as predictable as the Texans' personality. A local sportscaster in Austin said that the Texans are the Margot Kidder of the NFL because of how bi-polar we are. He's right, and it starts at the O-line.

I was in agreement with McNair for four years. "As long as we're improving, Kubiak stays." Well that's fine, but it has left zero room for regression.

And now I'm forced to parrot Second Honeymoon: Sean Payton and the Saints, Holmgren and Mangini with the Browns, Todd Haley and Charlie Weiss in Kansas City... They took a bottom barrel loser and turned things around in one year. We took four, and we barely did it, and we used the best receiver in the league. And now we have the best rusher, but we're regressing?

Maybe Schaub was crying because he knew this game was Kubiak's last chance. That has to be on his mind at this moment. And I honestly don't think Kubiak wants this job anymore either. He doesn't handle the pressure well, and I'm sure life was more enjoyable when he was a beloved OC.

Bush has to go even if Kubiak stays. If Rick Smith is the main man when it comes to players and free agents I think its time for a change. Way to many misses on this team! However, as a long time drinker of the Kubiak Kool-aid I have a bad feeling alot of these bad personnel decisions are his based on his loyalty and or personal feeling for players one way of the other. I see this with Jacoby Jones, as many balls as he drops at bad times he should only be on the field for returns. I think Kubiak only stayed with Slaton so long with all his crappy kick off returns because he is a likable hard working "young man" who is "out there battling".

Some things you can understand, but just don't have the personality for-- Be it sales, management, collection agent... For Kubiak, it's head coach.

You gotta go 5-2 against the Titans twice (1-1 at best), Jets, Eagles and Broncos on the road (1-2 at best), the Ravens and J-ville again ( who knows????), just to get to 9-7.

It's gonna take a miracle for Kubes to finish .500. I do NOT see him staying around for 2011 (even with the pending labor negotiations). At least I hope not.

Getting to 9-7 would deff save Kubes job esp if he beat these teams

Beatting the Jets in NY would be a huge revenge

Beatting THe tacks at home on Battle red Day

Beating Vick and Philly on TNF is a good way to show off our team

Followed by beating the Ravens on MNF back to back prime time wins

Losing to the Tacks at tenn

Getting beat in Denver by TIm Tebow ..hey it could happen

and losing to the Jags since the jags might be fighting for a WC spot and not us

9-7 tho i think we will win our last 2 and prob lose to Philly and the Jets

one week at a time tho guyz i dont care what anyone says the Jets look Mortal at home or away if they got hard games from the Browns and lions we have a chance IMO

No, Kubiak has hired ALL of the assistant coaches and coordinators. We see how THAT is going. If, IF, you keep him, you hire a GM and let them A. Decide if he will be your coach and B. Who is installed around him. THis all being said, **** Kubiak's sorry ass.

You need to take those koolaid glasses off. The Browns and Lions are franchises on their way up while the Texans are still running in place and never moving forward. This will be 9 years in a row of crappy mediocre football and a never expanding fan base because of it. If McNair keeps Kubiak after this season of no playoffs and a losing season then he may finally see in year 10 a reliant stadium half empty. Fans are growing extremely tired of the same old same old. What free agent can you attract here if we stand pat once again? Without a big name coaching change here I believe we will lose our own free agents and fail to attract any good players to come here. Who would want to play for a team that consistantly plays .500 ball and does nothing to give anyone hope that they may finally change that 9 year mindset?

It's a nice fantasy to think about while doing my walking in the morning, but the Texans ain't making the playoffs. They will be in their living rooms and watching the playoffs on TV again. Just like their pissed off fans.

If what you wanted for this year was play offs, this season is over with as of the Jags loss yesterday. There just simply isn't any way this team in it's present condition will win the next six in a row, much less go 5-1 and maybe squeak into the playoff at 10-6.

At best we are looking at another 9-7 or worse for this year.

I didn't think we would have a winning record the moment I saw the schedule get released. At the same time I am very upset with this team not making the playoffs this year as I have been with them since 2002, and even a season ticket holder since 06.

This JAX loss is the kind of heart-breaking loss that a team can withstand when it wins the games it should. Cowboys game, Washington game, and even 2nd Indy game. I am looking in your direction.

While I dont get emotional about losses like this anymore, I am still a bit curious as how the Texans are so bad in the first half? How does an awful team keep you to 3 points? Why does it take you until the 2nd half to wake up every game?
