Question about Cardinals, just curious

Has anyone ever seen them wear black before? I don't watch a lot of Cards football, but, I can't remember ever seeing them wear black.

I know, a WOMAN question, but, just curious and thought I would ask!idonno:

The Cardinals officially went black to the future Thursday.

Using the annual draft party as a backdrop, the Cards unveiled their alternate third jersey at Majerle’s Sports Grill in Chandler a few hours before making their first-round selection in the 2010 NFL draft.

The jersey is predominantly black, and will be worn with white pants that have a black stripe with a red accent, as well as black socks.

I thought they've worn them before but I must be confused with Philadelphia for some reason.

Nine NFL teams wore alternate color uniforms last season: Baltimore (black), Carolina (process blue), Chicago (orange), Cincinnati (orange), Houston (red), Denver (orange), Philadelphia (black), San Diego (light blue) and Seattle (green). There were also a handful of teams that wore historic -- or "throwback" -- jerseys.

Anyway I thought they looked pretty slick.

Cards have a uniform blackout

Yes, in a secret horribly kept, the Cardinals have officially announced they will have a new third alternate jersey starting in 2010, a black top that as far as I can tell, most fans have been clamoring for for years. It’ll be worn with white pants; sorry, the same white helmet remains (teams can’t have an alternate helmet unless it was their primary helmet at some point in the franchise’s history).

Cards have a uniform blackout

There was a study done in the late 80's that showed that teams that wear all black or mostly black jerseys are viewed on a psychological level as being more aggresive, more tough, etc. They are also called for more penalties.

Heres a link to an easy to read explanation:

Maybe the Cards were trying to "get tougher"

That link leads to a blog that only cites one source. That one source, of course, is a dead link.

I hate to complain, because I am glad that you brought it up. That is a very fascinating subject. I'm just disappointed that I can't confirm it.

Thanks guys! It was strange seeing them in black. Didnt know it was the Cards until I saw the red Cardinal on the helmet. Truthfully, I didn't like it, very boring.

I'm colorblind, so I thought they were red at first.
