Texans Prepare to Face Off Against Undefeated Rival

This week the Texans face perhaps their most bitter rival: Bye. In the brief history of the franchise, Houston has struggled to take the upper hand in this matchup, with the current record standing at 0-0. This week provides an opportunity to settle the score, in a game that many have billed as the single most important game in franchise history.

Matchups:

Houston Passing Attack vs. Bye Pass Defense:

Matt Schaub returns with his full arsenal of weapons, as Andre Johnson and Jacoby Jones have healed up significantly, while Owen Daniels looks more and more like his old self with each passing week. This offense has struggled at times, most notably against Dallas and New York, but for the most part has been an effective and cohesive unit. Expect the Texans to put up impressive numbers against this Bye secondary that is not much better than Washington's. - Advantage: Houston

Houston Running Game vs. Bye Run Defense:

Arian Foster enters this game with his rushing crown still intact. Derrick Ward has also been very effective off the bench. Though not quite as poor as Indy's run defense, Bye's D will only be able to stuff 0 in the box; and that simply is not enough to stop Foster and co. from having a field day. - Advantage: Houston

Bye Running Game vs. Houston Run Defense:

This could go either way. If #0 drops back, fakes the pass, then hands off to #0, the Texans will have a long day. Even against imaginary halfbacks, the Texans have not demonstrated any ability to stop the draw play. - Advantage: Push

Bye Passing Attack vs. Houston Pass Defense:

When it comes to covering air, nobody does it better than Frank Bush's secondary unit. However, Kareem Jackson and co. will probably find a way to get torched anyway. - Advantage: Bye

Great thread. However in all seriousness, There is still plenty at stake this weak & Houston can actually win/lose this weekend.

Division Games to watch:
Jacksonville @ Kansas City

Are the Jaguars ready to call it quit, or will they fight to the bitter end? There are serious QB issues in Jacksonville, questionable defense, but they've still got Jones Drew, the heart & soul of the Jaguar offense. If they pull off a win this week, do not expect them to exit the fight for the AFC South crown.​

Philly @ Tennessee

Will VY get the start? Will Chris Johnson move ahead of Arian Foster as the leagues leading rusher (39 yards short)? Will the Titans be victorious?
The Texans (& more directly) & the Colts could use a Titan's defeat to clear up the log jam at the top of the AFC South​

Conference Games
It's about the Wildcard. Current division leaders are:
NYJets @ 5-1
Good wins against New England, Miami, and Minnesota. Their only loss is to a pretty good Baltimore Ravens. While their schedule isn't easy, there isn't one game against a team they can't beat. Miami beat them at home last year & they still have to go to New England, Pittsburgh, & Chicago. They're on a bye this week, but next week they'll have to play the Green Bay packers in NY. But overall, this is another team that can realistically set the bar at 11 games.​
Pittsburgh @ 5-1
Baltimore is hot on their heels. Pittsburgh may end up playing for a wild card. Baltimore, NYJets, & Oakland are the only common opponents. If we're both 10-6, those three games may be the deciding factor. Pittsburgh however, has a tough road ahead for ten wins, with games against Miami, New Orleans, Cincinnati (x2), New England, Baltimore, & the NYJets.​
Kansas City @ 3-2
More than likely they'll be fighting for a Wild Card spot. Since we won the head-to-head... that's what we need to be shooting for. If we beat San Diego in two weeks, it won't matter. They play Jacksonville in week 7, so to help us in the division, we want them to beat the Jags​

Runner ups are:
New England @ 4-1
They lost Randy Moss & the team got better.... what? Okay, so it's only one week. But did you expect anything less from Belichick?​
Miami @ 3-2
Yes, Miami. They have good wins against Minnesota & Green Bay. Losses to New England, & NYJets. You never know what you're going to get with this team, but the QB looks solid, Cameron Wake looks like a probowler, and the Dolphins look like the real thing.​
Baltimore @ 4-2
They've beat the Jets. They've beat the Steelers. Their defense is as advertised allowing a league second best 15.3 ppg, & their offense is gearing up, scoring 20 points in 3 of their last 4 games. This team is very dangerous. They made the play-offs last year @ 9-7, their schedule from here on out isn't easy, but with Buffalo, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Cleveland & yes Houston remaining, it's better than some. 8-8 is virtually gauranteed, with winnable games against Miami, Atl, Pitts, New Orleans, & Cincinnati this team may set the Wild-Card at 11 games.​

Dark Horses:
Cincinnati @ 2-3
They're probably done. Their next four games are @ Atlanta, Miami, Pittsburgh, @ Indy. If it isn't over now, it may very well be before week 11. Even if they manage to do well over that stretch, they still have games on their scedule against New Orleans, @ Pittsburgh, San Diego, @ Baltimore.​
San Diego @ 2-4
They are only one game down from where they were this time last year. Week 7 of 2009 began their 11 game win streak which carried them into the play-offs @ 13-3. If they were to repeat such a feat this year, that would move Kansas City to a possible Wild Card contestant. With a head to head victory over KC The Texans would be in good shape.​

So to help the Texans this week, We want
The Eagles to beat the Titans
Kansas City to beat the Jaguars
San Diego to beat New England
Buffalo to upset the Ravens
Miami to beat Pittsburgh
Minnesota to beat Grean Bay (that way they'll be pissed and take it out on the Jets in week 8)
& The Giants to beat Dallas (why not?)

You make a very valid point about this week. If the majority of what we want to happens pans out, then we got very good chances of making things happen for us in Nov, and an early Nov loss to Indy doesn't really do alot of damage to us, and a win over them has us sitting pretty good.

I would have more faith in Eagles beating Tenn. if MV was playing. Kolb hasn't done well against pressure and Vick just kind of makes a defense have to sit back a tad bit more. TENN 5-2

Everyone says KC is a tough place to play. We just found out they are a tough team to beat. I honestly believe the reason for their two losses is because of the better offenses they played. That being said, I don't think Trent Edwards can right the ship for Jville so fast. Jville 3-4 KC 4-2

You forgot to update most of those teams.
 
I actually think Bye has the edge on ST and coaching.

Steve Slaton will still trip all over himself and fall at the 20, while bye has a better football mind than Frank Bush and has a better concept of a time clock than Kubiak.

I would go Bye, 111 - Texans 35.

Judging by the overwhelming sentiment on this board, I can only imagine that we will somehow pick up a loss tomorrow, despite not playing a game.

Good post, man. I think there's a good shot of Philly beating Tennessee and KC beating Jacksoffville.

I want Green Bay to beat Minnesota though, any freakin' day.
