Is next weeks game a must win?

We are currently tied with the Jags for first place in the AFC South.

But we're 1-2 at home. & they have been some bad, bad loses.

Before the season started, most of us counted the KC game as a win...

Would be nice, to go into the bye at 4-2.

Absolutely. If they can't be counted on to win a game at home against that team, then we have no business believing that they are a playoff team.

Before the season started I would have been happy with 3-3 before the bye. Then the Texans found a running game and somehow misplaced their defense and passing offense. I'm hoping that we DON'T go into the bye with 3-3, because the Texans can beat the Chiefs.

If we lose to the Chiefs, the season is over. The schedule is very brutal after the bye. We need all the wins we can get. We must be 4-2 heading into Indy on MNF.

KC kept Peyton Manning from scoring a passing TD today? So if this is a must win, we're in trouble. IMO.

Every game is a must win, in the NFL. It would be nice to see a couple of home wins this season.

To keep up in the division and also as a conference win, yes, it is a must win.

How that actually is achieved after seeing todays team on the field, I got no idea, and even less hope, of a win.

Two possible paths ahead.

We win the game and we're 4-2. We go into the bye week and rest up, then come out and go to Indy for the MNF game to face a more than likely god-mode Peyton Manning dead set on his revenge for the season opener. What happens? Who knows? I'll be happy if we're even in that position at that point.

OR

We lose against KC and go into our bye week at 3-3. We rest up, spend a couple of weeks bitching about how we were in the drivers seat and now we're at .500 and no longer in first place.

Right now the division is like this

Houston 3-2
Jacksonville 3-2
Indianapolis 3-2
Tennessee 3-2

We lose to KC, Indianapolis beats Washington, and Jacksonville beats Tennessee and it becomes

Jacksonville 4-2
Indianapolis 4-2
Houston 3-3
Tennessee 3-3

Then we come out of our bye and go to Indianapolis where we "face a more than likely god-mode Peyton Manning dead set on his revenge for the season opener."

End result? More than likely we lose that game and so now the division looks like this

Indianapolis 5-2
Jacksonville 5-2 (beat the Cowboys that week like everybody but us seems to do)
Tennessee 4-3 or 3-4 (depending on the outcome of their game at San Diego)
Houston 3-4

Back in the cellar following a nationally televised ass whipping will not end my following the standings but it will pretty much crush every bit of joy I get from this sport out of my heart. At that point we're looking at beginning the "murderers row" portion of our schedule. If we fall to 3-4 then I think a better than .500 record will be tough for this team to manage.

There are so few games in an NFL season, I tend to think they're all must win games.

The Texans should be undefeated. The fact that they're almost at .500 after opening up 2-0 tells me they're still the same old 8-8 team they've been since Kubiak took over.

**sigh**

Texans should bounce back after today's loss and head into bye week happily.
And then its Texans (4-2) vs colts (4-2)

winner takes 5-2 :) looser takes 4-3 :(
4-3 would suck after a 2-0 start

No. 3-4 would suck after a 2-0 start... and a 3-1 first quarter.

I don't think I even mentioned in my post above that of course it's a must win. Every single game is a must win for the Texans this year and every game they play the way they did today is an opportunity lost. They need to end the first half of the season at 6-2. That's not possible if they lose to KC, or lose to Indy, or lose to San Diego.

Of course that's a tall order and you have to take them one game at a time. It would be a lot easier to pull off if we were 4-1 right now though.

For any Texans fan to mark a win against the Jags or Titans right now,
you're dreaming. If you are marking a win against the Colts on MNF, lolz.
The Chiefs are NOT a team to take lightly. They are a young, WELL COACHED
football team. All three of the major coaches on their staff, won rings with
the Patriots, as coordinators, during the early Brady years.

That means, to expect a tough defense from Romeo Crennell.
That means, to expect a decent offense with Charlie Weis.
Offensively, Matt Cassell is decent. The Texans have made
decent quarterbacks look like probowlers. Can't laugh at Cassell.
Jamal Charles is a good runningback having his best year. Duane Bowe
is a decent receiver, and I may be missing another one of their weapons.

The Texans are Jeckyll/Hyde right now, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised
if they got their asses handed to them again next week. I wouldn't be
surprised if the Texans walked into this game thinking to himself, "We got
Cush back. The Bears layed down, and the Giants ain't no good. We
GOT THIS!"

Somebody needs to tell those 53 scrubs "YOU AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO JUST
"SHOW UP." If the Chiefs shove-it-up on the Texans, don't be surprised.

Realistically, there are too many divisional games left to call any game "must wins" yet.

If we go by past history with Kubiak as head coach division games are what the Texans are worst at. Never had a winning division record with Kubiak as head coach.

Consider that it took a blocked FG, a kicker icing, a tremendous 4th down Andre catch, another big 4th down play to not lose to Washington. This team has only played one good game so far. The had moments against the Raiders, but it wasn't a complete game. I don't even know if they feel like the same old 8-8 team right now.

at this point every game is a must win intill we secure a PS berth .. then yeah every game is a must win

Turns on homer mode

Its teh Cheifs on teh road WE ARE going to murk thoes fools

go into our Bye all happy and rested

Go into indy finally say enough is enough and wipp indys ASS Foster will pick right were he left off and run for like 231 Yards

then we will go on to beat the Chargers paper weight champs ass wipp up on VY and Get revenge on teh Jets

so what would that be like 7-2 that seems nice

Homer mode off

While I don't exactly disagree with that, I tend to agree most with what Bill Parcells said a few years ago: you are what your record says you are.

All teams have losses they should have won and wins they should have lost. It evens out.

In the end, you are what your record says you are.

The Texans won their first two games. Terrific.

But now they've lost two out of their last three.

This really reminds me of the way Jerry Glanville's teams would play. Like a bunch of schizophrenics. That doesn't speak very well of Gary Kubiak.

This team has talent. They should be more consistent.

yeah, you got kinda wrapped up in reality of the situation :ant:

Thank you sir may I have another!!!

I didn't know Todd Haley came from the tree of Belichick... learn something new every day.

we are playing the Pats jr we beat teh real pats last year so hey maybe we can win this week

KC is a much improved team since the last meeting. the Texans have been very inconsistant. should be a battle but I think the loss today drills in the importance of winning heading into their bye week.

I could almost smell the we're-somehow-supposed-to-lose-today-so-let's-YAAAAWN-pretent-we're-trying crap very early in this game. Maybe it's just it's-a-nonconference-game-and-we-don't-care. Maybe Kubiak is just weird and so is his team. Maybe it's rigged. Maybe New York has a LOT of viewers who the NFL doesn't want to lose. I don't know, but I smell something sickening....maybe it's the crap our whole team smoked before the game. It stinks.

KC is a good team and I have a feeling that Houston will show up for it and suddenly look all professional again. After all, Houston has a bigger market...

Normally, I don't buy into conspiracy theories, but your's is starting to make sense....and that scares me
