Texans v Cowboys arguments

Beer Me
So this week there has been a lot of trash talk from Cowboys fans, even though they're 0-2. So I have developed OK arguments for their comments.

1) 5 RINGS!!!!
The last time they won the Super Bowl was in 1996. I was 10 years old, what does that have anything to do now. I don't brag on things I did when I was 10, I talk about things I am doing now.
NOTE: I will always remember the time when the Texans Super Bowl, but I vow to never use it in an argument 10 years after.

2) YOU JUST GOT YOUR FIRST WINNING SEASON EVER!!!!
It took the Cowboys 7 seasons at the beginning of the Cowboys franchise, it took us 8.

3) NEVER MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!!
See #2

Curious to see what kind of trash talking you guys are getting? Any good arguments?

I don't get how either party can trash talk to be honest. The Cowboys are 0-2 and the Texans........ I mean it is sports though so its in our nature. In regards to the 5 Super Bowl rings well its not like they have a expiration date. Once you win a championship you claim them for EVER.

It's like the guy who can't let go of his high school glory days and now he is a bum, nobody cares what you did in the past.

Well if that's the case than no one can trash talk but the Saints and even then they can't because their championship is in the "past" lol.

Cowboys still Suck and Cowboys still Suck
I want a sticker to put on my truck
Cowboys still Suck and Cowboys still Suck
They pester us with 5, I do not give a ****
Cowboys still Suck and Cowboys still Suck
They claim it was Campo and swear it was luck
Cowboys still Suck and Cowboys still Suck

Guys, make no mistake about this, Im Texan thru and thru. Just read this little tidbit in an article and thought Id share it with you.

"The Texans have to be wary of over-pursuit: Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders says the Cowboys ran more draws than any other offense in 2009. Houston was the league's worst defense against draws last year, allowing an average of 7.6 yards per carry. We talked about the Texans' ability to be patient on offense. They’ve got to do the same on defense to avoid getting burned by run plays that need a bit of time to develop"

We need to be patient.......

On the record: I am very worried about this game. It has now turned into a must win for the cowboys as opposed to the texans.

My how the tables have turned......

Actually, they (the Saints) are the current World Champs Until ~ Feb. of 2011.

The 'Gurls have won one playoff game during the existence of the Houston Texans. Oh and see #2 above.

Out of all our employees at the dealership, we have 1 cowboy fan. He is a tad bit obnoxious.

He can up to me before the pre-season game and started in on being the typical cowboy fan and I told him to stop right there. I told him if the Texans win, you will come out and say well it was just a meaningless preseason game that does not mean anything and that he would just make up excuses as to why the Cowboys lost and give no credit to why the Texans won.

I told him, I would not "rub it in his face" if the Texans won and he would do the same if the Girls won. He sure did look down in the dumps after that game, but I did not harrass him about it.

We have had a couple of discussions about the Cowboys, but I have not teased him or harrassed him about the state of his team. We have a deal in place that if the Texans win, I again will not tease him or harrass him about his team and the same from him if the Texans should happen to lose.

Friday, he was making a comment to another worker, that he might just have to take Monday off if the Girls lose as a lot of the other employees will harrass him constantly. Think he is being harrassed on a regular basis by others. Being on the other end of harrassment is not fun for this cowboy fan. I know some of you are thinking that he is getting what he deserves and I agree with that - sort of. Not harrassing him has actually been kind of fun, watching him struggle each Monday morning as his cocky attitude slips lower ans lower and lower.

I think I maybe getting a new insight on Cowboy fans. They are just fans of a team like we are fans of the Texans. Things have been going their way for a long time and they have a history of winning. We have been struggling over our existence. While we know what it is like to be a fan of a losing or mediocre team, Cowboy fans really don't. This (hopefully) is their season to learn and be on the bottom looking up.

I think my point to this is that after we win on Sunday, lets try to stay classy as fans and not get too obnoxious. After all it is just the 3rd game of the season and there are 13 more to go before we reach our goal this year.

I think a loss by the Cowgirls will make most of their obnoxious fans very, very quiet. After all isn't that what we want?

I've never seen a Dallas fan make this argument as to why they would win an individual game... If it's history we're talking, Dallas' history is obviously much more exstensive and impressive than Texans is, but nobody in their right mind thinks this will have any impact on the game.... The only times I see Dallas fans bringing up the 5 rings, is when they're debating the better franchise history with a rival, or when a fan of a much lesser franchise (Eagles) brings up no playoff wins since 1996, or now it's only 1 playoff win since 1996...

2) YOU JUST GOT YOUR FIRST WINNING SEASON EVER!!!!

Kudos on a winning season, and I expect another this year... I see last season as an indication that the Texans are likely a team on the rise... What's your problem?

3) NEVER MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!!

If the Texans had made the playoffs 5 or 10 years ago, that would have no relation to the game on Sunday... However, being that Dallas did make the playoffs last season, and that they've finished over .500 in each of the past 5 seasons, that could help make the argument that Dallas is still a very good team, despite an 0-2 start... For me though, I still expect to see a struggling Dallas team vs a rising Texans team playing at home, which should unfortunately result in a Houston win...

Curious to see what kind of trash talking you guys are getting? Any good arguments?

There's no Dallas fans talking much trash around here, so you felt the need to wage hypothetical argument with yourself? Okay then.............................. Nothing strange about that.................

I think the championships can still be brought up if you have players...currently on the team that has that success with that team.

So the Colts, Pats, Ravens, Steelers, etc can still brag about it. Because it actually matters, it actually means something they have players that went out and won a championship for that team. They can actually say "Well we have guys that are proven winners."

It gets silly when championships 15 years ago are brought up, those past players have nothing to do with the current ones.

While Cowboy fans do get to brag and boast about those championships, it's weak smack. To me it really says "Our current team isn't really better than yours so lets talk about our past one instead?"

I think most Dallas fans are already as "quiet" as they're gonna get, because we're already 0-2 and most are expecting 0-3... It's just embarrassing that a team with so much potential is playing soooo badly... That's the thing though, for this Dallas team, on the bottom looking up, could mean still going 9-7, but missing the playoffs... The Texans have never faced a fraction of the pressure that Dallas faces in most seasons... The more success Houston finds, the more they will find the pressure to stay on top amplified... The Texans are 2-0 and at home vs an 0-2 team, this will be our first little glimpse at how this Texans team will respond to being the front-runner, being the hunted, rather than the hunter...

Good post anyway... And yes, hopefully no matter who wins, the fans can maintain the level of class that should be shown from us Texans...

I wish I could find the quote from Jimmy Johnson when he was basically talking about if he had the team on the roof of a building and he placed the board across two rooftops and asked the guys to walk across it. Most wouldn't either do it or be able to do it, but he takes the same board and lays it on the ground, about all would be able to walk across the board .... just depends on one's focus... are you focusing on the board or the ground

hopefully the Texans are focusing on the board :jogger:
