Why is everyone else able to keep their #1 selection under wraps while we go leaking it everywhere? I remember us announcing the signing of Mario the nifht before the draft as well as Carr being mobbed a week prior.

I think there's going to be a top pick trade.

I feel really prepared for the draft this year.

All the mocking we have been doing on here has me familiar with more prospects than ever.

No doubt that will all be for nought, when they draft some guy I've never heard of in the 4th round.

There are multiple scenarios under which I would leave the first round happy, the one I wouldn't be happy with is us taking Mathews at 20 or higher (trade up).

YES, I am preparing to be disappointed and looking forward to being proven wrong.
 
I wouldn't be shocked if we drafted a no name in the first round. If they draft another guy i'm unfamilar with like Cushing then i'll have no complaints.
 
Not to burst y'all's bubbles, but I have learned my lesson and not concerned myself at all with the draft this year. I don't know who's in it, who I'd want for this team, or whether we should trade up, down, sideways, or diagonally. I will not get upset when I find out who we did get, which will never be who I would've taken (whoever that is). I do still reserve the right to gripe about it 3 or 4 years down the road, though....or as soon as I find out who we got and don't have a clue what I'm talking about. :)

In my ignorant bliss I will just say, "Draft all the best players!" and be done with it for now.

If I'm not working tonight, I hope to make it. I've never even been to Reliant stadium yet. I need to go sometime just to check it out.

Because Carr was as much of a PR selection as it was a personnel selection, and our 2006 #1 pick was contingent on signing prior to the draft. You have to look way back to the 2009 to find another #1 selection, Matt Stafford, who was signed and announced prior to the draft. A rare occurrence, indeed.

Wasn't Jake Long signed before being drafted by Miami #1 too?
 
Does any one know how much time each team gets to pick tonight, and if so, then what time should we expect the Texans to pick?

I think they dropped it to 10 minutes last draft. If it's still 10 min then I'd expect the Texans on the clock between 9:30 and 10:30. Probably closer to 10 PM.

don't hold me to it but,i think i saw 10 min.Also think that we'll be picking around 9:30 or so...

10 minutes per pick, we pick 20th so 200 minutes after the draft starts at the very latest.

So that means we'll pick before 10pm Central Time probably.
 
Thanks for the heads up about the 10 min intervals. Just found the info on wikipedia, which confirmed the time. I might miss some of the start, but will definitely be around when the Texans pick.

6 and a half hours to go! Probably add on another couple few hrs before the Texans pick.

Is anyone elses clock going extra slow today??? I think mines broke.
 
It starts at 6:30 CT tonight right?

I'm good with any number of players from Mathews, to numerous secondary guys. I really want either a top RB or a top back 4 guy, but if they throw me for a loop and pick another position that is clearly a top flight guy, I'm down with that as well. My dream scenerio is Earl Thomas, but I would say the odds of him being there at #20 are 5-10% at best.

Go with around 9:45 - 10:00 look for some last second trades that could push the clock back another 10 minutes.

Surprisingly my day is going past pretty well which is odd when I am looking forwards to the draft so much and the days in hospital with Aria normally drag on and on...
 
As long as whoever they get in the 1st round starts and makes a difference I'm good with it. Although I have to say, if it's not a DB, DT, O-lineman or a RB in the 1st round, I'm gonna kinda be WTF?

When it comes to the Texans, you guys are at a pretty good spot, you should have at least 1 good player drop to you, if not 2-3.
 
With my luck, the commish will say "The Houston Texans have traded their first, second and third picks for 2011 selections and an old, fat running back from (fill in the team name)."
 
I am starting to just wish Mathews is around at 20 and get it done, but I am getting a bit worried that he will be gone. If he is... then trade back if at all possible (hard to pull of for sure) and gain an extra 2 or 3 to become a bit more flexible with the RB situation. Does Toby last till our current 2nd round pick? Who else is worth that spot at RB that fits what we are looking for? I am afraid of a repeat of last year where the RBs we targeted kept being taken before they got to us. Not to mention a CBs seem deeper in the second round to me.
 
Just a short question: since the draft will be on at 1:30am here in Germany, how long does each team have to submit his pick this year? Still 15 minutes like last year? That would mean I´d have a long night ahead of me...
