Big Ben accused of sexual assault, again

Officer in charge of GA investigation resigns.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5099224

ATLANTA -- The Georgia police officer who took the first report from the woman who accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has resigned.

Milledgeville police Chief Woodrow Blue on Friday confirmed that Sgt. Jerry Blash resigned Wednesday, a day before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation made public all documents related to its investigation of a 20-year-old woman's claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors announced earlier this week that they are not charging Roethlisberger in the March 5 incident. Blash is the only officer who interviewed the quarterback. He acknowledged in an interview with investigators that he made some derogatory comments about the accuser to other officers.

Man this just keeps getting worse and worse. What a coverup...

So far we've got videotapes that mysteriously disappeared.
A lead cop investigator who was seen taking photos with Ben and making disparaging remarks about the accuser. And who later resigns without reason and won't return calls.
A bar manager who doesn't give a crap either way.

And tons of money probably changing hands....

Am i forgetting anything else?

yeah , what a mess.

Its obvious by the position of the Steelers orginization and the NFL that there was some wrong doing here and the only reason he isnt being charged is because of who he is .... The fact that he will likely get suspended for a couple , maybe four games kinda pisses me off.

This guy is a jackass on the level with Buck Fud.

Next time , yes , I think he'll do it again because this is #3 he's gotten away with , Next time I hope he gets 50 years. People who do **** like this dont deserve to walk among us.

I know , I know - Innocent until proven guilty .....

I know , I know - Innocent until proven guilty .....

Well, what's he guilty of? We know for a fact that he participated in intoxicating this young woman. We do not know to what degree, nor can we say for certain what his intent was. We know that they had sex in the bathroom at a bar. Ugh. We know that he posted his bodyguards at the door to prevent anyone from interfering. We know that the young woman's friend tried to intercede and was turned away by said bodyguards. And we know about the things gtexan mentioned above.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say we know he's guilty of being a scumbag.

As has been his pattern, he refuses to wear head protection.

If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it's a rat.

My personal opinion is that the acusations are true. But there is not enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

It just goes to show you, if you have enough money, and a little luck you can get out of anything.

Look to your left [BELOW ON THIS POST]. That Ben Roethlisberger/Amber Hanley picture sure is classy. Piecing together a night at a bar from just a few photographs is tricky. Lucky for Ben Roethlisberger, Amber Hanley – his accuser – has only proved he was a jerk.

All the sports blogs are reporting that Ben Roethlisberger is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault in a club, Capital City. Ben Roethlisberger's accuser's identity has been shielded from media attention, but Amber Hanley has made sure that people know what she thinks of the Super Bowl star.

The Amber Hanley/Ben Roethlisberger photo on the left was apparently taken the night that the sexual assault took place. The authorities are investigating.

The AP says that Amber Hanley asked Ben Roethlisberger to take a photo with her boyfriend, but:

…he seemed disappointed that's all she wanted. Amber Hanley said she rolled her eyes, and Roethlisberger called her an expletive and walked away. Later, Ben Roethlisberger was aggressively hitting on another girl, Amber Hanley said. [the one eventually assaulted that night]

Can't make much of the above picture. It probably re-enforces his claim of innocence............He treats ALL of his BITCHES that way [notice, you can't tell what Ben is doing with his left hand.....but he sure has a big grin!]:

First, in 08 I gave Ben my trust but after the reports I have heard and seen not anymore. This guy is a complete sack of **** I am sorry but this is insane.

I have no idea how a team could keep its fans if they traded for Roethlisburger. It's one thing to be the Steelers and being kind of stuck with him. But, to essentially take advantage of the fact that he essentially raped a girl in order to get good value for a starting QB... if my team did that, they wouldn't be my team anymore!

Really, you have no idea? :specnatz:

not sure how accurate the smoking gun is , but it is claiming to have the police report

Police reports detail NFL quarterback's unseemly night in Georgia

APRIL 15--The college student who accused Ben Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her last month in a Georgia nightclub told cops that the NFL star approached her "with his penis out of his pants" and followed her into a bathroom, where "he had sex with me" in spite of her objections.

The victim's account is included in 572 pages of Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) records detailing the probe of the booze-fueled March 5 incident involving the athlete and the 20-year-old woman, both of whom had spent that evening barhopping in Milledgeville, a college town 90 miles southeast of Atlanta. The woman told police that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback raped her in a bathroom adjacent to the VIP section of the Capital City club.

In one of two handwritten police statements, the woman recalled that she told Roethlisberger, "No, this is not OK, and he then had sex with me. He said it was OK. He then left without saying anything." After the woman reconnected with friends, they left the club and "went to the first police car we saw," according to one statement.

Suspension will probably be handed down by the NFL today. But, what about the Steelers organization. Why have they not stood up yet?

"The issue here is with respect to a pattern of behavior and bad judgments," Goodell continued on Patrick's show. "You do not have to be convicted, or even charged with a crime, to be able to demonstrate that you've violated a personal conduct policy, reflect poorly not only on themselves, but all of their teammates, every NFL player, and everyone associated with the NFL. I have expressed that directly with [Roethlisberger]."

A team's standards of "misconduct" seem to have a higher threshhold for action than the NFL.

Goodell has discussed impugning the integrity of the league and all its personnel. He's indicated the mere appearance of inappropriate behavior warrants discipline, and the Steelers have openly admitted the sole reason they haven't exacted punishment upon their star quarterback is because of legal retaliation on the part of the league's players association.

What exactly are you looking for them to do? The Steelers have indicated they are in lock-step with the league on this, and that any punitive action will be a mutual agreement between the team and the league.

The reality is that while the league can and has issued indefinite suspensions, if I'm not mistaken, the maximum number of games that a team can suspend someone (without pay) is four games. Additionally, as you indicated, a team suspension is also much more susceptible to challenge by the NFLPA.

i know a lot of people want teams to "send a message" or whatever, but it's just not that simple. the union (fairly) has to watch out for their players, and especially with this case, there's a minefield of opportunities to get in trouble with the union. Ben will get his comeupance, no worries there

Well throw the Colt's Eric Foster into the mix... He is being sued by a hotel employee:

Report: Civil suit filed against Colts DT Foster

Indianapolis - A hotel employee has filed a four-count civil suit against Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Eric Foster.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting on its website that a Valparaiso-based attorney is filing the complaint on behalf of a student at IUPUI who works as a receptionist at the University Place Hotel. Attorney April Board told the paper she was forced to file the civil suit because the IUPUI Police Department mishandled her client's case.

Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi decided in February that he would not seek criminal charges against Foster

Big Ben wants to be a role model to kids. Lol. Seriously.

But given the situation, it's impossible to ignore the guy when he says, "I absolutely want to be the leader this team deserves, valued in the community and a role model to kids."

This is too rich. Given the information we now know -- sordid details of a famous quarterback hounding his way, security guards in tow, through the dive-bar crawl in a backwater college town -- the idea of Roethlisberger emerging from the bathroom to resume the hard but obligatory work of being a role model for America's youth is remarkable for its ability to combine sheer ignorance with an unbreakable sense of entitlement.

It takes a lot to shock us. It takes a lot to insult us. We're a resilient people, accepting beyond the point of numbness. After all, we live in the age of fathers speaking to sons from beyond the grave for the purpose of repackaging yesterday's Jesus into today's ... well, Jesus. And if all goes well, to sell a few 7-irons along the way.

But this might beat it: Big Ben as role model? It sounds like the beginning of a Chris Rock bit. Even Tiger didn't try this one. Sexual assault allegations follow Roethlisberger around at a rate far out of proportion to the rest of society -- they're his shadow, really -- and he considers himself a role model? At best, he's a very unlucky guy with a propensity for attracting women -- OK, girls -- with a habit for false accusation. At worst, he's a serial predator. Read the police report, decide for yourself.

Honestly this is bullshit , although it is more than I expected from the NFL- The cops covered it up and he gets away with a sex crime and the NFL suspends him. Hardly a fitting consequence.

.........and it could evidently be less than 4 games if he meets "conditions" of "good behavior." What does that mean?........going a week without having thoughts of raping a 20-year-old girl in a dirty nightclub bathroom stall?.........or just using better jugement and choosing a clean stall next time?

6 games it is.

gregaiello

Commish notified Ben he must undergo comprehensive behavorial evaluation and is suspended for six games.

Commish w/review Ben's progress prior 2 season & consider reducing suspension 2 4 games. Failure 2 cooperate cud lead to longer suspension.

Steelers Reportedly Shopping Big Ben For a Top-10 Draft Pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers are, according to reports, actively shopping Ben Roethlisberger, and seeking a top-10 pick in the 2010 draft in exchange for the oft-troubled quarterback after learning of his suspension today.

The first question on hand -- will they actually trade him? -- is easily answerable: yes, yes they will. Of course, Pittsburgh would need to receive legitimate compensation in return; Roethlisberger's off-field issues are clearly a complete nightmare for the Steelers front office, but that doesn't mean they can just sling him for 50 cents on the dollar. After all, he has won a few games since being drafted.

Additionally, Steelers fans, based on the knee-jerk reaction of a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette poll, are actually pretty willing to move Big Ben -- whether they simply disapprove of someone with his off-field record, or 60 percent of the folks who've voted are simply in "last-straw" mode is hard to tell. But if more than half of Pittsburgh's fan base wants him gone and state so in a democratic fashion, it's impossible to think the front office won't at least recognize that.

The other question -- who would take him? -- is a little harder to answer. The Redskins (following the acquisition of Donovan McNabb), the Rams (Sam Bradford at No. 1 overall seems, um, "safer"), the Chiefs (Matt Cassel on the books) and the Lions (Matt Stafford) are clearly uninterested.

Raiders are looking better and better as a home for Big Ben.

Seriously?

faider fans are usually completely trashed.

The Chokeland Faiders were playing the Chiefs and was told to go f* myself becasue I was wearing a Titan Jersey .... at a chiefs game

On of my friends got his jacket torn off at a Browns game and they lit it on fire and threw it off the 3rd deck ....Raiders took the game by 25 easy ....

I have seen guys get into full blown fist fights on BART just getting to the game.

Seriously without trying to group you in they are getting worst.

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are in contact with the Steelers about a trade for Ben Roethlisberger.
La Canfora says Oakland "might be (the) only real option" for Pittsburgh if the Steelers are truly prepared to wash their hands of the 28-year-old QB. The Raiders, smartly (for once), appear to have realized that JaMarcus Russell is a bust, and very arguably the biggest in NFL history. The Steelers might ask for Nnamdi Asomugha in addition to Oakland's No. 8 overall pick.

Anyways back to the stinky shoes ....

Hate the squellers and all but the stuff seems to be mounting against him ....

Living in steel city seems to be a pretty heavy favoritism.

drop them in Seatle .... dude is serving 20

Chokeland Faiders...heh, I like that. As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree with you. I can't really think of a worse fanbase (as a whole) to be honest. Maybe the Eagles...but I've seen firsthand what Raiders "fans" do, and its embarrassing. The actions of a few make all of us look bad, and the "few" is pretty large.

Just makes me wish even more that the team is sold and then shipped off to LA. Of course there still will be a##hole Raiders fans out there, but the majority of them will stay in and around Oakland.

Our very own Joe Texan famously emerged unscathed from the dungeons of the legendary Black Hole. Those people have even invited him back this season.

Maybe if you and your friends weren't so Adams-ly obnoxious?

Steelers have called seven teams about Roethlisberger
4/21/2010 1:41:22 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have called the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns about a possible trade for QB Ben Roethlisberger. This according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

From what I know so far, the Rams have said no. I'm hoping one of the other teams besides the Raiders say yes!

I wonder if Ben will be required by the league to get any counseling? He seems to have some serious issues with women. If he's sexually assaulting women what will make him stop? Because he's not playing football for 6 weekends? I very much hope for his sake and any woman in contact with the guy that he gets some help.

It's been reported that is one of the mandatory "conditions" of the suspension.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for six games and must undergo “comprehensive behavioral counseling,” the N.F.L. announced on Wednesday after Commissioner Roger Goodell decided Roethlisberger had violated the league’s personal-conduct policy in relation to a sexual assault allegation against him.

Yep.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback also was ordered to undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation. Goodell will evaluate Roethlisberger's progress before the season and might consider reducing the suspension to four games.

Roethlisberger is barred from attending any Steelers offseason activity after Wednesday until he completes the evaluation. He can participate in training camp and preseason games this summer as long as he is cleared by the evaluators and Goodell.
