Lendale White Thread

If they release him or for a late rounder I would bring him in at least for camp because you never know what a change might do for any player.

I'd give a 6th or 7th rounder for him. I'd rather we draft a good RB on Friday night though. Thursday night I want a DB.

No higher than a 5th.

Friday night RB say Tate

White/ Tate/Slaton is not a bad trio.

It just depends on how much capital that Smithiak want to spend fixing the run game. The Tacks wont take a 5th for White from the Texans and have to face White twice a year.

I remember a thread on White being shopped a month or 2 back. Must not have been any good offers yet or not to many teams interested.

That whole thread was based on a hypothetical statement by ESPN Insider that the Tacks may not need White, considering Johnson's success........and the Texans could use an RB like White. There was never more presented than that.

Hard to tell how much the weight loss affected his ability as a short yardage back last season. It seems the Tacks rode the hot hand (and for good reason) which took away White's carries.

Gotcha. I know alot of the fans on this board dogged him out in that thread but I think he is a decent short yardage back.

While I'm at it Cloak, I really appreciate all the information medical and otherwise that you post over here at Texanstalk. You are one of the many reasons that this is the absolute best Texans bb. No contest.

Though as CNNND said, it was just a hypothetical, I wouldn't mind giving up a 6th or possibly a 5th for him. I think he would respond proactively to getting traded to a divisional rival for a late round pick (from 2nd rounder to 5th/6th, if that was me I'd be pissed) and would really want to prove a point and play with heat.

Why do you feel this way?

White is a good short yardage RB. If he was on the Texans last year they probably would've won 2/3 more games.

White's a punk, a Ron Dayne 2.0. I've never been a fan of trading draft picks and damn sure not a fan of just another fatass RB who fans think can get that extra yard. If we're going to spend a pick on a RB, do it in the draft. Younger, cheaper (likely) and eager to get to work.

BTW, on winning 2/3 more games with him:

Not on my watch

Signed,

Kris Brown

FWIW in 4 seasons in the league White has scored 24 touchdowns, that is more than any Texans RB has ever had in there Career.

White can find the endzone, that is proven fact. He did in college, he did it in the pros he could do it for us.

Well that is slighting Domanick Davis by more than a little. DD had 23 rushing TDs in 3 seasons plus another 5 through the air where White has none.

Not really, DD/DW was a good back but if you want a goal-line/short yardage runner it isn't close.

Well I disagree with that assessment and would say DD was better. He was great in small space (much better than White), great initial burst (much better than White) and solid body lean (with short thick legs) (give White some edge here) to almost always pick an extra yard or two to finish off runs. And he did that behind an O-line vastly inferior to the Titans'. IMO White just lives off his O-line. And the Titans realize that or they would have used him more last year and wouldn't be contemplating letting him go.

I believe that White will also be a good runner in our offense vs. the style that Tenn had plus he is most likely a better pass blocker.

I'm genuinely not interested in seeing Lendale White in a Texans uniform. I think we're better off with Arian Foster myself. I believe that if we add a RB in the first round like Mathews to Slaton, Foster, Moats, Johnson, and Henry then we have all the backs we need. If we wait and pick up somebody like Tate we still likely are set at RB.

Trading for Lendale White would be like Stacy Mack 2.0

He probably was still slow as hell even with the weight loss.

BTW you beat me by a minute @_@

You're saying he had a run-in with Pete Carroll possibly? That would be monumentally stupid if that's the case.

Perhaps a bit more insight (although not much) into the reasons.

Update at 1:41 p.m.: White will be released from Seattle. The reason for his release comes as the team decided that the level of commitment wasn't there.

Now, there are several reasons the decision is significant. This was a player Carroll had history with, having coached him at USC. This is also someone whose commitment was a question in his time at Tennessee.

When your old college coach cuts you before you've taken a snap for a team that just traded for you....yeah you're done.

What could the Seahawks have discovered in the month (? less?) that he's been with the team that they shouldn't have found out or known about prior to trading for him?

I think that maybe the flooding in Tenn. might have something to do with his commitment level.

Not making excuses for the guy, but it's got to be tough on him.

Did he get any sort of signing bonus money from the Seahawks? I wouldn't put it past a college coach to give a little "thank you" money to a player...

White was a restricted FA. So no signing bonus.

And to think some fans on our board wanted the Texans to trade for White. Yikes. I'm sure that Jeff Fisher and Mike Reinfeldt knew nothing about this impending suspension before trading LenWhale. Not.

only thing that i can think about when i'm reading this is the price is right loser theme...

Where are the "we need a big back" fans now?

Hell that guy lost 30 darn pounds in between his move from Nashville to Seattle. I wonder if he got popped for some kind of weight cutting substance that's banned (comedy option: Methamphetimines).

A funny line (at least to me) I read in ESPN's report...

White had lost more than 45 pounds last year, saying that when he stopped drinking tequila the pounds starting falling off. He was down to 220.

How much tequila could he really have been drinking? That's insane...

I think VY and LenWhale were doing some shots off this in the corner at that party...
