As we've mentioned once or twice, quarterback Tim Tebow's habit of openly expressing his religious beliefs could potentially rub folks the wrong way, especially in a locker room of grown men who choose to keep their beliefs to themselves, who don't share his beliefs at all, and/or who only want to hear "God bless" after they have sneezed.

We're told that Tebow already has gotten a taste of the resistance he might face at the next level.

At the Scouting Combine, the Wonderlic exam is administered to players in groups. The 12-minute test is preceded by some brief instructions and comments from the person administering the test.

Per a league source, after the person administering the test to Tebow's group had finished, Tebow made a request that the players bow their heads in prayer before taking the 50-question exam.

Said one of the other players in response: "Shut the **** up." Others players in the room then laughed.

We're not passing judgment on this one; we're just passing along what we've heard. And it illustrates the type of challenges that could be faced by the team that drafts Tebow.

That said, some teams might embrace those challenges. The final decision will depend largely on the composition of the team, and the personalities of the coach, the G.M., and the owner.
 
I heard this on 610 radio yesterday. I think he should not have requested a prayer. If he wanted to pray for himself cool or if others asked him to lead them in prayer. There seems to be no focus on the cursing of the other player who apparently did not have the guts to say "Tim, pray for you and allow us to do what we want." It is amazing that cursing is so readily accepted by people. It is such a "manly" thing to do I guess.
 
I know he means well, but people like him can be a pain in the neck. They're always trying to save everyone.
 
I hope the Texans take a good look at the player who told him to STFU... I'm interested in gruff players with cojones.

Tebow would fit in as Kurt Warner's protege. It's a bit late for that though.

Personally, I wouldn't have said STFU. But I would have thought it. And if someone else had said it, I would have laughed.

For me, it was absolutely the wrong time and place to suggest a prayer.

I agree, if Tim fits in well with his new teammates and he wants to lead a prayer for those who are interested, then thats great. But in this situation he was with a bunch of strangers. This is basically no different then randomly doing this while walking down the street one day.

Tim Tebow is a guy i'd find myself punching out there. He's a pushy preacher. Proven time and time again. Even during the Super Bowl.

Wow. With everything going on in the world on a daily basis you would chose to punch out the guy that wants to pray.
 
what super bowl?
if it werent for the uproar before the super bowl about the commercial, I seriously doubt one would know what it was about.

I don't give a rats ass if he wants to pray. That's not what it's about. It's about him crossing the line and being pushy about it. I do not like Tim Tebow for this reason alone. He'd be the guy I'd give a weekly wedgie topped off with a toilet swirl if we attended school together.

Kid's a heckuva footballer though.

Tim Tebow should look into playing another position or being the jack-of-some-trades type of player. Maybe play a bit of halfback, tight end, quarterback, and linebacker? :user:

Actually, the link said that there appeared to be conflicting accounts.

At this point, we don't know what really happened. And we probably never will.
 
I just want to say one thing.

To the fans and everybody in Gator Nation, I'm sorry, extremely sorry.

I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this.

You will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season, and you will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season, and you will never see a team play harder that we will the rest of the season.

Well makes a man wonder how players like Rodger Staubach and the Late Merlin Olsen for that matter ever got along in the league then, doesn't it ?

By posting it you just did pass judgment. What I don't understand is the intolerance from groups who profess as their manifesto, tolerance. What great sacrifice is required to bow your head for a couple of seconds ? The constitution reads "of", not "from". Wanna change that be my guest. Intolerance of Christians is just another form of bigotry. Any owner who passes the guy because of this deserves to pick in the top ten every year. I think it's funny how much the pendulum has swung the last forty years. What I can guarantee you for a fact atheist or not, every man who was in a higgens boat before they stormed Omaha beach or set foot on Iwo Jima prayed a little bit. Every one of them I've met has told me so.

Damned easy to be an atheist when the bullets aren't flying all the way live.
 
I would just like to say that it takes a great deal of cojones to even get up and say something like Tebow said. Being someone who witnesses quite a bit myself I see when there is an opportunity and those are usually the toughest times to say something.

That being said, Tebow should've at least brought it up as a suggestion for anyone who would like to join him to go somewhere to do it. I'm almost for sure that he would've had a better response that way, instead of asking that the class join in. This way, you are still providing the opportunity but you are leaving it up to the individual to make the choice (which is how it should be. Choosing Christ is a choice.)

I give him credit but there is most certainly a better way to go about it.
 
Well as an atheist I find it hard to comprehend why any would be offended... I never go out of my way to condemn those who don't hold the same things true that I do. Doesn't the constitution guarantee that right for all? I've bowed my head at many events, I've had people put me in their prayers when I was ill... so what? No harm to me has ever come from that, and I didn't feel the need to reprimand them for doing so.
My suspicion is, those who are offended don't know where they stand themselves, so they feel condemned by mere words. Once you reach the point where you are comfortable in your own skin, what others think, believe or feel becomes much less important :)

P.S. and shouldn't this debate take place somewhere outside draft info? LOL

I've never been to war but I've been in the middle of many gun fights. Each time, I did not think about g-d. I thought about me family. My family is my g-d. Each to their own.

Nobody said they were offended. Not a one. STFU tells me the person is annoyed. Annoyed does not mean offended the last time I checked.

I do not bow my head nor close my eyes in prayer. Ever. Not that I'm doing it out of defiance. I wouldn't know when to look up! I do respect others in their prayer and I'll hold hands and all.
 
Or i could be that they are just stressed the hell out and want to get the test over with.

Think any of these guys want to bomb the test and look like a dummy?

Wrong time to bring it up for Tebow. I don't think telling a guy to STFU is anti-Christian. I think if Tebow was a Muslim he would have been told the same thing.
