Andre Johnsons historical day (Article, PK)

Warrior
Andre Johnson’s big Sunday -- 11 catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns -- in the Texans’ 34-7 win over Seattle was few for a few of reasons.
According to ESPN Stats & Information

Johnson moved into a third-place tie on the all-time list of 10-reception, 100-yard games since the 1970 merger: Jerry Rice did it 15 times, Marvin Harrison 14 and Johnson and Tim Brown 13 times.

The NFL pointed out that his 10 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of the Texans’ 34-7 win over Seattle made him the first player to record at least 10 catches, 180 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of a game since Jacksonville’s Jimmy Smith on September 10, 2000 against Baltimore.
The Texans said Johnson’s 184 first-half receiving yards were the seventh-most in a first half since 1991.

He trailed Philadelphia’s Kevin Curtis (205 vs. Detroit, 9/23/07), Buffalo’s Lee Evans (205 vs. Houston, 11/19/06), Smith (194 vs. Baltimore, 9/10/00), St. Louis’s Isaac Bruce (193 vs. Atlanta, 11/2/07), Tennessee’s Drew Bennett (192 vs. Kansas City, 12/13/04) and Atlanta’s Roddy White (185 vs. San Francisco, 10/11/09).

To think, Brandon Marshall had 10 catches more Sunday against the Colts than Johnson had against the Seahawks.

And he threw his first TD ball right into the empty seats next to us. My wife, seeing grown men dive for it, did a double step and backed off. Slacker.

But the guy who ended up with it has been at every game. Had the empty seats not been empty, it would have been d-bags who aren't much of fans at all.

Brandon Marshall has a ways to go to be up to par with Andre Johnson, attitude wise and playing on the field. If I remember right, Brandon Marshall was being a diva/crybaby before the season started and was swatting balls away in practice. Andre just goes out and plays his heart out, and lets his playing do all the talk.

Just imagine what AJ's numbers would've looked like had we not blown out the Seahawks...

What's the record for most receiving yards in a single game?

Flipper Anderson with 336 in 1989.

AJ was projecting something like 368 at the half.

Yeh that was BS.

The only thing I have to say to him and Marshall is that Andre doesn't literally cry on the field like Brandon marshall did, he just makes the secondary cry!!!!

And looking at his stats, you would think Marshall had HWSNBN tossing the rock to him... 21 for 200. 9.52ypc

Johnson...11 for 193...17.55ypc

He's only 2 games away from the 10/100 record? He should blow that one out of the water by the end of his career. Good grief.

That being said, I recorded the game and rewatched it last night. Lindsay was on the TV right after a commercial for a good five seconds. You were nowhere to be seen but I knew you were sitting next to her. She was cheering with another fan who looked familiar but don't know who it was. They just had the camera panned completely onto her face.

Which is even more amazing when you consider that he had a QB who couldn't even throw him the ball for the first half of his career.

I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks that record before the end of the season.

There's a reason for that. Have you SEEN Ryan's face?
