Steve Slaton Showed Good Signs

He ran well and he did not fumble. I still think with better O line he is the franchise RB. That showed in the first half of the game today. Get the O line up to speed by next season and Stevie will make a D pay. Hopefully that benching was a wake call for him and he won't fumble nearly as much anymore. Knock on wood. He knows to hit the hole when he sees one. Also, he is a playmaker out of the backfield with his smooth hands. With a good O line he should really hit his stride he has all the tools and skills and juat had to get over his fubling problem and now he looks to have done just that. I'm impressed with what I saw from him today. He just looked refocussed out there with a new mind set. Stevie is not only a large part of the running game but when he is in the slot for a screen pass he is also a beast in that regard. Let's dump Chris Brown this up and coming offseason and draft a true power back to share the load and get the O line back healthy once again because I don't know about you but when they call Brown a power running back I get my fill of laughter for the whole entire day. Anyway, what are your thoughts on how Steve played today and how should be used going on?

As long as he keeps covering the ball at the end of runs, he'll be fine. Most of his fumbles were inexcusable, and he knows it. It's good to see him covering up when the contact comes.

I wish they'd just fed him the ball more in the second half. I thought he was really starting to feel it and then they'd pull him for Brown, who had a good day which I don't want to take away from. The simple truth is though that the Texans aren't going to ride Chris Brown to victory. At this point I think they should just feed Slaton the ball, accept the good with the bad, and hope he catches fire. He's the only legitimate threat we have back there I believe.

Typical Kubiak epic fail trying to change things up...

Slaton should be used for the reason he was drafted. A fast change of pace to a pounding power back. He should get around 15-18 attempts and another 5 or so as a receiver. Did you get to see Stanford beat Notre Dame Saturday? RB Toby Gerhart had 205 yards on 29 attempts and many through the heart of the defense. He had one catch for 33 yards. I am still leaning towards Jonathan Dwyer in first but if I knew Gerhart would be there in 2nd, he'd be my guy.
