who cares if they stay or go or whom the real fans are or the bandwagon fans are. Seriously, this is NOT about us. It is about the team and right now they are irrelevant. FACT. I don't see that changing next year either. I hope I'm wrong but geez Louise calm down now. It is heartbreaking being a fan of this team. I myself am not going anywhere, but I fully understand those who express there frustrations by quitting the team.

Almost glad we lost huh? get over yourself. We don't even have a friggin' bandwagon to jump on. People don't bandwagon mediocre teams. If you can't take someone else's opinion try staying away from the internets...I hear there are opinions all over the place. Even some guys who try to tell everyone else how to be a good fan.
Lol, of course. Its much better to have a losing team so we know who the true fans are than a good team with a bunch of bandwagoners.
are you serious? I'd rather 99% of the texans fans be bandwagon fans and have us win than suffer through this crap over and over again with "real fans"

I think he was simply mocking this "fail" of a thread. What the hell do you expect people to do when the Texans lose another close one to the division rival especially when all of these VY fan boys are all over Reliant stadium rooting for him over our own team? Fans aren't happy with a 5-5 team, so they ***** about it. What's so hard to understand about that? This is a message board where differing opinions will change like the weather with a lot of different types of fans who are passionate about the sport and the Houston Texans. I think you're in the wrong place if you're expecting everyone to see things the way that you do.

My wife almost came to blows in the Bullpen with a few 'negative' fans.
The stadium would not be sold out without fair weather fans. And without a sold out stadium, the team loses money. And we all know what happens when a team starts losing money...

I've had to revert to just bieng happy to have an NFL Franchise to get thru the year. I still have faith the team is getting better, although many may disagree. It's going to be tough to have to wait another 10 months to be truly pumped again. Well I guess there's always the draft!!!!!
It is thanksging after all so let's be thankful for:
A. We have a team again.
B. The team is not owned by Satan, AKA Bud Adams.
C. We have a real shot at a "Winning Season".
D. We're not the Cleveland Browns.
E. We're not the Detroit Lions.
F. We drafted AJ instead of Charles Rogers. (Even if we are in danger of losing him regardless of what he says, although I take him at his word.)
As painful as the last three weeks have been having our bubbles burst, there are still a lot of things to be thankful for.
It is thanksging after all so let's be thankful for:
A. We have a team again.

I assume there are a lot of Houston Oilers fans here who went through tough times back in old days. Way back in the 70's I became Houston Oilers fan and back then, they weren't winning many games. Still, I'd follow the Oilers and hoping to see beating the Steelers whenever Oilers played. As you can tell by this, I'd spent my younger days in Houston and I call Houston my second home. When the Oilers left to Tenn, my memory went with them. Because, they are not Houston Oilers any longer.

It is OK to be frustrated IMO. But whenever we L, fire this or that or off bandwagon is just silly to me.
Yes, it would be nice to have a winning football team and I am almost certain that we will have a super bowl team in near future........ All I want to say is no matter what happens W or L, I am sticking with Houston.

Very true. I grew up in Michigan and I saw how twenty years of bad management lead to 0-16. Trust me, last year's Lion's record took years and years to build up to.
Know what was the culprit behind the Lion's horribleness? The fans. No joke. The fans accepted horrible management, and the management didn't care, so they didn't change anything. Year after year.
It's why, when it comes to the Texans, I'm very protective. I'm not a fan of "moral" victories. Accepting moral victories gets us to 0-16. Trust me.

Well, in this case, I have the proof to back it up. I saw, growing up, what led to 0-16, and it was the "aw, shuks, we'll get them next time" attitude. We cannot accept 8-8 as being good enough.
So how do the fans change or influence anything if they are not going to accept a mediocre product? Call talk shows, write on message boards, picket the stadium?
Seriously, what power do we have to change a dern thing if we are sick and tired of mediocrity? I just ask because the only real power the fans have is as consumers, but when fans exercise that option, they get looked as as "bandwagon fans" because they are not financially supporting the team.
I'm just curious what Lions fans could have done to prevent anything.

Yes, Lions fans simply could have stopped buying tickets. And should have.
I am a Texans season ticket holder, and when Bob McNair sends me the letter in January telling me about yet another likely price increase, I may have to reconsider my options if the teams goes 8-8.
This year, McNair raised ticket prices. In the middle of a recession. Bad move. And people noticed. McNair has to tread very carefully this year. If the team goes 10-6 or 11-7, we are more likely to accept a price increase. 9-7 is iffy. 8-8 would cause mass cancellations.
Speaking of cancellations, I've noticed new people in almost every game in my section. Only one other couple still there from a few years ago. I"m guessing that a lot of ticket holders in my section cancelled, and the tickets are frequently sold on stub hub. And, my section is a good one.
And, when I log onto my Texans account, there's an area where people can go and buy and sell PSL's. You can look at what seats and PSL's are on the market, and who is trying to get rid of their seats. There are a TON.
I'm not saying that the Texans are broke. They are far from it. But they have to be careful about what they're providing consumers. Especially in this economy.
And, sometimes, it's not always about the economy. Look at New Orleans. That city is DIRT POOR. They have no major companies. People there are broke. And yet, the Superdome is totally sold out. Broke people will find a way to afford something if the product is worth it.
And, a big value for teams is in television rights. The Texans lost Beaumont and Austin. They got Austin back (for now, we'll see how long that lasts now that Vince is back). I read a story in the Houston Business Journal where Jamey Rootes, the Texans VP, said that they're really trying hard to get into the Waco tv markets and other markets in Houston. He then went on to say that, point blank, the only way to do so is via winning.
Winning = $$$
And, let's not forget that there is another NFL team in Texas. A team with a deep, long history and fanbase. McNair has to battle against them for tv market rights and fans. San Antonio, for example, is all about The Cowboys. McNair needs to convert them to Texans fans. How? Winning.
I'm rambling a bit, but my point is, Owners can no longer sit by collect money with no thought to what they provide consumers. It doesn't work that way.

Our team is making progress, though certainly at a much slower rate than what we want. But you're clearly the bandwagon guy. I'm guessing you'll just wait to see who wins the SB this year, then you're going to hop on that bandwagon. You'd make a horrible spouse or best-friend for anybody IMO.

thanks, i do live in utah, been here for 3 years. i was a season ticket holder before that. i was an oilers fan from the late 70's till they left. not sure i'm a bandwagon fan. not even really sure you read my post's. i was gripping at all the people who were leaving because we lost. like some have already stated i should of just left it alone but i was in a bad mood after i read about 4 post's in a row about people giving up on or team. i think the title mislead you.
