[Battle Red Blog] Beware of VY Fan boys

My feelings on VY have gone full circle

First I hated him

Then I felt sorry for him

Now I hate him even more than before

Not only do I hope we annihilate the Titans but I hope he has his worst game ever and comes out in pain.

It comes down to this:

Some people are idol worshippers and some people are sports fans of their favorite team(s).

Frak, Hookem and some others are in the latter. Unfortunately, they're also in the minority when it comes to these UT/VY yahoos.

Hey, over here :cow:

Why are Longhorns such brain-dead m0r0ns when it comes to VY and ex-Longhorns? Can an alumnus help me out here?

Man ... I remember how bad it was in the 1970 draft when the UT mob wanted the Oilers to draft James Street .

what I find it comparable is two players
HWDNM
comp 59%..6.4 yd avg per pass 160 yards per game ; td ratio 2.9% int 3.1%

and VY
comp 58%..6.5 yd avg per pass 144 yards per game td ratio 2.9% int 4.0%

what Vince has going for him, is that he is dangerous on 3rd down, if the defense lets a lane open up, vince can pick up that first and extend the drive.

as far as the discussions go.. I think we could exchange names in the old threads about a certain QB . I think I have used every argument for HWDNM ...now I seem to notice the same spin for VY

I'm not an ex, but I liken it to Napoleanic Syndrome. Austin is irrelevant in professional sports, so when "one of theirs" does well for UT the "exes" idolize said "one of theirs" and puff their collective chests...

:user:

But then again I don't see the same love for some of the other great players that have contributed to them being a perenial BCS contender i.e.: Limas Sweed, Cedric Benson, David Thomas, Nathan Vasher, Michael Griffin, etc, etc., etc...

So, at the end of the day, I got nothing.

I think what VY figured out is to run up the field and not across the field .

If we're putting the Titans in 3rd down situations were doing our job. I'll take that. Its them running through our defense on 1st and 2nd down and never seeing 3rds is what I'm worried about.

Good point... I lived in Austin my freshman year of college and I noticed that the locals there are very bandwagon when it comes to pro sports. Tons of Spurs/Astros/Cowboys fans there. Or just whatever bandwagon is trendy at the moment. It was VY's rookie year there so there were tons of "oh I'm a Titans fan because of VY" people. Needless to say I moved away from Austin as quickly as I got there.

from your blog, freaking hillarious

so why did you leave the Jacksonville games out of your math?

Schaub @Jac
8.6 YPA, 3TD, 1INT

VY Jac
6.9 YPA, 1TD, 0INT"

by Texans-Brocos

I should have included it. I was looking on NFL.com and the first 3 games that popped up for each player included two common opponents, so I used those. Lump it all together and it doesn’t change the basic information all that much, though.

Based on my study of Nazi progress in the year 1941, it is obvious that Hitler will win the war.

HAHAHAHA!!!Awesome. Beautiful!
by bigfatdrunk

What? Didn't he win?
by TexansForever

Well, yeah, he did.Only if you cherry pick the Battle of France. You have to ignore the rest of the data, though.

by bigfatdrunk

LOL F'ing awesome!
by Mike Kerns

Hmmm..well, sounds good. Let's do that.

What's the DVOA adjustment for rolling over France? Come on now.
by riversmccown

How do you adjust for the Maginot Line?
by bigfatdrunk o

Maginot Line Automatically rec’d.
by Tim

Pretty sure the Germans ground attack was the best in the league at the time.
by tehGrindCrusher

Well, duh...VY was their general. He deserves alllllll the credit.
by bigfatdrunk

The French Defensive Line was HORRIBAD at the time...Also they brought in some Free Agent D-Backs from England to help but the Germans ran all over them as well in the Dunkirk Bowl.
by TexansForever

I knew they shouldn't have signed Anthony Weaver

God these two weeks of our schedule make the other MB IQ drop by 50% when those VYFB's come there. Some tack fans are logical football talking people with a lil' of fun trash but the others geez makes you want to stay off.
:foottap:

Glad you guys are enjoying it. Up to about 550 comments now. Most of the VY Trolls have moved on, but will probably be back tomorrow.

Man, I wish I could. My daughter lives here with my ex and, even though Houston is close, it's not close enough. I'd rather be 20 minutes away vs 200 miles away from my kid.

Since I'm not a college sports fan and went to UH when I was in college, I have no true ties to Austin/UT sports and am so beyond tired of it. I wish I had XM so I could listen to 610 or something out of Houston in my truck. Listening to E. Hogan then Ketch and Hastings on the afternoons on the local ESPN radio affiliate here gets old. It's all UT/Cowboys all the time with some Texans (just to poke at them usually) if time permits on the show. So lame.

I feel for ya man. Atleast they're talking sports now on the local ESPN radio, when I listened to it when I was there it was mostly talk about celebrity boob jobs and Matthew McConaughey followed by several unfunny jokes.

I wish I could explain it, but I can't. Then again, I'm an alum who couldn't give two shi its about the Longhorn football team. College football is inferior to the NFL and will always be.

I pray the Texans facestomp the Titans and drive VY to another mini-meltdown that forces the team to kiss him goodbye during the offseason.

Erin Hogan used to be the only Texans fan on the radio over there. Did he jump ship?

I don't. Then all the fan boys would be saying how we have to sign him and how we will regret it if we don't and he wins two or three Super Bowls somewhere else. Admit it, you know they would say it.

My dream scenario is a little different. I want him to have such a bad start against us that he gets benched and goes into full-blown depression mode on the sideline. Then Collins can get a minor injury and VY refuses to go back in. :pop:

I really hate to toot my own horn here, but I wrote a new piece about you know who on Battle Red Blog and in the comments section a war has broke out. Some funny, funny stuff in there to help pass the time until the game on Monday, if you're interested.

Frak said:
Let’s be honest: When you can’t beat out Kerry Collins for the starting job, you may be a little overrated. And he still wouldn't be playing if Titans owner Bud Adams hadn't forced Jeff Fisher's hand. VY fan boys love to throw out the phrase "All Vince Young does is win!" That is complete garbage. If the defense has five sacks, two interceptions and a return for a touchdown, it has nothing to do with Vince. Yet, they seem to claim he "wills" them to victory. It is quite ridiculous.
Then there are the ones who call into local sports radio and say Vince is better than Matt Schaub. Again, a complete joke. I mean, reading some of the stuff said on blogs and message boards is downright laughable. There are even guys who claim VY is better than Schaub because he is better looking. No kidding. And then they wonder why I accuse them of having an unhealthy crush on VY. Please...Matt Schaub is being mentioned with guys like Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Carson Palmer now. And you’re comparing "125 yards passing" Vince Young to him?

Most of his passing yards have came via HWSNBN playbook. Dinks and dunks.

Good write up Frak.

I can roll with this! haha

LOL. Believe me, they still take plenty of time in the afternoons to talk McConaughey and his new movies like "Surfer......Dude!" and "Skater bro 4" and of course the soon to be box office smashes "I'm a total stoner douche bro." Parts 1 and 2 as well as celebrity boob jobs and who's a Puma/Cougar and who a Dragon (dragon apparently being for super old cougar).

Actually, I think they are trying to set up an interview on the 4-7 show with Geoff and Chad with McConaughey. So, yes, they still love on him when they can.

He's a total bandwagoner at this point. He is on board when we win and is first to jump when we lose. That's if he takes enough time to NOT talk about the "game" between UT vs. Saint Mary and the Blind Parapalegic U game and how awesome the longhorns looked putting up 900 points but how they are flawed because they gave up a safety on Colt when Colt was sipping tea in the pocket and did not notice that there was pressure on him so NOW UT is in real danger of possibly losing to A&M.

Of course their is always the Cowboys jocks to swing on and massage after a loss too and sing the praises of Romo at QB.

He is still pretty solid behind the Rockets and Astros, but is shaky as hell on the Texans. Even if the Texans win big, and the cowpatties lose and UT has a normal score (below 50) win over an opponent...Texans are still way down the list to talk about.

Needless to say, as soon as I get into work I fire up 610 on the internet and listen to Van Dermeer (spelling?) and Lopez.

I am more than willing to watch Vince attempt a run if it means he gets to meet Cushing and Pollard up close and personal.

As ya'll know I've been a VY supporter and still will be until the end. I hate the Titans and Cowboys but I am a fan of VY. I've been through this year after year and if the Texans actually drafted VY that year, we would be better off. He's a leader, I know the statistics and **** don't show but he wins games and that's all a NFL team needs. I root for the Texans when we play them because that's my team, I am not one of these dumbasses that root for the Texans all year but when we play the Titans it' a different story, no that's not me.

Your Napoleonic analogy is completely irrelevant as Austin has not clamored for a professional sports team. Our cousins in the suburbs feel that need given their Baseball and Hockey minor league teams. As far as as VY is concerned you have a city (Houston) and college (UT) that were void of Championship football for decades, VY brought the hardware.

In closing there is no need to go after Austin or UT, we are quite alright in our drive for Championships within the collegiate ranks, in your VY fanboy rants.

No, he has not.Hogan is still a Texans fan.

In the 5 o'clock hour, the afternoon guys (who suck) will have on Lance Z, Harris, Justice or someone speaking about the Texans.
