Good game this past weekend, though I imagine an incredibly frustrating one to have lost. I was very nervous at halftime since I couldn't imagine how we could have dominated you more in the first half, yet the most we could manage was a 13 point margin. Your defense did a fantastic job keeping you in the game until your offense could get untracked. I really wanted the Colts to go for it more on 4th down, but coach Caldwell doesn't like that gamble. I wasn't surprised at all when you came storming back.

Thought I'd post a link of Colts GM Bill Polian's comments on the Texans. He was very complimentary:

http://http://www.examiner.com/x-4450-Indianapolis-Colts-Examiner~y2009m11d9-Indianapolis-Colts-CB-Jerraud-Powers-should-be-Rookie-of-the-Year-President-Bill-Polian-says

* The Texans: “To paraphrase Denny Green – or I guess it's not a paraphrase – 'They are what we thought they were,' a darned good football team. They are a darned good football team. In many ways, if you matched them against us they are as good or better than us in a lot of areas. They have talent. They go eight deep on the defensive line. They have an outstanding linebacker group – outstanding. They have a really good offensive line. They have two running backs who fit their style perfectly. They have along with [Colts wide receiver] Reggie Wayne and [New England wide receiver Randy] Moss probably one of the Top 3 do-it-all receivers in the AFC [wide receiver Andre Johnson]. [Patriots wide receiver Wes] Welker is outstanding as well. When you have that kind of talent, and unfortunately they lost their tight end, Owen Daniels, who's a big part of their offense, but when you have that kind of talent on both sides of the ball – including along with Dwight Freeney the best pass rusher in the AFC [Mario Williams] – you're in high cotton. They are. They're a very, very good team."

Its good to respect from other teams, all i really want in this world though is for the texans to make it to the playoffs, just so the world can see how great (and fun to watch) are team is.

Thanks for kind words........we will meet again.

Thanks for your kind words, and welcome to the board!

The Colts are currently the class of the AFC. Of course, their 8-0 record speaks for itself. How can anyone argue with that? And Payton Manning might just be the single best and most valuable player in the league.

It appears the best test for determining when the Texans have "arrived" will be when they can consistently play with and regularly win games against the Indianapolis Colts. Unfortunately, the Texans appear to have more work to do yet before they can confidently claim to have achieved that lofty perch. Damn you guys are good.

I appreciate most of Bill Pullians remarks, but the Texans are still not set at running back. The Texans have three serviceable RBs, but none who is really a go-to guy. In fact, the Texans have never in their history had a reliable, trustworthy, talented, workhorse RB that could shoulder the load week-in and week-out, year-in and year-out. And they still don't. But the guys they have now are not altogether bad in lieu of that I guess.

We will look forward to seeing you guys down here in Houston in less than three weeks. Hopefully at that time, we can even the score.

Once again, welcome to the board.

The Texans have drafted so well over the last 4 years, that we can
honestly say they are about 2 or 3 players away from becoming a
Juggernaut. That's a Center, Stud Running Back, and Defensive
Tackle away from domination.

Our offense can put up points, but we struggle at moving down the
field at 10-yard increments. The Colts are excellent at both, not because
of a running game, but because Peyton Manning is an offensive coordinator
who breaks the defense down before the snap. Us mortal teams have
to be more conventional, and develop a consistent running attack.

I'm not too upset about the game. I'm frustrated, because despite all
the adversity, we still had a chance to steal that game from the Colts. I
hope our owner doesn't listen to the schizo bandwagoners and blow
this team up, when we are SO FREAKING CLOSE!

Welcome to the board, Colt fan.

I only hate the Colts because they're in our Division and own us. Always seem to have both talented and classy players, coaches, and fans.

Working?
I hate the Colts with a passion. I was glad when Indy won the superbowl, but now Im ready for them to fall from grace. Id love to see them go 0-16. I seriously can't stand them anymore. They've had their glory, now go away.

They are so ****ing slippery its ridiculous. No matter how close to winning you are, they always find a way to slither out. Their whole team is weasel-like.

I can't count the number of times I've heard this kind of praise regarding the talent on our defensive line.

I'm still wondering when the results will reflect it.

Maybe we should take up a collection and give the officiating crew a steamer trunk full of money to ignore horse-collar penalties, roughing the passer and helmet to helmet calls unless they favor us...seems to work for Indy.

Focus on what you can control. It seems illogical to complain about three missed calls when there were thirteen penalties enforced against your team that you had control over. Get rid of those and you deny us over one hundred yards of field position. You're going to win some and lose some; you just have to get used to it. I remember games where it seemed like Freeney was being held on every play, yet he never got a call. In fact, I don't know that he's drawn a holding call this year, which is absurd. I can recall at least one instance Sunday where he was getting to Schaub but the lineman had his arm around his neck and was holding him back, yet nothing was called. It cuts both ways.

You wouldn't know man. You've been getting calls forever. Even if they did call a holding in your favor it would be made up by the other penalties they call for the other team. If they are going to call 13 penalties then how come they didn't get the other ones right? And someone please answer me why #98 for the Colts was being ADVISED and WARNED to move back out of the nutreal zone and Connor Barwin was not. I know. An 8-0 Manning brings more viewers to that MNF game against New England than does a 6-3 Texans team on the bye next week.

I'm going to have to let this one go. It sounds too much like the Obama-is- not-really-an-American-citizen conspiracy theory, and I never know what to say to that.

Seems to me a Colts fan just wanted to come on the board in a friendly manner and compliment us on our team, and let us know Polian's quote. I think it is pretty classy of him to do so.

The Colts are an organization we should want to be like. They do things the right way, their organization is top-notch, and their coaching staff and players know what they're doing. Don't lash out against him because he supports a winning franchise.

The Colts have had a bitter past with New England and Jacksonville, but the Houston rivalry has always been friendly, at least in my opinion. Of course, it's easy to enjoy a rivalry when you dominate the opposition, but Houston has dramatically closed the gap very quickly, so perhaps the friendliness will evaporate shortly if the Colts lose a few of the next meetings.

Houston's frequent failures in years past have made it difficult to pay much attention to them, but you can believe that we take them seriously now. You matched up to us very well and other than the lack of discipline as far as penalties were concerned and failing to have a future hall-of-famer at quarterback, the teams looked very even. I think now we have an actual rivalry.

I'll grant that most of the calls were legit, the two glaring exclusions being the Barwin offsides flag and the cushing Pass-interference call...no mater how many times I've replayed it, those two seem to come out of thin air. But...10 penalties still is far too much when on the road. The Texans didn't appear to have worked on silent snapcount and dealing with road crowd noise recently.

I'm still unsure as to whether I chalk this one up to the Colts WON it, or the Texans LOST it. It was certainly there for the taking and we failed to close the deal.

Ever since that AFC playoff game against Pittsburgh, I have not had another reason to think other wise. It was very appearant the NFL wanted Indy in there. I hate Pittsburgh too. Then when the Super Bowl was played and I saw all those calls going for Pittsburgh and Seattle getting it stuck to them, that drove the point home even more.

Until proven otherwise......

Yeah, it doesn't need to be mentioned again now, but this is true... There was definitely some funny business by the refs in both those games, but it wasn't shocking nor was I surprised. I've seen the same thing happen for the Pats as well against other teams too.

I agree with you, Dan.

As many times as I have reviewed it, I can't see the calls that the officials made on those plays and I have never seen a defensive offsides call thrown after the play was whistled dead. The defense really started going for the knockout punch when they saw what the refs were calling and not calling which led to a few personal foul calls. Still, the best teams find a way to overcome the refs.

I can't wait to have to re-match in Reliant.

Welcome Swatson_Coltfan. It is good to see you here.

With Rick Smith as the GM, we know that every year the Texans will take at least one DB. But Quinn has played well enough that it's not as big a deal as it was. Not to say we have a shut down CB but the DB's are playing well enough to help the team win. Not to help them lose like they had been the past few years.
the needs on the Defense is DT, FS, CB

Yes! We will take a DT in the first round every year until we have pro-bowlers at every position! :brickwall:

OK, so I'm half kidding, but...

Same thing happened last year.

Same thing happened against Arizona.

Same thing happened against the Jags.

I believe that's the last thing stopping the Texans from being what we want them to be. Learning how to win. From the Coaches to the players.... to the fans ( how many times have you heard the fans getting Rowdy when our offense is trying to pick up a 4th down?)

I'm not mad at the Colts. I understand this rivalry is one sided.... kinda big brother/little bro thing.

Quinn was awesome Sunday. I've watched the game 3 times now.. he's going to be an all-pro.

To me, he stood out the way Cush has stood out the previous 3 weeks. Kids a stud.

The reason I didn't mention the DB's as a NEED position is because:
SS = Bernard Pollard > C.C. Brown
FS = Eugene Wilson > Will Demps
CB = Glover Quin + Brice Mccain + Jacques Reeves > Petey Faggins + Fred B.

Secondary's fine. The weak link of the defense is Nose Tackle. Our
Up Tackles (Amobi, Antonio, Cody) are fine.

Since we haven't had good experience in drafting NT, is there any good NT available from 2010 FA? I wouldn't mind us drafting FS, RB and OL in 2010. For NT, we need experienced palyer to have an impact in 2010 season IMO.

Go Texans!!!

My god who else is loving seeing CC Brown in a Giants Uniform??? The guy clearly is not an average football player. And to think that he was talking sh*t about the Texans when he signed over there.

No joke. It says alot about what we used to have as a safety back there and why we would get burned so bad.
