Look man, you have some really good things to say, and I certainly wouldn't want you to leave the board. Perhaps I am off, but I certainly don't think you are a dumb ass. If you were, I doubt you would have any rep at all, and you really wouldn't have anything to add. Take this for what its worth, but I just think you are lazy in a world filled with kids that would rather learn text messaging lingo instead of the English language. That doesn't make you bad or a dumb ass; it simply means your focus is in the wrong place. Your peers probably have no trouble understanding you.

So take all of this as nothing more than constructive criticism. You need to practice on the spelling and sentence structure. It will most assuredly help you later on in life so why not just look at your time here as a chance to share some good thoughts but to also practice your writing.

Turn this into a learning experience. Seriously, what browser do you use? Get one such as Firefox that will automatically spell check. Type your thoughts and if something is spelled wrong it will underline it in red. Then you right click on the word and it will give you a list of correctly spelled words you might have meant. Do that and pay attention to the corrections. Turn your passion for football into a learning experience. It will help you in school as well. And pay some attention to rules you certainly know like capitalizing the first word in sentences. No it isn't substantive but it gives an entirely different overall feel and impression. Not doing it looks lazy. Good luck.

Do you want to be someone who is trustworthy and reliable? Or do you want to be someone who quickly alters course towards the easier way whenever you encounter something boring or difficult? Being trustworthy and reliable means you can be trusted and relied upon to finish what you start, and to do whatever you are doing as well as you reasonably can.

At your age, your posts do not communicate to me that you are dumb. What they communicate to me is that you are sloppy. Sloppiness is a trait that you can change, unlike your innate intelligence. CloakNNNdagger is right. You need to take your time and edit your posts. Make each one as perfect as you possibly can before you post it, including spelling, grammar and the content of your message.

Also, get a dictionary if you do not have one and look up words whenever you encounter one that you do not know how to spell, or that you do not know the meaning of. This will help you to build your vocabulary. If you do this for the next few years, you will be really surprised at how much smarter you get with regards to words and language.

I am telling you the truth when I say that practice makes perfect. If you do this with every post, and every other thing that you write, including papers for school, your writing will start to improve pretty quickly.

Like I said earlier, your posts communicate to me that you are sloppy, not that you are dumb. But sloppiness is not a behavior that only demonstrates itself through writing. You can be sloppy in the conduct of a great many activities. I would be surprised to discover that you are only sloppy with regards to your writing, and that you are not also sloppy in the way you handle other things.

If you do not take steps to rectify this, you will bring great difficulty on yourself in the years to come. Great difficulty, and also unnecessary difficulty. I have two pieces of advice for you that everyone should strive to follow:

1. Pay attention to what you are doing.
2. Take responsibility for your actions.

Your shortcomings in these two areas are the primary source of your difficulties with poor writing specifically, and sloppiness generally. You have it within our power to improve in these areas. For you to be successful as an adult, it will be essential that you do so.

The moral of this story is.... always try to be a better person, but only the person YOU want to be. Don't let some of the balloon heads on here bring you down. There are some great guys to listen to, though. InfantryCak, Vinny and Double Barrel just to name a few. Slaton - dumb you ain't and that is a fact. Once deciphered, anyone can tell that your thinking processes are very good. You need to tell yourself that at least 3 times a day while improving your communication skills which is very possible - it just takes a little effort on your part.

15 isn't fun - but it does get better and better. Trust us old folks.

I would just suggest to be careful when making your rep public because whomever repped you may not want his/her rep to you shared with others. I could be wrong about that however I know I have received rep from others that I took as a private thing between the repper and myself.

Slaton, best thing I can say is, don't be so hard on yourself, I think most of us enjoy having a Texan fans posting on here.

I know I am going to sound like a parent here but..

then the good news is that you can do something about it.It is correctable. you have three years until you are graduating high school . I don't know what your plans are , but a good idea would be to get with your english teacher and see if he/she can help you with your spelling. Ask your parents for help on it.. one way to start is go through your threads and look at your posts , click on quote and look at all the red lines that show up on the posts.. also some of your words are words but they are just spelled wrong (know and no ). When I was in school, our teacher would give us a list of words and we had to 1) right the definition down of the word, 2) write the word 5 times and 3) write the word using a sentence

sure it is hard work, but you can do it(and not on a computer, just plain ole pen and paper) .. again I don't know what your plans are for after high school(not sure if you have even thought about it) , but if you have plans to go to college, you will will be writing some papers or at your job after high school, you will be writing things from time to time.. It is VERY correctable

If you decide you want to fix your spelling and grammer, now is the time to think about it, you have resources at your fingertips with teachers

I've only gotten negged twice. My favorite was the guy who neg repped this, for "double standards." (In his half-defense, I didn't quote the post I was satirizing, although it was quoted in the post right next to mine). It was intended as sarcasm, which tends to somehow fly wayyyyy over some people's heads.

I'm pretty sure I've only neg repped one person, some douche that called Marines stupid for absolutely no reason in one of the game day threads a few weeks ago.

I really don't give out negative rep, in fact, I don't think I ever have. Maybe I should when well deserved, but just haven't.

And I have only received it once, but I think the person giving had a legitimate reason for it, so it is completely fine by me. Even if I wasn't justified, I wouldn't care. My reputation here is not all that crucial.


siab(slatonis... I am going to refer to you as this to make it shorter from now on), don't let neg rep get you down. On a messageboard it is meaningless. It's how you are perceived in the real world that should matter most.

I was 15 once, I think. Long time ago on a planet far far away or at least I felt I was on a different planet than others. Spelling was nowhere on my list of things I disliked about myself because the list was too long for "silly" things. Slatonisabeast, you got some real good info from people out in the world who care enough about you to give you some suggestions. Hope you follow through. You are a young man heading into being an adult. It is not an easy process, but how you handle the experiences determine how you end up. There is nothing wrong with self evaluation and I do a very serious one on my birthday and also at Christmas to make sure I am focused and not getting caught in any traps. Just remember to have some fun along the way. Peace, out.

The only problem with this is that he is 15!

He is in high school, this is not a 9 year old kid.

I am a sophmore in College now but that was not long ago and I can promise you that he would not pass a single class the way he is spelling in high school(I went to a public high school in Houston as well).

I think either:
A. This whole thing is a joke from someone that has gone on way to long
B. He actually is a 15 year old that can't spell and starts insane threads for no reason who needs a lot of help from his parents,school,friends,etc. to function in society. It is more than his spelling that needs work.

Sorry if this comes off harsh but I feel it needs to be said, when he first came I was one of those people who possitive repped him and told him to not listen to what others say and keep posting.

I just have a wierd feeling about this.
