Cushing up for Pepsi ROW

http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=rookies

Is it just me, or do all the other rookie descriptions have a lot more detail than Cushings? His 2 FF and INT basically won us the game.

Cushing recorded nine tackles, one interception and two forced fumbles in the Texans' 28-17 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Matthews recorded two sacks, three tackles for loss and one pass defensed in his first NFL start, a 26-0 win for the Packers over the Detroit Lions.

Byrd made three tackles and had two interceptions, including a third-quarter pick that led to Buffalo's tying TD in the Bills' 16-13 overtime win against the New York Jets

Succop led the Chiefs to their first win of the season, making all four of his field goal attempts, including a pair of tough 46-yarders in a 14-6 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Nicks recorded five receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 48-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Why don't they mention Cushing's passes defended? I think he had two. They mention another players' passes defended so it's not like it's a stat they don't include.

I think they just added that stat to Matthews so his stats don't look so weak compared to the other Rookies listed.

But that said it should be included in Cushings as well.

Cushing should win, especially since we beat a good opponent. It will be interesting to see if he actually does win however.

It's a joke that the kicker was even included. I mean, come on. If you want to give the kicker an award, make it a kickers-only award.

Why? That guy is a rookie nad he accounted for all of their points.

People make short work of a kicker, but a consistent kicker is key to a successful team in the NFL

Oh yeah, no doubt. And I'm always saying that a great punter is a VERY underrated asset.

But... they're kickers, not football players. I mean, if they could at LEAST take care of both kicking responsibilities, I'd respect that.

I couldn't help but notice how Matthews totals stats are mentioned, including 1 pass deflection, while Cushings 2 pass deflections aren't. Put those in his stat line and it's an easy call who gets the nod easily. Who respects Houston? Only us I guess...

Well crap - guess who is tied for league leader on LB passes defended (also FF by the way)? I expected a run stopper.

Cushing had by FAR the best game of anyone on that list.

He caused 3 turnovers by himself

Agreed, but he's a Texan and until we actually start making real noise as a winning team, our players will most likely get over shadowed through the media. That's how it's always been for Houston athletes unless we had a great team at the time.

No one deserves this more than Cushing.

Whatever, it's a popularity contest.

AFC Defensive Player of the Week - that's a real award (if a weekly award can be a real award, that is) plus it doesn't even involve the word rookie. Defensive player of the week, PERIOD.

This. Man I hate these things sometimes...Still, Cush kicked some serious tail last week
