So what if it's a ground game?

i dont know whats going to happen these two teams seem evenly matched

this is deff one of the better games this week thats for sure

actually very good post. I've not really given this much thought. That was the only way the Texans beat the Colts a couple years ago. Ron Dayne just pounded the ball for most of the game. This gave Peyton very little time to be on the field to give blows. This also alloud houston in the final minutes to have the pass set up to get in for the game winning field goal. I still don't see this being a low scoring game because I don't see either team sticking with a run game that won't work for them.

There will be A LOT of pissed FFB fans who started AJ or Fitz!

BTW, I have AJ, FITZ, and Moss as Wrs in one league.

What. How many teams are in your league 3? If more are they just. . . uh. . . what did monkeys escape the zoo and learn about FFB?

If I were an outside observer, I'd have a lot more faith in Arizona's run defense than that of the Texans.

Come to think of it, I'm not an outside observer, and I feel the same.

I'm fine with running the ball all day but it can't be 1 and 2 yard gains constantly. It needs to be 4 and 5 yard gains constantly. Running the ball on 2nd and 6 and getting a first down type running, whoever may be doing that type of running too...

I think that we're gonna try and run a lot early. As soon as we get a 3 and out or Slaton fumbles though I think we're gonna unholster the weapons and the shootout will begin!!!

I would love to see Slaton, Moats and Brown make their presence known today. Brown especially if he could get some quality carries and run well he could tire out their defense which could let us make some big plays in the run with Slaton or Moats' speed or in the pass with a big play action pass.

“I think Steve gives me everything he’s got all the time, he just—he’s got to eliminate some of these balls that have been on the ground and he knows how important that is,” Kubiak said.

For sure, by now Slaton already knows that he can't be dragging his balls on the ground, doesn't he?:shades:

BTW, with Arizona having the 6th rushing defense in the NFL, I think that if it essentially turned out to be a running game, we're screwed.

True, but how much worse can our running game really get? Or theirs for that matter

How much of that is due to their shoddy pass D? Just like we know our high ranking against the pass is due in large part to our low ranking against the run.

8 team league with 2 rbs, 2 wrs, and 1 flex(rb or WR). I had 8th position was I took a different strategy. So instead of going with the traditional RB heavy approach, I went Chris Johnson with last pick of round 1, then Fitz with the first of round 2 , then AJ with flast pick of round 3 and Moss with 1st of round 4. Everyone else was grabbing rbs or Peyton, Brees, and Brady.

Yeah, sometimes its smart to think outside the box in ffb. So far in this league I am tied for first with a 3-1 record. Play co-league leader this week. Will let you know how I do. Interestingly enough this league has been basically in existence since 2001. Most of the other 7 of us have played EVERY year since then. So, my strategy definitely fooled a bunch of people.

I like our chances.
The Cards would be insane to do such a thing. That strategy takes away their strengths (Fitzgerald & Boldin) and negates our weakness (the secondary and sorry pass rush).

Thanks for all the comments and observations guys. Good discussion!

Well, the Cards held Gore to 30 yards on 22 carries in week 1, then MJD had just 66 yards in week 2. Now J-ville got way behind in that game and abandoned the run. MJD got those 66 yards on just 13 carries (5 yard average). Then the Colts put 126 rushing yards on them 2 weeks ago.

Overall, they're giving up just 3.1 per carry, but much of that is because of the 1st game where they shut down Gore and the Niners. Since that 1st game they're giving up 4.3 per carry.

Looks to me like they had 1 good game defensively against the run. Doesn't mean they can't have another one, especially with the Texans coming up, but I wouldn't put them as a top run stopping team regardless of what the stats say.

I actually think the Texans will be able to do some running on them, but I think they need to set it up with the pass. They did that a lot last season and they seem to have gotten away from that this season.
