A third OC goes down...

They say things happen in threes.

This week, three NFL offensive coordinators have been fired.

A league source tells us that the Bills have dumped offensive coordinator Turk Schonert, ten days before the team's season opener on Monday Night Football against the Patriots.

The move isn't completely shocking, in large part because we've been softened up for it a bit by the abrupt reassignment of Chiefs offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and the sudden dismissal of Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.

But the Bills' offense struggled in the preseason, and coach Dick Jauron likely realized that, if he didn't find a way to turn things around quickly, it would be Dick Jauron getting the shoe along with Schonert, and everyone else.

UPDATE: We're told that the new offensive coordinator will be quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt.

Unreal...what the heck are these teams doing. While it might not be unexpected it is amazing that professional teams don't see this coming before a week before the season.

This is just insane. But... Schonert's no-huddle offense wasn't working very well. I wonder if they're going to stick with that concept or go back to getting in a huddle?

Win now league. Personally I'm still amazed Jauron is still coaching up there. In the end my feelings are this....screw Buffalo.

I don't see why they just don't go ahead and make T.O. their OC.

Everybody knows he'll be wanting to call plays anyway.

TO: Ok, were gonna run "give me the damn ball" for the 40th time on three, ready, BREAK!

Yep..there would be what 3 plays?

TO-left sideline throw
TO-right sideline throw
TO-middle of the field throw

He does have a hurt toe or something though. They might add a play or two for some other guy.

Did not Schonert get mentioned for some type of interview with Houston some time ago?

Well, they could have waited two weeks into the season to fire their OC, which is how the Texans roll.
