SuperHero and SuperVillain football teams

Bleacherreport.com did a post the other day where they made a football team out of Superheroes.... I thought it was a poor effort.

As a way to spend some offseason (for Rockets and Texans) time, I thought that we here on the board could do a better job.

I was thinking we could put together two teams, offense and defense one for the good guys and one for the doers of evil.

Make a case for who you think should be on the team at a position and we'll see what kind of team we can come up with. Its got to be better than a team with Batman and the Punisher and OLB, those guys aren't even superpowered, they'd get killed without being able to use weapons or gadgetry.

Oh yeah that reminds me, the players can't use any non-innate skills or use skills to cause harm to an opponent, otherwise they can use their powers. E.G Deadpool couldn't use his sword, Wolverine can't claw an opponent to death but could to help him hold his position by digging into the ground, Iceman could freeze an opponents feet in place or the ball but coulnd't aim to injure an opponent.

Mods: I had no idea where to put this, it is sport and it is football but it isn't NFL..... so move it where it belongs.

The first guy I think absolutely must be on the Villans team at DT is the Blob.

The Blob could create a mono-directional gravity field extending five feet from his center of balance, rendering himself virtually immovable as long as he was in contact with the ground. His body has superhuman strength and durability; the fat tissues could absorb the impact of bullets, cannonballs, and even missiles. Unable to feel pain, the Blob’s skin could not be punctured, lacerated, frostbitten, or ravaged by disease due to its great elasticity and highly accelerated cell replacement rate.

The Dude would be an immovable object that the offense would have to account for and game plan around... and he is 510lbs!

Hero - Speedy Gonzalez!

He's tiny and he's a huge underdog! But the fans would love him because of his speed! He can be a change of pace, 3rd down back!

Hopefully The Flash can catch because he would make a great wide receiver for the Hero team. But as we have learned, track stars do not always make good football players, ie: Renaldo Nehemiah.

Batman would be the H-back.. so versatile or would you make him like the OC? with all his tricks?

The Hulk can play virtually every position. I can't decide which one bets fits the teams needs and his strengths. LT? MLB? DT?

Spiderman should be a DB. If the supervillains throw the ball to the guy he's covering, he would stop them, and if he couldn't, he could always web their hands down so he can get an easy pick.

Villain RB would be "The Juggernaut".

Of course a mutant who cannot be stopped after gaining any momentum would be an asset almost anywhere on a football team.

hopefully venom is not around :cowboy1:

I think Batman's lack of superpowers limits his onfield impact.

I had him tagged as an defensive co-ordinator type..... he has the mind for scheming and he has that ruthless edge that a defense needs.

That would seem like an obvious slot.... the fact he was pretty much impervious makes him appeal as a lead blocking FB too.

true .. I imagine the Joker would be the equivalent to Mike Marts on the offensive side.. :user:

Mr. Fantastic would be a great wideout/cornerback. No matter where the ball is thrown, he could stretch his arms and catch the rock from anywhere on the field.

I counter your Juggernaut FB with Hulk at NT and Thor at MLB.
THOR001.jpg

the possibilities are endless

Hulk at NT
Thor at SAM
Iron Man at Will
Thing at Mike
Mr. Fantastic at FS

Doomsday IS the entire Villain's defense

Ivisible Woman as your director of Scouting. She gets the indepth info no one else knows. Also put Morph anywhere on your team to confuse people to no end.

I like Defense, so I will fill out a Hero Defense. Mostly from Marvel/DC. Didnt use Superman since I would have him on offense at QB.

DE Colossus (Great against the run, good with his hands, and doesn't get injured.)
NT Hulk (I don't think there is a better big guy in the game.)
DT The Thing (Doesn't get injured, and has top 10 strength.)
DE Thor (Excels at hand to hand combat, and also enters a state known only as Warrior's Madness in the 4th quarter.)

OLB Wolverine (Do I even need a reason?)
MLB Cable (Cyborg who can lay the smack down.)
OLB Spawn (All around athlete. Big frame and can do basically everything.)

CB The Flash (Beat Superman in a foot race. Can keep up with anyone.)
FS Nightcrawler (Ability to teleport himself from one point to another virtually instantaneously. Should get a lot of picks.)
SS Spider Man (Spidey senses and great athleticism should let him get a great jump on the ball.)
CB QuickSilver (Can run Mach 5 speeds. 3,801 miles per hour. Doesnt need to be able to catch, just break up the pass.)

If Superman is good guy QB I think it makes sense to have Lex Luthor at bad guy QB. You know, for dramatic effect....

Offensive co-ordinator for the good guys: Professor X

It would be funny to have Mystique as a bad guy CB, she would impersonate a good guy WR until the ball was thrown and BOOM! Sucker picked.

Bad guy MLB-the Super-Shredder from TMNT 2 (i think 2, it's been a while) bringing the pain!

I love Mystique at the corner..... talk about disguising your coverages.

Durability and recurring injuries is always an issue with RBs, unless we sign Doomsday to the villains squad.

Kingpin for owner/GM of the Villains. That guy would be hard to turn down
Apocalypse needs a spot on thiss team. That guys huge

Bluntman and Chronic from Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back would play the part of Ricky Williams.

Ghost Rider would be a bad ass mascot. He could ride on the field kind of like Toro does.

The Punisher would be an awesome MLB.

And best of all, the character Longshot will be the team Houston Texans.

*He's got a star on his eye (see logo)
*Possesses the ability to bring really good luck (when we play like a team we can beat any team in the league)
*When trying to use his powers for selfish reasons, it backfires and gets bad luck (see Rosencopter game)
*Can read the recent memories of the person by making contact with them (see our secondary tackling the WR after a TD. Upon touch, our CB's find out the ball was thrown and caught for a TD)
*Can read psychic imprints on objects his opponent has touched (see Kubiak/Schaub's uncanny ability to draw up successful play action passes)

For the Villian QB, I would have to elect Bullseye.

A person whose aim never misses means a pretty low chance of turnovers and with a running game based around Juggernaut a game manager like Bullseye does the trick.

I want to throw out Sabertooth as a LB too.

I think Captain America would be a better QB for the Heroes squad. I mean he's a leader and can't he throw his shield? Much better QB.

Superman should be the other WR. With Superman and the Flash as wideouts... they'd be unstoppable.

Don't forget Gladiator. He is Marvels version of Superman. Rogue as Free Saftey. She saps the life out of ya, which means turnovers baby.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Apocalypse, he really could play any position.

I think Omega Red would probably make a good villian Tackle.Rhino could line up as a FB or LB. Venom would make a great LB. Should find a spot on the Villiam team for maximum carnage.
