Texans receive a C+ Draft grade

drewmar74

disgruntled
No. 29 - NYG - Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina

This kid could be the next Lawrence Taylor if we were living in a parallel universe in which Lawrence Taylor was a wide receiver who isn’t going to amount to anything. Grade: F

Real nice.

Everybody’s criticizing the choice of Moreno here. Perhaps the Broncos should have drafted someone the experts were higher on, like Vince Young or Reggie Bush. Grade: D

:spit:

24 DT Peria Jerry Miss Sr.
Jerry is a tough, passionate warrior who will immediately upgrade the Falcons front seven. But he’s not Mark Sanchez, so **** him. Grade: F minus minus

12 RB Knowshon Moreno Georgia Sr.

These two crack me up.

Think thats bad? Check this one out:

This guy grades by what he calls Process Points. But some of the comments are just ridiculous...

13. Houston Texans (8)
I gave full process points to the Texans for LB Brian Cushing, even though I would not have taken him there. I thought he made a lot of sense for the Texans because of the relative inconsistency of MLB Demeco Ryans, who has two years remaining on his rookie contract, and hasn't had been productive since 2006. The Texans have a lot of young LBs, and might decide to go with Xavier Adabi instead of Ryans, and Cushing can play in the middle if/when that happens. Connor Barwin is a fun prospect who can either play DE or LB wherever he is needed.
Does this guy watch football?

32 DT Evander Hood
Missouri Sr.
This guy has tremendous upside potential and a great motor. Those kinds of things don’t show up on a stat sheet because they’re totally meaningless. Grade: F minus

Best one.

I figured with all the "experts" giving their grades long before these guys even play a down, we could use a little humor.

all in all, imo this list has as good a chance at being accurate as the rest.

Maybe what he meant is that Demecos production has dropped off since his rookie year, which I guess is true. Whether that is because of injury, improved overall defense, or his own regression is up for grabs.

I dont know how anyone could call him inconsistent, though..

Those are so funny.

#3 - Kansas City Chiefs - DE Tyson Jackson LSU Sr.
A lot of people said this was a reach, but Jackson could end up being the best player in the draft if several other top players suffer career ending injuries. Grade: F

#7 - Oakland Raiders - Darrius Heyward-Bey Maryland Sr.
This surprise selection was actually intended as a smokescreen until the Raiders realized you had to keep whatever players you selected. Grade: F

#11 - Buffalo Bills - DE Aaron Maybin Penn State So.
The Bills really wanted Chris Long here but he was taken in the 2008 draft. Grade: F

Or that we may opt to play Xavier Adibi over him?

26 Green Bay - OLB - Clay Matthews
This is an interesting pick, especially since he was already taken at number 15 by the Texans. Grade: F

Leading up to the draft, B.J. Raji was accused of being a raging pothead with a sub-standard work ethic. He doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, though, because it's all basically true. Grade: F plus

From the '07 Mock Draft...
#8 . . .
. . . WR . . . Ted Ginn Jr. . . . Ohio State Jr.
Last year David Carr threw fewer interceptions, had a higher completion percentage, and still somehow managed to be completely ineffective. Look for the Texans to draft a receiver here for him to throw to when his tailback is covered.
