Yahoo Power Rankings for 2009-2010 Season

Texans34Life

I BLEED TEXANS!
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=nflpowerpollsupersteeler&prov=tsn&type=lgns

18. Houston Texans. - For the third straight offseason, you can bet they will be the darling sleeper contenders for many an NFL pundit. Yes, they do tease us with great production from their balanced offense in one game, only to fizzle with poor defense, turnovers and mental mistakes the next week. They also are stuck in a division with the Titans and Colts, so .500 seems likely again.

this ranking is dumb

our record might not show it but we can compete with the colts, and how does getting a new coach help there chances next year has well wouldnt it hurt there chances

Titans shoot we beat them last year at there best

and how is mami above us when we beat mami

Can't argue with this ranking. We have to prove it on the field to get respect.

I think we have the pieces (I thought we had them last year). Not let's get more consistent on defense and cut down on those awful turnovers on offense.

I agree with the rankings as well. The Texans are the league's biggest tease right now, and I believe sports media outlets and prognosticators have wised up.

We really do have to prove it on the field before we can be touted as an up and coming team. I don't see how anyone can reliably say we're better than 8-8 next year with the wild cards we now have on defense.

OK, so I'm desperate enough to debate the merits of this power poll, but I don't find any particular reason to disagree at this point.
Maybe a few weeks of added desperation will give me additional insight.

Power Rankings this early is pretty ridiculous. What are they going on? Last season and coaching changes?

No free agency, no draft. Bah!

I think it is too early for power rankings for next season. The draft and free agency has yet to be done and how do they now what's going to happen next season? Their are so many factors that go into how a season will turn out. Injuries to players, how the other teams in our division play etc. I will take power rankings seriously when training camp starts.

It is offseason, the Super Bowl is over and there is nothing going on.

To feed us football fanantics the media has to have something to peak our interest untill Free Agency and the Draft.

We will be bombarded with tidbits, rumors as to who is taking who, who is going to do what next year, and other useless trivia until real news happens.

However having us ranked in the middle of the pack is probably where we are - not a great team but not the bottom of the barrell either. Untill we show them on the field.

The Texans have become the Arizona Cardinals. Every year we have decent offseasons with good drafts. We flash enough to show everyone we're capable of something great, only to lay an egg a week later.

We'll keep being a "sleeper" pick until we show any kind of good consistency

OTOH, we're not really the Cardinals. The Cardinals were the sleeper pick for about 30 years there. We've got a long way to go before we get there.

I agree. So far we've only shown that we can go 8-8 at best. The fact that we let a couple of games get away from us prooves that.

Holy crap, and I bought into the "Cardinals are sleepers this year!" every freakin' year for the last couple of years.

Except this year, of course.

But you're right. To be legit, you have to produce in the "W" category, not just look promising. We compare favorably to the Cardinals, although I think our O line is probably better than theirs, and we sure as hell know our running game is. The defense stepped up for the most part when necessary, and our D showed flashes this year, but mainly due to changes in playcalling.
