Jeez, Utah just drove down and scored a TD on the Alabama defense as if they weren't even there.

I just created a thread at the same time as you. I guess they can merge mine with this one.Jeez, Utah just drove down and scored a TD on the Alabama defense as if they weren't even there.
Haha we practically said the same thing.I just created a thread at the same time as you. I guess they can merge mine with this one.
Pisses me off. TCU had them beat and dominated their game. One drive killed them. But I guess I should cheer for them to pump up the MWC standing and TCU should be Top 10 too after their win.Jeez, Utah just drove down and scored a TD on the Alabama defense as if they weren't even there.
I was thinking the same thing at the same time. Well, that and "the Rockets suck tonight."This couldn't happen to a better guy (Saban).I hope this tail-kicking continues.
I've been keeping an eye on Terrence Cody. Very unimpressed so far. On Utah's 2nd TD, Cody was man-to-man with a Utah O-lineman, and got pushed back - and they ran it right by him for a TD. He also isn't getting double-teamed very much, which I thought was a given for a guy of his size.
I thought that was a pushoff by the Utah WR on that third TD. I've noticed that the refs don't really call that anymore.Did Reeves go to Alabama?
This is amazing. I didnt think Utah had a chance in hell. This is exactly why they need a playoff system.
Andre Johnson does it all the time too - the refs aren't going to call that crap unless it's a REALLY SOLID shove. If it's just handfighting or a little shove like that one and the one that AJ's perfected - they're not going to call it, and I'm good with that. You have to take as much advantage of the rules as the refs will allow.I thought that was a pushoff by the Utah WR on that third TD. I've noticed that the refs don't really call that anymore.
I don't care though, Go Utah!
Alabama woke up.21-17 with 11+ in the 3rd.
Yeah, pretty much. Not only was their starting LT suspended - but the guy who replaced him left the game fairly early with an injury - so they had a third-stringer in at LT.I only saw the 4th qtr of the game... was the Utah defense always in Bama's face all game long? Because if it was, that was mighty impressive!
The entire left side of their offensive line was out and they had a true Freshman RT in the game because of it.Yeah, pretty much. Not only was their starting LT suspended - but the guy who replaced him left the game fairly early with an injury - so they had a third-stringer in at LT.
Saban is one of the top colllege coaches in the country. No need to knock him. Cody didn't get many snaps because of the offense that Utah ran. Cody played on running downs and I couldn't remember a 3rd down that he was in on. When Cody was in the game though, Utah had no answer. They couldn't run the ball. Cody isn't going to get much QB pressure, but he definitely controlled the LOS when he was in. He needs to work on conditioning to be a better player though. He needs to be on the field at all times. Also, Alabama had zero pass rush all game from the front 4.This couldn't happen to a better guy (Saban). I hope this tail-kicking continues.

I missed a lot of that. I saw Cody get pushed around by a guy smaller than him for Utah's 2nd TD - they ran right at him and scored.Saban is one of the top colllege coaches in the country. franchise tackles usually are.Looks like Andre Smith was extremely important to that Bama offense.
Utes get 8 sacks on John Parker Wilson.
I dont know about that since you ahve had both a WAC and MWC in BCS games two times each. I think they need to move some of the top teams from each of those conferences and then make that new one a BCS conferenceThe Mountain West, right now, is better than the ACC. Playoffs aren't coming any time soon(and apparently, you can blame ESPN and the TV contracts for that) so they should at least make the MWC a BCS confrence.
Pac 10 played better than any conference in bowl games so far. I think Utah showed up tonight and Alabama didn't.Or maybe shake up the Pac-10.
Boise St., Utah, BYU, and TCU could easily replace Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, and Washington State.Pac 10 played better than any conference in bowl games so far. I think Utah showed up tonight and Alabama didn't.
Both.I dunno is the SEC (and the Big 12 to, for sure) that overrated or is Utah that underrated ?
Alabama played like it wanted to be in the championship or nothing at all. And Utah had everything to play for.I dunno is the SEC (and the Big 12 to, for sure) that overrated or is Utah that underrated ?
The scary thing about Alabama's season is that they weren't supposed to be good this year. This wasn't supposed to be their year. They were supposed to do this next year, when their young talent was ready. That's the scary thing; next year was supposed to be their year.Both.
Alabama should have never been #1.
Fair enough. I might have missed that. I saw him play pretty well most of the game, but he did not get to play much because of the no-huddle offense and the high volume passing attack. I was hoping to see more from him this game as well.I missed a lot of that. I saw Cody get pushed around by a guy smaller than him for Utah's 2nd TD - they ran right at him and scored.
That's not to say I'm down on Cody - I just didn't see a whole lot from him in THIS game.
There's plenty of need for me to knock Saban. I don't like the way he carries himself or the way he conducts business. He's a great coach - no doubt. He might be the best in college football - doesn't mean I can't knock him. I generally don't like militaristic coaches, and he's certainly one.
But is that forecast predicated on Smith and Cody being back? The scary thing about Alabama's season is that they weren't supposed to be good this year. This wasn't supposed to be their year. I don't think anyone is or was expecting Smith to return. I think most experts were and are expecting Cody to return. Julio Jones and McClain are back. I want to say that Arenas is back. They have been hauling in top recruiting classes with Saben, and those are supposed to start paying off next year. But is that forecast predicated on Smith and Cody being back?
