Today was our 100th franchise game, and what a mind blowing sad game it turned out to be.

Our overall franchise record is 32-68. Will we make it to 50 wins before we get to 100 losses?

p.s. I'm feeling a bit disgusted tonight, so please excuse my rather dark humor.

They'll make 50 W's before they lose 100 ..... 32 losses before they win 18 is a stretch .... Unless they play the next 32 like they did the 4th quarter today.

Working?
I voted 50 wins. Im too worried that if we are on pace for 28-100 Memphis may be trying to steal a football team

I agree about getting to 50 wins first. It just feels like we're on a fast track to Loserville sometimes.

Doing some quick mental calculations they are winning at a 32% clip over the first 100 games. They'd have to get just over 36% in the next 49 games to be 50-99. With the same "steady improvement" we are seeing now, it may not be a stretch.

We were chatting about this yesterday. We have a historical win/loss ratio of 1 win to 2.12 losses. So if we need 18 wins to 50, that ratio translates to 38 losses (meaning 106 losses total). Obviously, not happy thoughts here.

Well, the overall W/L ratio might be a bit skewed since this was an expansion team, so let's go ahead and take the first 50 games out of the equation. Let's see, that leaves us with ....

16-34.

Maybe that's mathematically a little better, but it sure as hell doesn't feel any better.

based on the easy wins this year huh?

Call it blind faith...

Ya know, when I watch a Texans game I don't get the feeling that our team sucks....

The frustrating part to me is seeing that we actually can win in many instances..

Somehow, I'm not comforted by the prospect of having an 0-4 team that was almost good enough to steal a win or two vs. having an 0-4 team that just got blown out of the water. It's an 0-4 team any way you slice it. We can all come up with excuses why this team is theoretically better than its record, but in reality, they're an 0-4 team, just like the Detroit Lions.

Not trying to make others feel comforted...Just stating my views of the situation...

If you guys are pissed then be pissed....

I, however, will be patient with the team for the time being.

Most mediocre teams don't "suck"...they just don't make the playoffs like the better teams tend to do.

That's true...

But I wasn't expecting play-offs this year anyways...Would be nice though...

after 6 years you don't expect a playoff run? Since this was our best shot ever I can assume you never expected one playoff run since our inception? That's fine and dandy if you are having fun...cause we all know having fun is the most important thing.

I didn't expect the playoffs either but as you put it I did expect a "playoff run". I felt we had a shot at 9-7 or 10-6 but would still on the outside looking in.

I fully expected this team to be competitive for at least a wild card by now. Any other measure imho is setting the bar way to low for us fans.

Wasn't taking into account all 6 years....

I was talking about Kubiaks tenure....IMHO, Capers 7-9 year was a fluke...That team was terrible and it showed the next year after...On offense all we had on that 7-9 team was a WR and a kinda good RB....On defense we didn't have much either...

Capers left this team a mess.

Expecting play-offs and hoping for play-offs are two different things anyways. I seriously doubt there were many Texan fans "expecting" play-offs this yr....

There's some poeple around here that have just gotten so used to the losing, Texan fans really should expect more out of their football team. I'm really getting sick and tired of being ashamed of this team.

The first 50 had the exact same record as the second 50 games. Will the third set of 50 be different?

oh really? Isn't that interesting in a 'jinxy' sort of way...

I can't accept a reality of the next 50 being anything like the first two. Seriously, what does a fanatic have to do to get some positive karma from the football gods around here?

Well, how many games does the team get and still qualify as an expansion team? 50? 100? If it's 50, does that make you feel better that the second 50 games were the same record? Or would you just feel better if the first 100 qualified as "expansion"? Or would you rather I just stop pointing these things out? ;)

Lets just continue to think we are an expansion team .... Until their record proves otherwise .... at least we have an excuse.

I chose 50 wins, but I'm afraid it may be way too close for happiness.

6 wins. If we don't get 6 wins this year, Kubiak should be fired. That's where I'm setting the bar. If we don't get at least 15 wins from now until the end of next season, he is also gone. 6 this year and 9 next, 8 and 7, 7 and 8, whatever, but we better get 15 wins by the end of next season, starting with a bare minimum of 6 this year.

Wait 'till 2010. A playoff WIN or you are gone.

Com'on Vinney !! You're going to saddle Kubiak & Smith with the mistakes of CC and Capers ? It's been three years next spring. That's it. And they had to basically start from scratch. They haven't missed on seven offensive lineman. Last time I checked the bookend tackles are playing rather well. You want to argue Ahmen was a major flaw but I see no guarantees stamped to these guys feet. If they can keep the old guy healthy, he looked pretty good Sunday. No one likes to lose. The only question now is will these guys quit. Or are they going to get mad as hell and become a team. The only flaw I see with Kubiack is he tends to ride the vets too long. So what ? Bum Phillips did the same thing. So did George Allen in Washington. Sometimes it works. This season it did not. Gave some guys a chance to prove they had stuff left in the tank, and they didn't. Gave some young guys a chance to prove they belong on an NFL field...and they're still waiting. Everyone has the right to vent after a bad loss. Just don't lump seven years onto the Kubiak's and Smith's back. I knew it was going to be bad. I said so at the time. You guys wanted to rebuild. You just didn't want to except the fact at how bad the talent on the roster truly was. Guess what. Now you know. It was pretty bad.

The only thing I'm truly pissed about we got Hunter Smith and Drayton Florence in our cross hairs for thirty three snaps or so...and both got out unscathed. Now I gotta question whether these guys or football players. Or just a bunch of guys collecting checks. No one messes with our guys. If you do, there will be a reckoning. Apparently not for this crew. They're just too GD nice. I mean the next time someone goes for it on forth down...to hell with whether or not you stop it. Mame the Qb. All eleven guys just pile on the sob. Start knock the snot out of their QBs. They have to cart a few off the league will get the message. They'll stop that sheet. You go for it on forth down...scratch one qb. By guad get the SOB in the bottom of the pile and bite his GD ear off. Let the center and gaurd have the three yards. Pluck the QB from behind the wedge and just knock the SOB to Mars. That'll stop it. Yeah go for it on forth down if ya wanna. Just bring the GD shovel to load up your QB's parts into the body bag when you're done.

I feel the exact same way. The brutal schedule, IKE, etc. hasn't helped us any, but you know what they say about excuses...

I'd like to see the Texans absoutely THRASH their next three opponents, but it's about as likely as a quick end to the stock market crisis.

the Texans revamped/changed coaches, GM, players & systems but have yet to change the culture of losing, until that happens nothing changes :logo:
