Tulsa-Rice should be interesting this weekend, the combined score could be over 100. Those arent the most defense oriented teams out there.

I would have LSU in front of Texas.

Penn State in front of Missouri? Seriously?

Also, I am not sure why you have Auburn so low. I would have them at around 13. I am bias, so sue me.

Texas over LSU may have been a knee-jerk reaction because of this past week. LSU wasn't too impressive against Miss St & Texas completely destroyed Arkansas. Other than that, I think they are pretty close.

It was almost a coin flip between Penn St & Mizzou. I have them really close, but I think the Nittany Lions have a way better defense so I gave them the edge.

Auburn has beaten nobody & they barely escaped against two bad teams (Tenn & Miss St).

I wouldn't consider Arkansas to be a "good" team. Beating three teams 52-10 is awfully consistent but I would wait to see them play Oklahoma before saying one way or the other. On the other hand, I know how talented LSU is.

If you are really surprised by those close games Auburn and LSU won, you don't really know SEC football. That's just how it goes in the toughest division in college football.

i worry about USF. looks like the same old team each year. stink up the joint and barely beat FIU, come out for a tough road game and demolish NC State the next week. i sense the same old Jim Leavitt philosophy of playing down to the competition is in play big time this year

I don't consider Ark to be a good team at all.

Texas has not played OU yet so that is not reflected in my rankings. I mentioned that I don't rank teams based on how talented they may or may not be, only on what they have done.

I'm not suprised by the close games in the SEC. But Tennessee & Mississippi St look like bad teams, regardless of their conference allegiance. And Auburn had trouble with both of them.

The SEC can hardly claim to be the far and away best conference in college football anymore. Those days are over. They are still the best, but the Big XII is right up there also.

kastofsna

top to bottom there's no topping the SEC. even Vanderbilt looks like a team no one wants to play nowadays. Big XII has some big-hitters offensively at the top, sorta bleeds into mediocrity past that

I definitely agree. At the top, Alabama is doing some amazing stuff, but other than that the Big 12 takes the cake. The four offensive juggernauts in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Tech will be hard to stop.

P.S. - I am looking forward to the Oklahoma and Texas game. Like I said, it will really gauge both teams, and very likely could end up being an ESPN Classic.

I really don't see how we can beat OU this year. They have looked nearly perfect so far.

I would consider Reesing and KU an offensive juggernaut. I don't think we are in the same class as that group, but our offense is for sure. If you want a picture of our schedule to round out the season, clip out the AP's top 7 teams - we play 4 of them still this year after losing by a last second field goal to the #10 team on the road after dominating much of the game.

Miss St isnt very good on offense but their defense is good enough to keep them in most games. I wouldnt set off alarms for winning a close game against them.

Probably the only reason you think that is because Miss St is in the SEC. If that is not the case, then tell me and I will take it back, but it probably is.

They are giving up 4.6 yards per carry & 13.5 yards per completion. Not the worst numbers ever, but hardly worth consideration as a good defense.

Their d-line provides a good pass rush & their FS (Pegues, I think) makes a lot of plays. Beyond that, I'm not impressed.

I have to agree. North Carolina is a team that can suprise some people and break that top 20 this year. I also think Florida St will make it's way back in the top 20 this year. Miami may still have a year to go, but I could be completely wrong and the Hurricanes could beat FSU this weekend. Florida State at Miami games are always great games. Atleast this time we play in Dolphin Stadium. Better than the Orange Bowl.

I think it's a good top 25 bah. Everybody has a different one, and you don't have any way out there teams.

I'm not a big fan of Boise State, Kentucky, or Oregon. Kentucky and Boise State don't have any losses but I need to see more of them. Oregon is overrated IMO.

I really like Ball St. I'd put them in my top 20, but after Love got a career ending injury I need to see how they bounce back from that. That QB Nate Davis is a good football player. He will no doubt be an NFL QB. He's got "it". You can see it when you watch the team. No idea where he is considered round wise at this point but he looks like atleast a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

The players can't control who they play, but they can control the outcome.

UP TO THIS POINT, Texas has completely dominated everybody they have played.

If you schedule crap teams, you better beat the snot out of them. Texas has done that so far.

I don't get to see any college ball and don't follow it all that much, but I may end up living in Nebraska for my daugthers operation and was curious about them.

Really? I thought Marve looked average in the games I saw him play. I thought Jacory Harris had what it takes. Too bad Marve is the starter because I think Harris could do some real good things over there. Only problem with him is that he is skinny as a rail.

I understand that Marve broke all of Tebow's high school records, but I just didn't see it. Maybe I am wrong.

We'll see this Saturday how he does against Florida State. :shades:

Bill Calahan came in and ruined everything. They still recruit decently, but under Calahan, they were just bad.

I think Pelini can turn them around, as long as he keeps his attitude in check with the referees...

#16 Kansas is getting handled by Iowa St 20-0 at the half.

KU's lack of running game is finally catching up with them. They are gaining only 3.3 yards per play & have three turnovers already.

Austen Arnaud (ISU) is 15/18 for 126 & a TD. Who saw that coming?

No school was hurt more by the reduction of scholarships to 85 than Nebraska.
It basically killed their , "take twenty five big guys and let them fight it out for two years for pt on the OL", thing that they did. Once that base was taken away from them, it killed their rushing attack. Once that was gone, and they had to compete with the beef along with everyone else, they became very ordinary.

GL & prayers for your daughter's operation.

Cant see Bama staying #1 after they struggled to beat a mediocre team.

TT being undefeated should be above those 1 loss teams. I'd put them at 5.

Also think OU is the best 1 loss team.

If Texas beats Mizzou, they easily jump Bama in my poll. But right now, Bama's big win over Georgia is still enough to keep them #1.

The only decent team Tech has played is Nebraska. And they needed overtime to win that one.

Florida looked pretty dominating against LSU. That's a quality win against a quality opponent. OU doesn't have one of those yet.

Remeber that my poll is based on resume, not on who I think is better. Ranking teams based on how good you think they are is flawed and leads to bias so I rank them on what HAS happened. Not what WILL or COULD.

BYU needs some more love in there and need to be above Tech. Tech has a great offense but their D blows chunks, as BYU has a great D as well as who I feel is one of the best QB's in the nation in Max Hall.

The loss really hurts LSU in my poll because they haven't beaten anybody.

Florida and Oklahoma are very close in my poll. Florida's loss was worse, but they have more quality wins than Oklahoma.

My poll is not linear. I don't move teams up and down from their previous spot each week.

Instead, after each week I completely redo the poll. This way I can avoid poll inertia keeping overrated teams too high just because they were ranked high at the beginning.

So in my poll you will see teams jump up high after big wins because it drastically improves their overall resume. You will also see teams with big drops for the same reason.

Then why is Georgia so high? Where's the "quality win"? They've played one ranked team and got their ass handed to them.

Auburn is hardly a quality opponent this season. All they are this year is a name. Their offense is averaging 1 yard more per game than Michigan's.

LSU's best win is at Auburn (4-3). They have also beaten Mississippi St (2-4) & North Texas (0-6).

Georgia's best win is at South Carolina (5-2). They have also beaten Central Michigan (4-2) and Tennessee & Arizona St (both 2-4).

They both got beaten by good teams.

Georgia clearly has a better resume.

I know your "re-sort" every week but I've got know. Was it because USC only beat Washington State by 69 points or because Ball St whipped Western Kentucky by 17 that caused you to suddenly think Ball St is 5 spots better than USC instead of 8 spots worse.

Sorry dude, but you've crossed the line silliness here.
