Not sure if this was already mentioned. However this is a pretty good article.

I've had more than one NFL executive tell me that players who spend their college days in Austin get quite accustomed to being treated like gods. And once those same players leave college and enter the NFL, they quickly discover that success is much harder to find when the world isn't colored in shades of burnt orange.

Interesting article. I can see how Texas players are somewhat coddled while in Austin and the NFL being a culture shock to them. With that said, (and it pains me to say this), there have also been a lot of kids to come out of Austin and do very well in their transition(s) to the NFL.

Ricky Williams obviously had issues outside of football, Austin and TU. Vince Young's problems stem with him being a QB for a collegiate offense, not an NFL offense - and being very immature.

The other guys mentioned seem to be doing just fine. Leonard Davis is playing very well with the Cowboys versus his time in Arizona.. Dallas v. Arizona? Ya think??? Vasher, Jammer, Johnson, Williams are all doing fine... (except Roy Williams needs to learn how to tip servers).....

You can also throw Griffin and Ross in there too.

If the Texans came away with Orakpo and Ulatoski in next springs draft, I'd be a very happy camper.

YTF is taking a top rated guard and projecting him to cover the tackle spots in a pinch. Ulatoski is a tackle and has played both tackle spots. I'm projecting him to go to war with one of our current guards for a starting spot. What I know about Ulatoski is he started out life as the Left tackle on South Lake Carrols State Championship teams which made the run to seventy two straight games. Daniels was also on that team. He had a fine hook block that sprung Jammal Charles for a long run and score from the right tackle position last year in the OU game. He can run and hook block. And he covers 80% of the o-line positions at the pro level. And I think he'll fall into the top of the third round. His primary adversary in a couple of weeks will be Austin English, the highly touted OU DE.

You do realize I suggested Duke to stay at OG, not to "cover the tackle spots in a pinch". It would be pretty courteous if you would stop blatantly misquoting me or attempting to speak for me in a conversation I'm not in.
 
I can't believe that noone is mentioning the greatest of them all. Earl Campbell. You look up the words class, humble, honorable and there's a picture of Earl posing with the heisman trophy and his mom.
 
Geez, this has gone on the entire time through the Mack Brown era. He is way more of a grandpa then a coach. He burps his players and coddles them. My friend and I have a nick name for him called Cookies, because I heard that him and his wife actually bake cookies a lot and for some of the players.

Texas teams have been soft just about every single season. Mack is soft, and he is to weak and loyal to a fault that he won't ever get rid of Greg Davis and that terrible scheme that they've been running for years.

My only hope is that Will Muschamp can toughen this team up and eventually get Mack pushed out of there. I would love to see Muschamp become the next head coach at Texas. They would finally start matching toughness and swagger to the great talent that they get every year through recruiting.
