Like the Chris Jones pick. Don't have a ton of familiarity with him either, but he appears to be a penetrating NT in the Earl Mitchell mold. I still would like to see at some point a guy more in the "Immovable object" mold for run downs. I still don't think we have that - but I think this guy has some real upside by all accounts. We shall see.

I'm somewhat surprised they didn't grab an ILB. I guess they have other plans.

TE sounds alright, but yeah, I feel like there were other needs.

Ryan Griffin?

So many better TE's on the board. Lackluster end to an otherwise very solid draft.

COMPARES TO: Garrett Graham, TE, Houston Texans - Although overshadowed by Owen Daniels in Houston's offense, Graham is a reliable receiving threat who also gives good effort as a blocker. Griffin is probably more of a No. 2 TE like Graham, but can also step up and start if needed.
Source

STRENGTHS: Griffin passes the eye test with good size for the position. He has quick hands and length to extend and snatch the ball out of the air, using very good focus to adjust to off-target throws. Griffin does a nice job locating and going up to get it to bring it down, securing over-the-middle catches and showing natural ball skills.

Griffin is 3 inches taller than graham. Can probably pack on some more weight and potentially become a 6'6 receiving target.

I was hoping more for the TE from UCLA, but this kid is in a similar mold. I could see him potentially being a red zone target as he is 6' 6". I'm ok with it. He's got a chance to stick as the 3rd TE.

Still was hoping for Rogers or Matt Scott. Hoping one of both fall thru the draft. If Rogers is a UDFA, we should jump all over it.

All in all, I'm a pretty happy camper. The last 3 picks took the grade down slightly, but my first impression is an overall B+ maybe A-.

Good job Texans!! I'm pumped!

This could turn out to be one of the best drafts in Texans history. Pretty happy with it. Can't wait until camp starts.
