I thought the purpose of targeting a wr was to find a playmaker with enough speed and shake to threaten a defense? If we're going to snag a te and make him a wr why bother upgrading walter at all (other then $)?

I don't mind us drafting a TE and a receiver both and cut Walter to save money and start clearing way for other receivers to see more snaps.

I don't necessarily call for Eifert, just want to mention that his blocking is pretty decent.

Te'o during his live interview w/ media has confirmed he has already met w/ the Texans. I know this guy has acquired some recent baggage, but I would not be too opposed to him becoming a Texan. Outside of the national championship game he played very well throughout the season.

Te'o's "baggage" means zip to me. I just don't think he's a 1st round NFL ILB. He's probably a better fit in a Tampa 2 defense than Wade's 3-4. Not super physical and better in zone than man. But I don't think what happened to him reflects anything as a football player.

I thought that the last couple of 1st round picks the Texans made they had very minimal contact with them almost to the point that when selected by us they where surprised that we took them.

“He’s a darn good player, and we’re looking at inside linebackers,” coach Gary Kubiak said about one of the team’s needs. “He’s an effort player. He can run and hit. There’s a lot to like.”

Teams have 15-minute interviews with 60 players. The Texans gave Te’o an indication of what to expect during his interviews.

“Everybody wants to check his sincerity and see if you can trust him,” Kubiak said. “He just said, ‘Here’s my story’ and told us. He answered our questions. He wasn’t defensive. He stood his ground, wasn’t gunshy. Lot of poise. He had it under control. He’s ready to move forward. I was impressed with the young man.”

I think there are many that would disagree that he isn't 1st round talent, but he may fall to the 2nd round depending on his combine performance. I think he played very well outside of the Alabama game & Kubiak had nothing but good things to say. Hits & runs well to go along w/ effort, the latter being something the Texans have been focusing on the last few drafts for the defense. Teo did have success in the zone & that may suit him, but that doesnt mean he cant go man to man. If his speed & agility drills go well then he could probably adapt to playing man coverage. I'm not willing to short change him just yet because of what he excelled in in college. People did that to Cushing saying he was tight in the hips & so forth & he does fairly well in coverage. Besides, if the Texans felt Dobbins, James, & Sharpton fit the bill to play alongside Cushing then I have little doubt that Teo would be an upgrade above all them.

I'm not a member of the Teo Fan Club, but he is amongst the ILB's that I wouldn't mind seeing become a Texan along w/ Minter & maybe A. Brown depending on how his shoulder injury pans out. I agree the "baggage" shouldn't matter, but that 40 time will & it's only a matter of time before we know what Teo can do.

Kubiak gushing a bit about Teo kinda makes me think we are not going to take him. You don't gush over guys you like unless you are Charley Casserly. I think Teo is overrated as well, so I'm hoping we pass.

I don't know that that is accurate. I would imagine with the combination of the catfish scandal, his recent popularity blow up topping off right before a national championship game effected this YOUNG mans head. That's a lot for someone his age to overcome. Hell a veteran NFL player would have a hard time dealing with all that on that kind of stage.

He's not a top ten talent but where we are drafting his talent is defiantly great value.

DB's are the last group to go through the interview process (and all the other combine processes for that matter). They do team interviews on Sunday and Monday, so that list is not really relevant for CB's or Safeties yet.

Hopefully it's also woefully incomplete, as every team can do up to 60 interviews during the combine, and as of the end of the day Saturday, inteviews for OL, TE's, QB's, WR's, and RB's were finished.

Even after resigning Quin, if we don't upgrade at the ILB position, we need to upgrade at the safety position. Without a true 3 down ILB to play next to Cushing, Quin becomes that ILB.

If we lose Quin, we need to hit on an ILB & a Safety, since we don't have either on this roster as it stands now. If we're looking at Sharpton, it's imperative we sign Quin. Sharpton doesn't belong on the field on 3rd down.

I like Dobbins on 1st & 2nd down, but I'd like to have gotten a better look at Ruud. He got burned on a couple of plays vs Shane Vareen, but he held his own on a couple of other plays vs Vareen & that first play against Gronk.

Most teams have seven draft picks. That's what the Texans have, as of now. Even if they use a 15-minute interview on every guy they wind up drafting, they will have talked to 53 others they don’t draft.

To me this was done to show and to ramp up intrest in Te'o at the end of round 1 for a possible trade down. (Ex. #32 Baltimore may want to move up to get Te'o if the covet him to replace Ray Lewis)

If we show interest in a player, no one is going to ask us if we want to trade with them so they can have that player. Showing interest at a position of need might entice Baltimore to trade ahead of us to take that player.

The only thing we get out of showing interest, is that another player at a position of need might fall to us.

Let's say we really want a WR, but we are successful in letting the league think we really want an ILB, Teo, Minter, & the other one. If we're lucky, all three would be gone by the time we pick & two of the three WRs we're looking at falls to us. Or NT, if you wish.
