Just wanted to see what folks are thinking about the supplemental draft and if there might be anyone of interest we might want to talk to or might be of interest to ponder about if
One name that got my attention was USC DT Manuel Wright. Not sure if we get picks or could get him or another decent prospect coming out, but figured since it's dead news season we might as well kick this topic around. Thoughts??

I could see the Texans using one of their 3 round picks in the supplement draft for Manuel Wright.

Just wonder, have any good players even come out of this draft? Think the biggest player ever to get picked was the Boz and we all know how he turned out. :brickwall

Bernie Kosar was taken in a supplemental draft. I believe it was 1985. Some would say that he was a "good player".

Off the top of my head....Bernie Kosar, Bobby Humphrey, Rob Moore, and Steve Walsh were supplemental picks.

Wasn't Cris Carter a supplemental pick as well? I seem to recall him being one, but I'm not sure. Guess I'll have to look it up.

We had extra picks and the franchise was just starting up. Both guys are still on the roster. Put up or shut up year this year for Hollings. Brown was not a high pick though.

I would not mind us spending a 3rd on Manuel Wright. I know many here don't like that high of a choice for him, but to me the reward, if he is good, far outways the negative. We will have a year to observe if he will eventually be a good fit for our DL. If he is, then we won't have to worry about spending a first or second round pick on the DL next year. If he does not show that he has the stuff to be competative, then we will be in the same position as we already are minus the Saints trade this past draft.
I think someone higher than us will spend one of their thirds though...so I guess my hopes are not very worthwhile. Obviously all of this hinges on his workout July 8. |

It's a weighted lottery and unlike a normal draft. Teams with six wins or less are placed together, then another group of non-playoff teams and finally the playoff teams are grouped together. There will only be a couple of players in the draft and it is done via email from what I understand.

the guy has only started 2 games he just too unproven to me. If he would of stayed at USC for 1 more year came out and dominated i would of said he is a 1st or a 2nd rd pick. I think coming out early means i dont think anyone will go higher than a 4th for him. I think he is hurting himself in the wallet by coming out 1 year early
