So if Barwin got 40 QB disruptions on 533 pass rushes as a starter and Victor Butler got 15 on 132 pass rushes as a back-up, what should Butler's value be?

Disagree that Cowher built the team he was handed. Rod Woodson, Hardy Nickerson, Carnell Lake, and Greg Lloyd were already there. Chuck Knoll had already begun the rebuilding process. But his offense... how should I say this diplomatically? ...stunk.

Now Cowher did retool the Steelers over the years, no denying that. And he also benefitted from a sucky AFC Central during that time. Of course, you have to win the games on your schedule, even against "sucky" teams, and he did that.

I'm thinking TK's point was that he inherited a much better foundation than Smithiak did when they got to Houston.

Now are those totals actual pass rushes or simply defensive plays that could be runs?

Well, the simple math says Butler was more effective pass rusher...

15/132 = 11.4%

40/533 = 7.5%

Would he be as effective playing full time? That's the question...

He should be cheaper, and with Wade drafting him, he should know.
