Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco didn't mask his feelings Monday when he was asked about the NFL's championship being decided next year at MetLife Stadium, the first outdoor Super Bowl at a cold-weather site.
"I think it's retarded. I probably shouldn't say that. I think it's stupid," he told reporters after the Ravens arrived in New Orleans for Sunday's Super Bowl. "If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012...-super-bowl-nj *********************** I couldn't agree more. Who wants to attend a SB at some place that might have really cold, nasty winter weather. Just look at the recent SB in Arlington, TX which would be described as a marginal location weather-wise: yea, it's not that unusual to have really nasty ice storms there in Jan-Feb. But in NJ chances are you will have nasty weather. |

I would go to a Super Bowl played in an outdoor stadium, in the North, before I would go in its current favored profile. The weather will weed out folks, and will make it a unique Super Bowl experience.

I'm hoping next year's Super Bowl gets the added excitement of some nasty northeastern weather. I've been looking forward to it since they announced that MetLife Stadium was getting the game.
And hopefully it's two dome teams playing the game!

If I were to attend a regular season game in cold and snow, I probably wouldn't mind the experience. However, if I were wealthy given a Super Bowl trip including pregame events, food, lodging and game I would be shelling out out anywhere from $5 to $10 grand, it would have to be an experience done in comfort.

#1- the weather won't weed out the non-football fans= not with these prices
#2- the NFL threw the Giants and Jets a bone- its more about revenue for them andthe surrounding areas #3- the NFL started the wram weather Super Bowls with the idea that the weather wouldn't affecct th game- i believe that the Colts SB was the only playd in the rain? #4- Weather is flukey on the East Coast/North East= all las week it was in th 20's with lows in the teens. Today its 62. Go figure. |
