Current Centers on Texans Roster? - Houston Texans Message Board & Forum

Just curious exactly how many lineman are on the Texans roster who are capable to either start or fill in at the Center position? In 2002 the Texans selected Fred Weary with the 1st pick of the 3rd rd & at the time was considered the 2nd best prospect at his position in the draft (after LeCharles Bentley- N.O. 44th overall). Then the Texans waited until this year and selected Drew Hodgdon in the 5th rd who seems far more athletic & quick but lacks the size & strength, probably if he works real hard a starter in two years, maybe sooner (could become one of the Texans better picks) does this depth list look accurate to y'all?

I'd put Fred ahead of Drew, for now.

I'd put Todd in front of Steve....He's gotta be a better pass protector, cuz Steve sets the bar extremely low.

The thing with Steve and Todd is it seems they are better suited to different DTs. McKinney often gets overpowered by the strong ones (Like Stroud and Henderson) while Washington's feet are too slow to deal with the quicker ones. I'm pretty sure McKinney won't be going anywhere this year.

that's why we're hopeing that drew can really learn a lot this year and work his way into challenging steve next year
