Default Tom Brady's Plane Skidds Off Runway

Quote:
BOSTON -- A small private jet skidded off the runway at Norwood Memorial Airport Tuesday morning. No passengers were on board yet, but the plane was on its way to pick up New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Federal Aviation Administration authorities said there were only two pilots on board the Dassault Falcon 10 jet. Neither were injured. The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m.

NewsCenter 5's Kelley Tuthill reported that Brady was waiting for the plane in the airport lobby when it overshot the runway. The aircraft, owned by Northeastern Aviation, was supposed to take Brady to Las Vegas for a speaking arrangement.

"We were checking out the window, and we watched the landing. It was, as we refer to in the business, landing hot. He was unable to get it stopped, and it ran off in the safety overrun area at the other end of the runway," airport worker Len Carroll said.

"I turned around and I looked and I saw a cloud of dust, I just said to someone, 'Did that plane just crash?' I turned around and I came back into the office and we started talking to see what I could do," airport worker Tonya Zbyszewski said.

Brady made other travel arrangements after the plane became stuck in the mud at the end of the runway.

The incident remained under investigation.

The airport's Web site says "private, corporate, and chartered aircraft frequently use the airport when bringing in visitors to Foxboro Stadium, home to the New England Patriots football team and the Revolution Soccer team, as well as concert goes to the nearby Tweeter Center."

Remember the plane that crashed last year coming into Houston to get President Bush (senior)? As I recall, there were 2 on board that were killed.

Actually I think 3 were aboard Sassy: pilot, copilot, and a flight attendant.
No survivors.
One of the wings of the jet clipped the very top of a light tower which was
right next to a paybooth on the south side of the Sam Houston Toll Way on approach into Hobby.
Very wierd accident under any circumstances but given the experience of the crew, their familiarity with the airport, and most of all the stature of the passenger they were coming to pick up - I dunno, guess stranger things have happened. But prelim findings indicate just a tragic accident.
