My sister met Arian Foster a few weeks ago and got my Reebok jersey signed by him. Problem is, the jersey was given to me as a gift and I think it might be a replica. Not sure if a true replica or knock-off.
Is this worth anything? We have pictures of him signing it so it is legitimate. Not looking to sell it, but wanted to frame it for myself. Worth spending the money to have it framed? Is it worth anything on a (possible) knock-off jersey? Please no BS replies, thanks and GO TEXANS!! |

Authentic jersey will be stiched lettering and stiched numbers...
Replica jerseys will have painted on letters and numbers..... Having a jersey framed will increase its value.... Having the signed jersey authenticated by like Tristar or some other company will be even better...... |

Does it matter which type of jersey it is? If you're not worried about the resale value, frame it, hang it, and show it off.

There are replicas and knockoffs with stitched letters. I have autographed items, and I suppose if worse came to worst I could have them authenticated by Tri-star. Perhaps that would be of interest of my heirs because I have no interest in selling any of my memorabilla. I do have one huge concern and that is in the event of burglary, fire or other disaster what my insurance would cover.

Everything on the jersey is stitched.
I agree it doesn't really matter if its technically worth anything but my hesitation comes in authenticating it if it's a knock-off. I guess they don't care what is signed they just care about the signature. Right? I do not wish to sell it, I'd like to keep it considering they (autograph and jersey) were gifts. But I have to agree I'd like my insurance to cover it if it were stolen or worse. And from what I understand they won't even think about memorabilia replacement without COA proof. Anyone know/recommend a good framer for this? Or should I start a new topic? |

I don't mean to be crass, but I think you all vastly over estimate the value of your items.
Your home owner's probably does cover the theft/destruction of the jerseys but your deductible is probably 1-2% of the value of your home. These jerseys have a market value of maybe $200-300 tops? I promise you have a ton of stuff in your home worth way more than the jerseys. Sports memorabilia is a niche market and has a very narrow view of what is valuable. I wouldn’t even spend the money for a COA. I don’t know what they charge but it probably won’t increase the value of your item enough to cover the authentication cost. As far as framing, you can get a special custom frame jersey with special glass and special matting and pay well over $1,000, but that just doesn’t make sense for a $200 jersey. I would wait until Hobby Lobby has a 50% frame sale. Just don’t hang it in direct sunlight and you’ll be fine. There was a guy at the last Tri Star that makes cheap ‘custom’ (every Texans one was the same, every Colts one was the same, etc.) frames that were pretty cool. If anyone wants his info PM me and I’ll look for his business card. I think he works out of his house, so probably a little more leeway to work with than a retail store. *edit* I.E. intrensic value to you >>>>>>>> cash value on the retail market |

I don't disagree the problem is the cost of replacing. It would cost me much less to have it framed and authenticated and covered than to not and go find the same item to replace it. Now, that's where retail value plays in. But I don't disagree with you at all.
I'd like his info please, thanks! |
