was the injury for manning bad for the texans? i mean because of this, the colts got andrew luck. i figured that manning would get old one day but the colts have a future star qb. in some ways, i'd rather have manning retire in a colts uniform.

I think Manning still has a few years left. Had an MVP season this year. I'd personally take Manning's next 4 years over Luck. Imagine what the Colts would've been able to get for that Luck pick if they'd held onto Manning. So, I'm glad they let Manning go.

Today... it seems that "elite" QBs & high powered offenses rule the world. But it'll come back full circle. Actually, after we win the Super Bowl, they'll probably throw us up there next to the Giants & say that's the new formula. But remember what happened to the last 5 QBs we tried to put in the HOF before they did anything. Flacco, Ryan, Vick, Young, Palmer, Rivers.... Let's see how it plays out. But I will say one thing. The Teams that usuall win are the teams from strong divisions. Teams that have to get up to beat a good team more often... so if Luck can keep the Colts at that level, the better for us.

Manning is a HOF and is still playing like an MVP. Luck has a ton of potential, but that's all it is right now. I would rather face Luck twice next year for the division than Peyton Manning.

I'd rather they have been left with Manning rather than Luck. Manning has been great this year, but he is also on a better team than the Colts. The Colts had already started showing signs of decline the last couple of years with Manning. What we didn't need was them lucking into a franchise QB who we will have to deal with for years.

Luck is no Manning ..... That bastard is the best QB Ive ever seen play the game. Glad to see him out of the AFC South.
The Dolts did get a solid replacement .... but he wont amount to a hemriod on Peytons ass when its all said and done. (I hope)

The fate of the Colts & Andrew Luck is in our hands. Hopefully the football gods who make the schedule won't have both our games against the Colts so late in the season again. Let us beat him to a pulp in September, then again in December for the next two years & we'll see where mr Luck shakes out.

This is all hindsight 20/20 but seriously think what the Colts could have done by trading that Luck pick and keeping Manning. They'd still be set at the QB position and could have gotten additional first and second round picks for the next 2-3 years. That alone could have given them plenty of ways to shore up their Oline and add defensive players everywhere.
Manning is as good as ever at 36 years old (MVP) after not even playing all last season. Favre played well into age 40. Luck is good but all he is is potential where we KNOW what Manning is capable of, which is a top-3 all time QB. We seriously "lucked" out that Indy decided to part ways with Manning because they could have done much more with Manning+all the picks they could've gotten from a Luck pick trade. |

Manning is one of the best to ever play the game folks. Luck is good and has a lot of potential but that doesn't mean he's going to be the next HOF QB, he could be the next Jay Cutler for all we know. Cutler everyone thought would be great and it turns out he's not a tier 1 QB. Luck has tendencies and weaknesses like every QB and with a year of tape on him lets see how defenses react. |

Luck =/= Manning. But, NOBODY is going to be the next Peyton Manning. He's one of the NFL's greatest QBs ever.
However, Luck doesn't have to be Manning. The only reason a comparison is even made is the Colts connection. Let's not fool ourselves with this comparison. Luck has been an absolute badass as a rookie. This season, Luck set a new rookie record for passing yards (4,374), game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime (seven) and most wins by a No. 1 overall pick (11). And this is just his first year with a 2-14 team. Luck is going to be this divisions ying to the Texans yang. Get used to it folks. We got two years as clear division leader, but that's going to change in 2013. |
