Ouch.
It would take a so-called "team of destiny" to overcome those historical hurdles. The 2011 Texans felt like they could have been that team. The 2012 version...'eh, not so much. |

To be fair the 2011 team didn't look like that team a few days before the playoff's.

I'd bet that no team that has played the way the Texans have played the last 5 weeks have won a play-off game. Bottom line, the Texans have some demons to exorcise & get to playing good football.
With a short week & players still on & off the injury report, they've got enough hurdles to jump. The thing is, that everyone of us here believe they are completely capable of playing better. That they "should've won" 2 of the last three. If we are right, there is no reason why they can't pull it together, win this week & worry about next weeks game later.

I don't need history to tell we're in trouble, I think it's pretty obvious.

Its all an elaborate rope-a-dope by Kubiak to lull the NFL in to underestimating us. Teams took note of how dominate we were early in the season and everyone was watching us more and studying us for weaknesses. We had too much attention, he had to do something. Years from now this will be looked at as one of the smartest strategic decisions in all of sports.
Houston will come out against the Bengals and feather the throttle, just enough to win, same thing the next week, then put the pedal down a little in the AFC Championship, and then in the Superbowl Kubiak will unleash the hounds full throttle. OK, OK, so this isn't even remotely true, but this is what I keep telling myself so that I will keep a positive attitude and even bother watching the WC Game........... Its just so damn frustrating that Kubiak came here, established a strong offense, and when we are finally in striking distance, and healthy by end of the season standards and the wheels fall off the one side of the ball that has been the most consistent on a year on year basis. The football gods hate us, thats all it can be....... I remember that almost everyone in here was like "Wow we have an offense, if we just had a top 10 or 15 defense we can go all the way". No we have the defense, although struggling, and then all of a sudden no offense, WTF.....

It's like the stat that says having a bye week increases your chance of winning the superbowl. You've got the bye week because you are one of the best two teams in your conference, so you should have a better shot at winning the title than a wild card team.
I honestly believe we started to hot and lost the edge once the playoffs were inevitable. Think it is human nature for all but the most intense people.

My worry is that I think that it is FAR FAR easier to turn it off than to get it going again.

Regardless of Kubiak's limitations as a head coach (real or perceived), I would expect him to make a tough decision to address the problem at QB. This could mean that Schaub has to compete to keep his job in pre-season. If Kubiak doesn't do this, everyone can uncork their outrage at that time. But right now, it's unwarranted to saddle him with the blame for Schaub's collapse, which may be due to his foot, his mental state, or that he's a Manchurian QB planted by Bud Adams. Owen Daniels does a weekly interview with the local AM station in Austin, and last week he sounded uncharacteristically depressed. The team knows that the engine has a bad cylinder. The question is: Will Kubiak make the tough choice to fix it? |

Kubiak sticks with his people. And, he loves his QB. So, he'll stick with Schaub because Schaub will make all kinds of promises in the off-season, and Schaub will work on his game. Even if that doesn't work next year, and we see the same issues with Schaub, I think Kubiak still sticks with his guy. Realistically, I can't see a QB change until 2015 at the earliest. |

This reeks of someone just stringing along stats to come up with a fluff piece. I'm sure you could string along a few stats to make a pro Texans victory article as well.
