I doubt Matt would've signed a contract for less after coming off an injury. No agent worth his salt would suggest doing that.

I thought he signed it at the beginning of this year. He is also the only player available that knows everything about Kubiaks system.

Then Florio is wrong. The important point for me, if true, is it's a two year deal with options after that.

Schaub got an average NFL contract.
He will rank even lower in pay the next couple of years when some other QBs get to the high end portion of their contract or when they re-up. That's not counting the young guys that will get a bigger pay day when their time comes. Right now, Schaub is earning about half of the top 5-7 QBs. The Texans get value for their money that they can spend somewhere else. |

Im really concerned about his health .... nothing about the past month tells me Schaub is anywhere neare the top of his game. Lets hope he gets it together and proves me wrong. I wonder when those options have to be picked up and if they are seperate or options in each year.

Sage Rosenfels knows Kubs' system and so does Brett Favre.

I want to see Schaub step up and lead us to the Super Bowl. He's playing awful right now. That under-thrown ball to James Casey could have given us a 13-7 lead but instead we trail 14-6 at halftime. Don't forget we had a chance to sign Peyton Manning last off-season. It would have taken a lot of creativity to make enough cap space but Bob McNair pretty much said "Schaub is our guy and Peyton's health is too much of a risk."
