Says the NFL is biased against defense, Cush gets hit and out for the season and Slauson gets only a 10k fine. Sounds a little pissed to me.

Fines simply are not based on the injury the illegal hit causes and I dont think it will ever be that way

Yep. It is a sad state of affairs sports are in right now with the guys leading the charge. Is Bettman the NHL commissioner?

A car that runs straight through the intersection on a red light is more much more dangerous than a car slowing down and slowly makes a right turn. Both drivers pay the same amount of fine. I've read a few cases on the net (and I know somebody who got a ticket) where the driver does look around for traffic and was going like a turtle. There was no traffic in sight, but it's still a red light violation for failure to make a complete stop. The law is supposed to be for safety but the camera is used for the extra purpose of making money for the cities. I think they should levy a smaller fine in those instances.

Can't see Goodell getting run out anytime soon, fresh contract and seems to have engineered a real position of strength with the owners.

Surely its a better deterant if there is an element of certainty about the punishment, these guys are going to be seeing an illegal hit as a gamble where you may lose 10k, you may lose 30k, who knows, but they'll be happy to take that gamble to help their team.

All I'm asking for is consistency, if that is giving everyone a 30k fine then so be it, but the wild variation seems like finger in the wind kind of stuff.
