I know its meaningless...but for so long a time, we were the laughingstock, and, the butt of many a joke from the league. Its a sweet change of pace to be on the receiving end of good reports and praise for a change.

I care too. Certainly won't buy a cup of coffee at your local Ford Dealer's Service department, but still worthy of chest bumping for us or potential fun debate for Falcon Fans :-)

At the very least, it gives a fan like me something additional to Cheer For! I'm sorta getting used to it and liking it.

Besides, NFL power rankings were around prior to the BCS, so it's safer to say the BCS is the stuff of NFL Power Rankings

I care. Maybe not as much as in previous years when the Texans were just hoping to sneak into the playoffs. For years the Texans never had a shot of being a real SB contender. This year is different. That still doesn't mean it isn't cool to see that people around the country consider the Texans one of the best teams.

People say they don't care about power rankings. Yet when we play the Bills & barely beat them, or we look ahead to waxing the Jags, we're using our own personal power rankings to shape our opinions.

Power rankings don't determine who the champions are, we get that. But to say power rankings don't mean anything is selling it a little short.

It's like saying Wrestling is fake. The only people who get butt hurt about it are the people who haven't figured it out yet.

For the NFL they mean nothing (obviously unlike the NCAA) but they're fun and lets face it, Tuesday morning I'm looking for something Texans related to talk about. We aren't on Monday Night Football every week (thankfully) so most Tuesdays it's me just biding my time until the next Texans game.

Plus we're Texans fans. We need all the positive affirmation we can get after that first 10 years.

"Coach Kubiak is smart enough, Arian Foster is good enough, and darn it ESPN.com says we're the #1 NFL team in America!"

Slightly confused here, how come i always hear all this moaning and whinning about no respect, media coverage, lack of coverage about the texans. Some people want to show how exited they are we are ranked #1 BUT THEN people whine because we are sharing a little info about some national/media respect. Yes the rankings mean nothing but if it dont make you feel just a little good some where deep inside then your problably not normal ....just saying

Sweet. I was talking to a guy before the Chicago game and it came out he was from Chicago and a Bears fan. Without saying I asked him who they play this week and his eyebrows went up and in a very sober tone he said, "the freaking Texans. We better show otherwise were in deep ****."

I sheepishly confessed I was a Texan fan and explained I was just trying to hear his honest thoughts about the game and we had a great conversation. Point being is was great to hear a fan of a 7-1 team was so nervous about the silly little Texans.

I'm having such a blast this year.

The Texans are the real deal this year. They were last year as well until Schaub went down. Like most here, I truly believe we'd have beaten the Ravens in that playoff game with Schaub.
