long & short of it........Balance...Gotta show teams you're just as willing and capable to run on both sides of the line.

Can't just give up on that side. Like Mr teX said, balance.
We have to address this as soon as we can though. It's scary to think that Newton is the answer at RT.

That depends on how much you consider "so much".
For the game, I counted 4 or 5 more running plays to the left. We had most success on the stretch play left, and second on the strecth play right, not so much inside tackles. For the previous 7 games, Football Outsiders had us running to the left 32% of the time and to the right 26% of the time. (The rest of the time we run up the middle and their stats - using play by play line from NFL.com, I bet - doesn't differentiate between the left A gap and the right A gap) http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol Note that we ran first running to left end, but only 27th to left tackle. They charted that we averaged 3 ypc off left tackle (that number should go down a bit after the Sunday Night game.) For the first few games, it was under 2 ypc. The number to right end should improve when their next chart comes out. Basically, there's no clear indication whether our running game is more effective on one side or the other. We did gain the most yards off left end, but that was due to having many of the successful runs on the stretch run left (which may mean poorer run support by the opponents' secondary and the LBs, and may not neccessary reflect better blocking at the LOS.) |

Here's balance for you:
Every time the Texans are 3rd and long inside their own 20, they run a draw play to the right. They have never run it to the left this season. FWIW.

Well for one, if we're on the left hash, there's a lot more room on the right.
