It used to be so innocent, the way Koren Robinson would habitually show up late for Seahawks team meetings during his rookie NFL season, 2001.

But the problem continued. And it wasn't just his tardiness. Four years later, suspension, humiliation and even rehabilitation for alcohol abuse — plus Robinson's public acknowledgments of his problem and the promises to not take his opportunity to be in the NFL for granted — never seemed to be enough.

Robinson is in trouble again, and he might have run out of second chances with the Seahawks.

Today, or very soon, the athletically gifted wide receiver could be released because of his latest transgression. Robinson, 25, was arraigned Tuesday in Kirkland Municipal Court on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving that stemmed from an incident early on the morning of May 6.

KIRKLAND - The Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Koren Robinson and cornerback Bobby Taylor, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

The Seahawks acquired Joe Jurevicius and Jerome Pathon during the offseason as added depth to the receiver position.

Robinson was Seattle's first-round pick (ninth overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft and had played in 57 games with 52 starts. He had 213 receptions for 3,167 yards with 12 touchdowns and a long of 83 yards. He posted career-highs in 2002 with 78 receptions for 1,240 yards, becoming only the second Seattle receiver besides Steve Largent to surpass 1,200 yards in a single season.

The Seahawks signed Taylor in the 2004 offseason but he played in only nine games due to a knee injury. He recorded 13 tackles and one forced fumble, but missed the last seven games of the 2004 season.

The Seahawks also signed cornerbacks Andre Dyson and Kelly Herndon this offseason.

CHIEFS TERMINATE THE CONTRACT OF WR JOHNNIE MORTON

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Thursday that the club has terminated the contract of WR Johnnie Morton.

“We appreciate Johnnie Morton’s effort during his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs,” Peterson stated. “We wish him the best in the future.”

Morton (6-0, 185) played in 43 games (42 starts) in his three seasons (2002-04) with Kansas City. He caught 134 passes for 1,932 yards (14.4 avg.) with eight touchdowns and added 25 carries for 261 yards (10.4 avg.). In 2004, he recorded 55 receptions for 795 yards (14.5 avg.) with three TDs. He originally joined the club as a free agent on March 29, 2002.

Morton entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (21st overall) of Detroit in ‘94. He played in career 126 regular season games (104 starts) with the Lions, catching 469 passes for 6,499 yards (13.9 avg.) with 35 TDs with 21 rushes for 143 yards (6.8 avg.). The 11-year veteran also returned 23 kickoffs for 559 yards (24.3 avg.) with a TD and seven punts for 48 yards (6.9 avg.). He started three playoff games, producing 10 catches for 105 yards (10.8 avg.) with a TD.

The Torrance, California native was an All-America selection as a senior at Southern California. He recorded 185 receptions for 2,957 yards (16.0 avg.) with 21 TDs in regular season contests for the Trojans.

Updating ongoing reports, ESPN's John Clayton reports Oakland Raiders QB Rich Gannon will not be released. Instead, Gannon will retire. He will remain on the team until they need additional salary cap room.

Thanks for the correction. The Texans OL was in a state of flux due to the introduction of new starting players on the offensive line, a new zone blocking scheme (for run blocking), and also a few injuries. If we can continue on the same course for a second year in a row, it is my sense that the OL will improve quite noticeably this year. Making substantial changes to the OL this year would lead to another transition year, and the problems and growing pains that go with that.

The talent on our line has been criticized by almost every other NFL scout. They all thought that our top need going into the draft was the O-line.

So they were all wrong........and David Carr was wrong, when he told the coaches to do something about the line ?

Our line just needs to gel..........sorry, but, I'm not buying it.

By every NFL scout, I assume you're referring to the TV/Radio personalities and columnists that populate the sports mass media market. Almost none of these guys have actually studied Wand up close or are any more aware of his abilities/limitations than you or I are. The opinions of true NFL scouts are too valuable to there respective teams to be circulated broadly on airwaves and the internet. You nor I actually know what they think about this OL.

Hmm, 49 sacks last year and 76 in 2002... Hmm, I don't recognize any of these names, and I've never even heard of this University that Seth Wand went to...

"Man, they really need to improve their OL. It's a glaring weakness."
