For yelling at the refs. Damn! They were yelling at them yesterday too. They obviously didn't know what was coming.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Broncos coach John Fox was fined $30,000 and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio $25,000 for berating officials last Monday night in Atlanta.

Larry Foote reportedly told replacement refs ‘you should kill yourselves’

As bad as the replacement officials have been over the first three weeks of the season, there remains a line that coaches and players should not cross. Arguing calls is one thing, but coaches shouldn’t be grabbing refs after the game or chasing them down in the locker room and swearing at them. And players certainly shouldn’t be saying what Larry Foote reportedly said to the officiating crew after Pittsburgh’s loss to Okland.

According to Jory Rand of KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, the Steelers linebacker made it a point to get to the locker room at the same time as the officials following the game.

“You should go kill yourselves,” Foote allegedly yelled. “Ya’ll (bleep)ing suck.”

Rand said several officials turned their heads to see who had yelled it. He also said Foote had left the room by the time reporters got the chance to ask him about his comment.

Foote was likely angry over what he thought was a chop block against Steelers defensive end Ziggy Hood in the fourth quarter during the Raiders game-winning drive. Hood was injured on the play and had to be helped off the field. Foote was seen arguing with the officials following the no-call.

Kyle Shanahan chases officiating crew down stadium tunnel, throws F-bombs their way

But that wasn't the last the officials would hear from Kyle Shanahan. According to Dan Heille of NBC Washington, Shanahan chased the officials down the tunnel and had some "choice words," with ESPN 980, an outlet owned by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, providing some specific details on what Shanahan reportedly said to the crew (which included a couple F-bombs). Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports the league will be investigating the matter.

Last week, the NFL issued warnings to coaches about abusing or berating the replacement refs. So naturally, multiple games yesterday ended in chaos, with coaches abusing and berating the replacement refs.

The end of the Bengals-Redskins game was especially anarchic, as DC Sports Bog breaks down. On Cincinnati's 34-yard line, Robert Griffin III spiked the ball with seven seconds left. On the next play, Washington was flagged for a false start. The officials—incorrectly—wound ten seconds off the clock, ending the game and sending the Cincinnati sideline out to flood the field in celebration.

As the officials conferred, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan came on to the field to argue. He was in the right—since the clock had been stopped by the spike, no time should have been taken off for the penalty. Order was restored, and the Redskins were given one more play, with the ball moved back 25 yards. Why 25? Five for the false start, 15 for an unsportsmanlike conduct on Shanahan, and five extra yards because the scab refs have no idea what they're doing out there.

Griffin's Hail Mary was batted down, and the refs sprinted for the safety of their locker room. They were pursued by a furious Shanahan, who, according to ESPN Radio 980, yelled "You have no ****ing balls, you are a *******ing pu**y."

Replacement referees throw NFL into
chaos

The two words rang out in the Baltimore night, crystal clear and as powerful as a hammer, over and over. They overwhelmed the television broadcast and even Al Michaels, conservative type that he is, was moved to say, “That’s the loudest manure chant I’ve ever heard.” “Bull! S—!” bellowed the 71,000 or so football fans in the stadium. “Bull! S—!” On the field, chaos was swirling, and the whole enterprise felt chaotic and fevered. You half-wondered if the referees would be eaten.

On Twitter, Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes wrote, “Can someone please tell these f—ing zebras foot locker called and they’re needed back at work!” and also, “I thought after Noah’s Ark & the great flood, God said he wouldn’t punish us again … well how do [you] explain what [happened tonight]?!” To provide balance, Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo unleashed a Twitter spree full of stuff like “They had to be smoking REFer out there” and “We need a REFolution ASAP.” Some consider puns profane, so it fits with the rest of it.

Around the league, Detroit was given a 27-yard personal foul penalty — 12 more than the, uh, standard — and Washington was given five extra yards on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and Dallas receiver Kevin Ogletree slipped on the hat thrown by a referee in the end zone, who was signaling that he had gone out of bounds. According to ESPN, 16 of the 20 challenges in Week 3 were overturned, including the one that was given to San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh, even though he was out of timeouts.

There is also the sudden rush of unpenalized helmet-to-helmet hits. Oakland’s Darius Heyward-Bey looked like he might have been killed, and the guy who was not flagged for it, Steelers safety Ryan Mundy, later concussed a different Raiders player for good measure. Tony Romo got smashed in the face, and a guy dove at Ben Roethlisberger’s knee, and even the calls that produced flags — like the vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on Houston’s Matt Schaub by Denver’s Joe Mays that tore off a chunk of Schaub’s left ear — didn’t result in immediate ejections.

And Roger Goodell and his cronies will just continue twiddling their thumbs. The ref's and the NFL are only $3 million dollars apart. Considering the NFL takes in over $3 BILLION annually, they should have gotten a deal done months ago. It's ****ing ridiculous.

For the life of me, I can't take what you said as sarcasm. LMAO!!

Players sure are taking advantage of the scrub officials. In the Texans
game alone, we watched a punt returner get smashed before he had
a chance to field the ball, a QB get clobbered with naked illegal hits
on back-to-back plays, ALL ON THE SAME DRIVE.

I can't wait to see what's in store for the next 3 weeks. The replacement
refs are swallowing the whistle harder than NBA officials in the last
two minutes of a game.

Both teams on the field are getting the same bad/no calls. The playing field is even if you ask me.

Although I will say it would be nice if a prerequisite of being an NFL ref is to be able to count. These guys seem to be having problems with basic math.

Hard and unnecessary but legal. Same hit would've occured with the regular officials.

All three plays were flagged with 15 yarders. Not sure I see your beef?

So the final TD "catch" in the Packers v Seahawks game is excusable because both teams got bad calls? Even though that one terrible call gave the win to one team over the other.

You cannot say that the terrible calls are ok if the result of those terrible calls hands a team a win. That us just my opinion though.
