Brandt is on 610 right now & speaks very highly of Manziel, over Bridewater. Bortles as flavor of the month

They also had a whole lot of things fall their way and are in a crappy division , Tenn and Jax have been abysmal for several years now & then the Texans fall apart at the seams .... When you can pencil in 5 or 6 W's from within your division , you should make the playoffs.

But with all the hype surrounding Luck , you'd expect him to have put up better numbers than Schaub ... which he hasn't equaled yet other than in the W column.

Another example would be Cam Newton , his statistics have been mediocre but the team won a lot of football games .... mainly due to their improved defensive front while everyone gives the QB all the credit for the W's.
He's in a good situation now but what happens when he's in a situation like Tom Brady this year ..... Can he carry that team ?! I have my doubts.

I definitely don't expect a rookie QB to come in and set the league on fire or even make the playoffs. I pretty much expect a season of sub .500 football .... but after that the expectations rise.

You might talk about the team around Luck and football being a team sport and all but at the end of the day Luck during two years of play has posted some crazy game winning drives. While he might not play a full game it certainly seems that he has been better than avg at closing

Completion 60% sure doesn't wow anyone , yards per pass dropped (6.7) from last year while his QBR was 87 which isn't bad .... But Compare those numbers to Schaub since he became a starter and Schuab's were better every year accept this one.
He took a 2-14 team and went to the playoffs 2 years in a row. Name the talent surrounding him on offense. Wayne, Hilton, and then......? His defense is terrible, his O-Line is terrible, they have no running game, and his best offensive weapon missed the majority of the season with a torn acl. Stats don't tell the whole story. However....

Luck first 2 years....682/1197 (57%) for 8196 with 46 TD's and 27 INT's.

Manning first 2 years...657/1108 (59%) for 7874 yards with 52 TD's and 43 INT's.

Schaub first 2 years...66/134 (49%) for 825 yards with 5 TD's and 4 INT's.

Schaub first 2 years with Texans (4th & 5th career year)...443/669 (66%) for 5284 yards with 24 TD's and 19 INT's.

That's not to say that I don't agree with the gap between Luck & RG3 as QB's being .... vast. Just that Luck hasn't been all that he was cracked up to be - Another Peyton Manning.
He may still get better? A 2nd year QB, with almost no surrounding talent, who carried a 2-14 team to back-to-back playoff appearances? I don't think there is any doubt that he will get better, especially if Indy upgrades the talent around him.

And as for the "not living up to Peyton" hype.....Luck has actually been more successful than Manning was to this point in their careers.

Luck = 22-10 (1-2 in playoffs)
Manning= 16-16 (0-1 in playoffs)

Luck has the most 4th quarter comebacks in the NFL over the last 2 years.

All I need to know is Luck's record vs Texans. Pretty much sums it all up & what needs to be overcome. Look at it this way, Manziel as Texan, could be Luck's kryptonite. Now that works for me, how about you?

Seriously. In his first two years in the league. On a team that was 2-14 before him.

Seriously would be that was not a normal 2-14 team. They were 1 QB away from a disappointing at 10-6 playoff team.

It's not even just game winning drives. He routinely comes back from down multiple scores in the fourth.

But how often is Indy trailing going into the 4th a direct result of Luck turning the ball over in the first 3 quarters?

It's very relevant the moment he can't get away with it, and that's what happened against New England.

Yeah it is because "if" becomes "IF" in the playoffs.

He threw 9 INT's during the regular season on 570 pass attempts.

It isn't just turnovers. He has stretches where he looks out of sync or inaccurate. He'll tool along at 50% with incomplete drives and then yes clicks and all the sudden he goes 8 for 8 scores a couple times and ends up at 59%. He's erratic. Having said that he clearly looks like the kind of guy who is going to dedicate himself to solving the problem.

On a side note he looks like a guy who needs to address his beard situation

And 7 in two playoff games this year, which gives him a career total of 27 (16 this year), to go along with 15 fumbles. And than there is this...

Is Luck going to be good to elite in a year or two, I think so. Is he that now? i don't think so. Nor do I think he should be solely lauded for all of the 4th quarter comebacks.

I thought I read that he shaved his beard in the locker room immediately after the NE loss.

Hopefully Shaw made other positive statements about JFF's ability to play the quarterback position. If all he said was JFF is a jackrabbit, I'm not so sure I take that as a ringing endorsement.
