I'll be okay with being boring and safe when we have our franchise QB. Right now I'm just worried we're going to be in QB hell for the next three, four years.

The poll on that thread doesn't. It was like more than 80% pro Clowney.

After thinking it over I really don't have a problem with the pick. I'm just worried about the QB position. Tonight could change all that. If we nab Mettenberger or even Murray I would feel much more relaxed heading into the season, because at least the staff is grooming someone for the future.

We just might be.

I would have taken Bortles over Clowney but that's not a really popular opinion.

You can bet it'll be back when we play Cleveland in the regular season. Either a rabid Manziel fan will bring it back up to say "I Told You So" after we lose or a Manziel hater will bring it back up for the same reason after we win.

I don't see the poll you're talking about, but the pre-draft poll was 34%. Regardless, it doesn't make it safe, it just means people think he's worth the risk.

I'm always worried about a QB. But I'm more worried about picking the wrong QB.

I'm the same way. It's such an important position, and there's no guarantee with any one of them, good or bad.

I'm also concerned about the QB position. At this point, I'd want Savage in the 3rd or Murray in the 4th.

I don't get the boring argument, either. You know what's not boring? Winning games. These guys will be cheering with the rest of us when it happens, too.

I'm playing a Texans fan on the internets.

Maybe I'm not choosing my words correctly -- but do those guys you just mentioned exude excitement? All are low-key guys.

Bah-

One of my previous posts said about the only times that I've felt excitement about the Texans included when they rolled the dice and let Keenum play.

ahhh, I see what you're saying. A lot of folks use the term "vanilla" for being ordinary and average.

Just playin' with ya' about being a fan. It's all good. Looking forward to 2014!

Only time I remember actually being right was when I wanted Darrell Revis.

I'll get over it.

I don't know about you but I feel blessed to be able to watch Andre Johnson every week. He's easily one of the most exciting players I've ever watched.

some of that off the field scouting report sounds eerie familiar from non-scouts ..aka my sisters and friends that went to school with him in high school. Plus a friend of mine used to hang out with the Manziels (play golf and such)...yeah some ...well they let Johnny be Johnny and would defend him no matter right or wrong.. I will leave it at that.

Of course you would say that. You wouldn't want the Texans to draft Mettenberger, Murray, Garoppolo, McCarron, or Carr, because one of those guys may turn out to be as good or better than Johnny Manziel... at the very least, the Texans with one of those guys will be better than the Browns with Manziel & you'd just hate that.

I don't know what the Texans have in mind, but I've always thought McCarron was the best QB in this draft & it wouldn't surprise me if the Texans think Mettenberger or Garoppolo is the best QB in this draft, just like you think Manziel is the best, but the Jags thought Blake Bortles was.

You rag the Texans for not taking Manziel, yet 21 other teams, many with just as big a need for a QB as the Texans, but passed on him also.

Sorry, but Manziel ended up were he belongs. Having said that, I honestly think he has a chance to do well there. On paper they look like a nice squad. As a Texan, not so much.

I didn't a word about Manziel. Get your facts straight before putting words in my mouth. I didn't want Clowney. I hate lazy Dlineman and selfish players that aren't about the team. The Texans wanted to trade the pick so badly, but ended up caving to the hype and the allure of the guy who got a whopping 4 sacks that never showed up in big games.

TK-

Any of those guys you mentioned would be fine. The way I look at it is if the Texans are waiting to take a QB at a value spot, those are some out there. I like Mett. I'm Luke warm on McCarron, but could get behind the choice. Manziel was not the be all, end all pick.
