I get the sarcasm, but I'm not in that group that believes Manziel should be free from criticism. But there are plenty of people who just don't like the guy. I have plenty of friends who don't and watching A&M games with them was hilarious. They will never have good things to say about that guy even if he saved a group of nuns from a burning bus. It is what it is, but I haven't accused anyone on this board of being that way.

But I love how people throw the word hater around. I haven't used that word in years. Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

What Manziel said was absolutely nothing and harmless. Nothing we havent heard before from the likes of Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Charles Barkley, Cristiano Ronaldo, and other cocky athletes.

Randy Moss made similar comments when he got passed up. So did golden boy aaron rodgers who made comments about the 49ers are going to regret not drafting him. That was a tv interview that was on youtube but the video is no longer there.
Not totally offended by this kind of thing, but I don't like it (regarding any of them). My take is basically that I would have no problem with them saying these kinds of things in certain circles, to friends, etc.; but, don't say it to the media. Wouldn't stop me from selecting him if I thought he was the best choice, though.

And, btw, just because Ali, for instance, could always back it up doesn't make all that trash talk right. I prefer guys like AJ who keep their opinions mostly to themselves and just show it with their actions. I know that's a hard concept to understand in the 21st century. If someone is the strong-silent type they are automatically presumed weak until proven otherwise, just because they don't run their mouth.

It didn't rise to outrage but he was criticized.

Something else being missed in these examples is they mainly came after being successful or at least after the draft not before. Like I said before, doubt it affects anything but it wasn't smart. It was also very odd right when he was trying to be "more mature than the whole Johnny Football thing."

The Peyton situation came before the draft, but I will concede they had much different reputations heading into the draft process.

really hope they both perform at their peak during combine testing that way it can be projected if or not Clowney can catch Manziel in open field, if he can then take Clowney

One thing that I worry about is Manziel's knee. Example him wrenching it during the Auburn game and having to sit out for awhile. I think the possibility of him blowing out that knee is great.

Peyton told them behind closed doors, not to the media. The fact this brat can't stay out of the headlines is enough to not want him.

Yeh I would rather have another dull boring no leading lifeless QB than one who is super competitive and plays with a chip on his shoulder.

If I call my wife a ***** to her face behind closed doors or post it on facebook it doesn't change the fact that I called her a *****.

Not at all. We've got to learn how to beat the best anyway. If beating Manziel/Clowney are the stepping stones we need to beating Brady/Mathis... then so be it.

Of course, I wouldn't mind having our own "Brady/Mathis"
